BedBugs-be carefull!

We are all walking ecosystems - no matter how often we bathe. Mites, single cell animals, fungi, bacteria and viruses are just a few of the tiny living friends each one of us always has with them - by the millions and more. They're all just too small to see.

Que the music: It's a small world after all

Sometimes bathing actually helps the buggers to multiply....
;)

Will also be at CSR in 1 month...just put flashlite on packing list!! Hope I dont find any little critters....and those pictures (in full living color)
:scared1: eeeewwwwww Wasnt prepared for them as I scrolled down.....

All I have to say is ewww! Although our last trip to Disney included a stay at All Star Sports and all 6 of us between 2 rooms were eaten a lot. I wouldn't say we had an infestation, but there was definite signs of the little buggers. The one who had the worst of us all also had a nickel sized hole in her mattress. It was actually quite gross and we got moved to another room. The next room had no bugs, but all the aggravation that happened on that trip was not worth it!

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but does anyone else think that Disney would exterminate their rooms on a regular basis?

I think they probably do---it's Florida--- but I think bed bugs require a different process. I would bet they probably have the rooms sprayed which is usually spraying a thin line around the baseboards and along th bottom of the door where you enter the room etc. If whatever they need to do leaves white dust around the night table--- a normal spraying wouldn't leave that-- so I'm thinking bed bugs require different treatment.

When did you stay @ Sports? We will be there next Saturday! Oh No! Anybody else have any problem @ Sports???:confused3

:scared1: Those pictures. My stomach did a flip that would win a gold medal.

I really wish that I had not read this!

No, Be glad you are reading this thread. It could cost you thousands to get rid of them from your home. I had a friend who had to get rid of furniture, clothes, rugs, towels, bedding. Plus having to deal with about 50 to 100 bites on her that itched. So do not ignore this thread and do your homework!

Do not bring your luggage into the room at all until you check. unless you have hard sided luggage. I also wear latex gloves to do my inspection. The family waits outside with the luggage.

Thanks for posting that. I'm completely sceeved and itchy now but I would rather know what to look for. Last fall when we went to Poly I just did a check and unpacked right into the dresser when everything looked. I don't want to have to worry about bedbugs on vacation :sad2: . OP can you tell us which building at POR has bedbugs? I'm sure people that are staying there would want to know, I would.

BUILDING 37 ALLIGATOR BAYOU

sorry it took me so long.....

What if the powder you saw was from someone spilling body powder
in the drawer? Did it smell like pesticide?
If it did, at least hopefully they are dead now. :confused3

I tried to tell myself the same thing...until I found the dead little critters. YUCK

This thread really makes an RV and a campsite at Ft Wilderness look good!!!;)

I just hate the thought of taking the little critters home with me-- auggh.

That's what I said to my Hubby. That RV owners can travel worry free of bedbugs.

The manager told me when they have bedbugs they close the whole building and treat it for 30 days. Then she moved me to room 2533 and added the building had not been down recently. I found the room clean and comfy and far, far away from building 37. All was well in the world. I forced myself not to stress, and enjoyed my vacation.

  • Peel back the bedsheets and check the mattress, running your fingers along the upper and lower seams. Make sure to check the mattress tag, bed bugs often hide there.
  • Experts recommend removing and examining the headboard if possible. Check for tiny black spots (excrement) that are smaller than poppy seeds. You may also see translucent light brown skins or, in the case of an infestation— live bugs.
  • Check the bedside table. Look for signs of bed bugs in the drawers and along the wall on the side of the bed that is less likely to be disturbed by cleaning staff and guests.
  • You may want to elevate suitcases and keep them off the floor, like on a luggage stand.
  • If you see powder in the drawers or on the headboard, it is likely that the room has already been treated for bed bugs by an exterminator.
  • If bed bugs are detected, travelers should request for another room. Be sure to inform hotel management.
  • Just moving to a different room may not be the total answer. You should repeat the thorough inspection of any new or different room you are offered.
  • When you pack to leave, inspect your luggage carefully first, and inspect every item as you pack to help detect any bugs or their signs. Laundering most cloth items with typical hot water and detergent followed by drying on low heat for at least 20 minutes (or standard dry cleaning) should kill all bed bugs in or on such items. Sealing freshly-laundered items inside a plastic bag should help keep any more bed bugs from getting in those items later to hide (and be carried back with you).

There.. now we ALL know what to do.
