BedBugs-be carefull!

YUCK!

I just never thought about this stuff while we're at the "Happiest place on Earth" :rotfl2:
Now it brings a little too much REALITY I'd rather not think about!

But now that I know, I'll bring the flashlite and REALLY HOPE I find
NOTHING! Thank you for the "tips" for checking the room.

Wishing everyone a Magical Trip and NO BUGS! :thumbsup2

Both times that I stayed at POR I woke up with little tiny itchy bites all over e. I guess I know why..I know that when I switched over to WL I didn't get anymore.

It is so weird to wake up to this thread. I posted yesterday about our trip to POFQ. We stayed there over this past weekend. When I woke up Saturday I noticed little bites on the kids legs and arms. I didn't think too much of it. Then Saturday night I remember scratching my arms and legs. On our way home, my sister in law (who had an ajoining room) said, "Hey, do you have little bites on your arms and legs?" She found them on her kids too. At the time I did not think to look for Bed bugs. And by the time she mentioned it we were on our way home. But now I think that is what they were. I mentioned this yesterday in my post and felt like some people did not believe me. One post almost acted defensive saying how much she loves POFQ. I am not trying to change anyone's opinion. I was just stating what happened. I am from South Georgia. Believe me this is a buggy area. But I have never stayed somewhere and woke up with tiny bug bites. I am sure it could happen in any of their resorts with the amount of people that stay there.

I hope you used precautions with your luggage when you arrived home. If they are actually bedbugs an infestation can happen at your house! :scared1: A very expensive problem to have from what I understand. Carpets might have to be ripped up and mattresses thrown away. A professional exterminator should be called if you do have this problem.

I've been lucky enough to never encounter these little buggers. Sorry about your trip.

Take rubber gloves for the test and a good thing to take is sticky tape to catch some if you find them and take it to the front desk for evidence. You know the CSI thing.:rolleyes1

1) But, this is Florida.
2) Bugs are park of the landscape.

You're joking right??! :confused3 (I sincerely hope so..)

This thread is full of great advice on how to check, i for one will admit, i was always under the "disney is the place where no bad comes".. thought. :rolleyes1 Now, i understand it is just another hotel in a sense, and we need to be aware of the situation wherever we stay.

. . . You're joking right?? . . . (I sincerely hope so..) . . .

1) Alas, this really IS Florida.
2) Florida has bugs.
3) Disney does a good job, but bugs can't be prevented - even in beds.
4) If they could, that pesticide guy would be famous (and very rich).

A thousand or more dollars a week for a hotel room and you have to inspect it for bedbugs? Poison powder and dead bugs in the drawers?Obviously "Mousekeeping" knows what's going on. You would think they would inspect when they serviced the rooms, no? Especially when stripping bedding, just how does evidence of bedbugs go unnoticed?

At WDW prices, you shouldn't have to inspect for parasite infestation. Yet people are so in love they will fork over their money anyway. Like any other company WDW won't clean up its act until they get bit - in the pocketbook.

1)I understand it's florida -- but to be honest, what state it is has NOTHING to do with it... ;)
2) Again, i understand Florida has bugs, but i believe.. so does every state. :) (See answer number 1)
3) That is my point exactly.. That it has nothing to do with WDW being in Florida - that it apparently can happen in hotels ANYWHERE..
4) Yes, he would.:thumbsup2

I just didn't understand if you were saying that we should get over it, cuz it is Florida, and Florida as we all know........ has bugs. :upsidedow That is how your other comment was taken that i quoted you on before. Just b/c any state has bugs, should we learn to live with them in our beds? :scared:

Actually the way I took that was.. You can get these anywhere.. and Disney does -- on the whole - a very good job at preventing them from being a widespread (bedspread?) problem at their resorts.

1) Plus I like Rusty's style of numbered points.
2) It's easy to read.
3) Clear to understand
4) And kinda fun.

:)

This i absolutely agree with. :)

And i agree with Rusty's second post - replying to me, It was his first post when he said --
"1) But, this is Florida.
2) Bugs are park of the landscape."

THAT i didn't quite understand what he was getting at there... ;)

Uh, I'm talking about bedbugs. Has nothing to do with Florida and the bugs native to that state. Bedbugs are all over the world.

1) I'm afraid Rusty's sense of humor didn't shine thru in that post
2) Normally he's very witty.
3) He's a good guy
4) He meant no ill will
5) Gosh this really *is* fun.

:)

Ok I'll stop that now. But it is fun.

Knox, That is all i was asking ---------- i do NOT know Rusty, so therefore i didn't know his sense of "humor".. thats all. I am not in arguement, i agree with what is being said about this topic. ;) And i never stated that he wasn't a good guy, or that he had ill will. :thumbsup2 Just simply asked him to clarify what he said..

Even though bed bugs are unplesant and bite the skin and make you itch. I do love the way they taste. I try to find as many as I can and put them in a jar and pick on them on the way home. They almost taste like little pieces of pop corn. Crunch and a little salty.

Hmmm. My mouth is watering.

I live in the Midwest and our local news kept running an advertisement last night about their big story for the evening-"Watch out-the return of the bedbug."

This is something to be aware of in any hotel you stay in because they are becoming more common.
