Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Hello everyone!!! I'm back to catch up now! Hope everyone had a nice weekend!!!

Beth...I'm so proud of you for getting up early and getting in your workouts! Yay for DS placing!!! Good job getting in your 10 miler!

Panda...I know what you mean about the gym. I go in there to work, not to be social. I'm not in there often...mostly for water classes, but at any rate...I'm not much of a social but w/ folks I don't know.

Debra...Yay for your 6 miler! I think it's far. At this point in my training, 3 miles is looking pretty far! lol! I think every mile is an acomplishment in itself. If I haven't told you lately... I always enjoy your posts!

Jeanne...Sorry about your stonker! I was out at 9am Saturday and it was already so hot!!!

Connie...Great advice about the AutoPause on the Garmin. I have a 305 and I will have to look into that. I hope your shoulder starts feeling better soon!!!

Maria...Great job getting your workouts in! Biking does really give us lots of miles doesn't it!

Vic...Stadium Run!!! I am in awe! Does that mean you are running up and down stairs??? :faint: Good job on your 6.5!

Jeff...Nice pics! I feel like I am there! Your DD is such an independent Keiki!

Mike...Your pace is looking awesome!!! I'm still so impressed w/ your tri! On Saturday I did back to back C25K and then biking! I was sooo give out by the time we were done biking. Whew!

Howard...I assume congrats are in order for your new position??? Hope it gets s little less stressful for you. Congrats on more weight loss! You seem to very consistent w/ your workout AND your weight loss! What a great example. I need more consistency in both!

Wendy... Yay for your weight loss!!! That is fantastic! :cheer2: It's great to have a team of support! It really does help doesn't it. Let me know how the OBX works out. I'd like to try that one some day...

Tracey...Hope your 6 miler went well! I know you're happy you got a new computer.

So...as mentioned, I got in my C25K on Saturday and Sunday. After C25K on Sunday, We got in a 8.8 bike ride on our new bikes! Yay.

Here's a pic for your viewing pleasure of new bike. It's a Trek FX 7.2 WSD.

Did I mention we have a fish tank now... See the Mickey Mouse fish???

Dave: congrats on your new PR! You are surely da' man! :cheer2: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Stacie: I LOVE your Mickey Mouse fish! That is way too funny. Did he have that when you bought him....and was that why you chose him? Or did it just happen? Man, if Disney ever sees your fish they will probably clone him and make a fortune!

Since I am trying to avoid work at all costs :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 , just thought I'd catch up some more on posts.

Vic :cool1: :cheer2: on your 6.75 miler!

Stacie Love the bike and the fish! I posted about C25K to you over on the warriors thread.

Beth I'll be really interested in your Breaking Dawn thoughts when you do read it. I was up until almost 3 am reading after I bought it and it took me almost another 4 hours to finish on Saturday. I probably lose alot by speed reading, but I always get so nervous about what is going to happen that I end up going superfast. I usually read books twice. Once for plot and once for details.

Tracey So funny about the breaking dawn boxes! The same thing happened when I went to Barnes and Noble for Harry Potter 6. Unfortunately DD has already sat on my back! Her thing now is to use whoever is laying/sitting on the floor as her own personal gym! I look forward to the day when I can run 6 miles outright! That is an accomplishment.

Dave All I can say is :worship: :worship: :worship: for your workout today.

Connie I am contemplating Goofy 2010. I think I want it to be my last huge physical challenge before having another baby.

Have a good day everyone!

Jeff: awesome photos! Thanks so much for sharing them with us over here. I'm one of those WISHers who never seems to be able to make it over to the main thread. I have all the cousins I need right here and on one or two other threads, so I really appreciate the double post. That Dole whip looks mighty refreshing!

Lisa...Great job on your race! Way to go!!!:cheer2: So proud of you!!!

Jeanne...That is why I bought the fish. I thought the Mickey was soo cool! We got them from PetSmart. :thumbsup2

Stacie

Beth: Yay for DS's strong placement. He must be very pleased, and you too. 5 home runs & 28 points. Wow-ee! I remain impressed by your mileage and dedication. 8 1/2s and counting. :cheer2: And as we all know, it's not just the race-day miles, it's the training. Like 10 miles at noon, which is fabulous if somewhat intimidating. Yay on losing those stray 4 pounds. They're really not too easily domesticated, anyway.

One of the things I look forward to reading about in your posts is how you just get out there and do it--I certainly can't tell you're anything less than super-motivated. I mean, you've got the early a.m. workouts that you make sure you get in, the speedwork, the miles, the races, the XT. And you've got a busy work schedule, the family and their busy athletic schedules, maintaining the household (new vacuum and all), and you still take the time to post wagon tips (which I know take time to come up with and are much appreciated). Again, wow-ee!

Jeanne: I'm so sorry for your stonker. I actually think you were wise--I find I bonk in the heat pretty easily. I didn't realize you and John were considering doing races together. That's pretty cool, even if the experiment goes awry. (I just know you're thinking like 626, so I'll just say "like 626, right?) I'm sorry training hasn't been going so well--sporadically, I'd think, what with all that's been going on with you. I haven't kept close track of all that you've done, but I'll bet if you looked at your calendar you'd about faint if you wrote down all the busy-ness! :faint:

One of the reasons I'm so glad your on this thread [that is when you get the time ;)] is because you're such a strong and strong-willed athlete. I mean, you did a marathon with less than 20 miles under your belt? I didn't know that, and don't think I could do it. (Which is why my training starts early--I still fear not finishing.) But not only did you do your marathon last year, you're back for more. Oh, and I have to remind you that you actually have a training schedule that increases your miles from last year. :woohoo:

Oh, and I don't know Bryan real well--I think he must post on the walker thread?--but I just love his enthusiasm and can-do attitude (very similar to yours...hmmm)! It's my understanding that he's recently committed to races and has really pushed himself, making great strides? :thumbsup2

Mike: Ah, the start/stop with Garmin laps makes sense. I'm like you--I'd just call it good. Path of least resistance, you know? But then I see Connie has offered a solution. (I actually have a word file with Garmin tips for my future toy.) I responded to your thread about the NB shoes, but forgot to mention a source for retired styles: Joe's New Balance Outlet. I looked there for your 881s, but they didn't have any men's shoes. But it might be a good place for the future--I'm waiting for my shoes to go on sale and then picking up a couple of pairs. :thumbsup2

Connie: Great tip with the Garmin. Between that and the Bodybugg you're my go-to tech person! And filled with information on nutrition--like the fortified label--that I never think of. I love any reason for a banana split--I didn't have one Saturday. But I did have one of those new Starbucks Vivannio drinks with protein in it--chocolate banana. Almost as good! :lmao: I'm sorry to hear your shoulder doesn't seem to be improved. And that the drugs have not only kept you from DISing but have probably eliminated you from any last-minute participation in the Olympics. :rotfl: I'm going to try to adopt that positive attitude of yours, which has lifted me up on many a day, and send you good vibes for your health and return to training! :goodvibes After all, you have a marathon to train for with Goofy 2010 (me too), and I just have to meet up with you on the course! Good luck with your 4 miles today! P.S. Speaking of keikes, how are all the keikes in your life doing? And your DD?

Wendy:
I went to bed early like a good little marathoner-in-training,
I love it! :lmao: I, too, will watch tv when I'm on a TM. It's at the gym, and so my choices are somewhat limited, but I kind of feel like I'm getting a two-for-one deal is the right thing is playing. Working out my body and my mind. And watching Olympic specials and Miracles while doing your miles? A match made in heaven! You've got such determination in meeting your goals--very cool to read about!

Strutting Panda: You have every right to strut, given your 4-miler PR and your weight workout. I just wish you would do it in a leisure suit! :lmao: Wise words from the Panda regarding rest days and keeping ourselves on steady path toward fitness gains. DOOD and I blew the rest idea--accidentally--on Sunday. (See below.) You're so passionate and eloquent about fitness for all Americans, I'm sure whoever our new first lady is she'll listen to you. Are you practicing your speech.

Vic: Woo hoo for the 6.75 miles. (Hey, it's not my foot pod so I don't need to split the difference.) No wonder you feel tuckered out!

Howard: Sorry Sunday's run was brutal. But, hey, I'm seeing some sweet double-digits in that total! And you really some nice splits in there, too. And in bigger news (shouldn't that be smaller?), Yay for being 18 pounds down, with 7 to go! :yay: That's fantastic!

Stacie: Lots of activity to celebrate. Way to stick with your C25K plan and commit to w3d3, even if it means back-to-back runs. And you got new bikes (both you and Matt, I assume) and did some miles there, too. Fantastic! That Trek is pretty sweet-looking. Have you named it yet? (And a tiny little "awww" for the MM fish, because it's so tiny.)

And you're just so excited that it's impossible not to be excited for you. You should know that I love reading how you and Matt are doing more and more athletic things together, and that you're getting lots of members of your extended family involved. That's so cool. :woohoo: Plus, I admire how you're taking charge of your health, adopting a gluten-free diet, and have jumped on the multiple 5K race-bandwagon. That's a lot of changes and you're handling them all so well. And you know it's made me look at the gluten in my life with new eyes (and some suspicion) and consider trying some fun 5ks.

Aloha Jeff: Great pictures. Dole Whip, beaches, sunsets. I hate you. ;) And then you have to turn around and confirm you're doing the Nike World Run Day. So I like you, too. Dang it, it's just too confusing around here.

Maria: That's the kind of WISH DISing hiatus we can all get behind. "I'm too busy to post, I'm working out!" :thumbsup2 You're totally focused on hitting your August goals, and are doing just great! 3 days and 20 miles. Yay for your and your list! I didn't know you don't like gyms--I hope it wasn't because of any traumatic experiences. I'm not sure if I appear focused at the gym. Maybe dazed and confused. (Now there's a smilie that doesn't get used nearly enough.) Plum #3 is coming up. Good luck with your nutso week and all your workouts. You've been steadily increasing your everyday activity as well as your WOs, and that ability to include exercise with your work has really encouraged me to be better about doing the same.

Lisa: Great news on your race. You definitely lost 19+ seconds tying your shoe. I'm so proud of you--you set your speed goal and, IMO, achieved it in all but chip time. You earned those clams. And super cool that you may have found extra motivation in the belly-button piercing. You're always so very clear and focused on your goals that you're going to be a great PT, and a navel ring with just emphasize your abs for your clients. (Because if you've got it, flaunt it--when the right occasion comes along, of course!)

Tracey: Yay, you're back. I know August is busy, busy, busy for you (and all parents) but it's good to see you. I'm so glad your kids liked Wall-E. One reason? I can't think of a single scatological joke in it, even though it has many humorous moments. A pleasant surprise in animated movies. See, you're another person at the 6 mile mark (and w/o intervals) and increasing. At least I've got examples to follow, on and off the course. I really like that you make activity fun for you and your family--running isn't separate from what you do with your DSs. It's part of it. And they benefit as well--and do very well, by all accounts. Yay for DS's new PR and 1st place in AG. :yay:

AmyK: WTG with C25K and 4.5 miles on the beach. That's great time and mileage for the program. I'm sorry you got sunburned, though. I hope it is a mild case and heals quickly. I'm paying careful attention to your progress through C25K as the plan is what I cut my teeth on, and what I return to for interval experimentation. You're doing so well with it, and your enthusiasm is contagious! You should totally do Goofy 2010. What types of XT doing you like to do?

I saw soooo many people (okay, girls and women) reading Breaking Dawn this weekend. I feel out of the loop. It sounds like Meyer's books are roughly following the trajectory of the Harry Potter series; the fourth book got considerably darker. Didn't she also write The Host (her adult, sci fi novel) between Eclipse and Breaking Dawn? That might have had an influence. Regardless, I know you were looking forward to new book and hope you weren't too disappointed. My library still hasn't gotten me Twilight yet, and I expect there's quite a waiting list. Should I read The Host while I wait?

As for me: Thank you all, for the reality check with the 6 miles. I guess my problem is that the 6 miler FELT like it was much, much longer than it was. On such days, I tell myself "C'mon, you've done longer," "Six miles isn't even 1/4 of a marathon," etc. but I still tend to be disappointed.

Sunday got a little out of control. It was my and DOOD's rest day, so we decided we'd take a short trail hike in an area we hadn't fully explored. Well, 2 1/2 hours and 7+ miles later, we figured out where we were....Good thing we brought water bottles along. And at least were were under heavy shade, so no sunburn. Then it was an afternoon of recovery and an outdoor evening performance of Cymbeline. I was tuckered out.

So this morning I said to DOOD that I didn't think I felt like running. He said, "What does your training plan say?" I gave him the stink-eye. It's hard to resent him when he's right, but I sure did try. Anyway, I did it--I was tired but kept to my schedule.

And in leaner news, I did lose a pound last week. It's a tidbit of news, really, but a good tidbit.

Aloha Jeff: Princess #2 starts kindergarten already? That's early, isn't it? Very cool that your keiki is so mature and clearly in command of the situation.

Good news with the arch and the side benefits of taper. I haven't experienced that particular pain, and it sounds very uncomfortable.

For those of you wondering (DEB), Hawaii's public schools implemented a year-round calendar last year. The breaks are every quarter for about 1 1/2 weeks, and a long "winter break" for about 3 1/2 weeks.

The Queen teaches at a school that was already on a modified school schedule. She workes 40 calendar days, and then is off for about 2 weeks. Her "summer break" is Christmas through the end of January. Yep, 5 weeks off!!! Anyways her school is on a track system, where groups of students rotate time off, due to school overcrowding. When three groups are in session, one other group is always off.

To follow up on Princess #2's first day at Kindergarten. It was a half day, and so during my lunch, I went to pick her up and take her back to her pre-school. All the younger keiki treated her like a celebrity. It was sooooo funny seeing them all come give her a hug, and calling her name like they hadn't seen her in years. It was like she had her own set of groupies. I had a good chuckle at that scene.

Today is Princess #2's last full day at preschool, and when she dropped of thank you gift bags to her teachers there, the director nearly started to cry. Being a late born child (December), we opted to keep her in preschool for 3 years, so it was like she was a permanent student. Thank goodness the tuition payments are over  :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cheer2: .

For those of you "Jonesing" for a Dole Whip, you can either go to Disneyland, go to Disney World, or go to Hawaii. All locations are a great reason to get some pineapple flavored refreshments. :rolleyes1

One last thing, as for my Sunday of relaxation after the 16 miler. Nope, Princess #2 wouldn't have any of that. She insisted we go out to the driving range and hit golf balls and putt. So off we went in the afternoon heat to whack a couple of buckets.

Deb...Give DOOD a big ol pat on the back for me...for getting you out for your run! :goodvibes I'm glad you got it done! Yay for losing a lb!

Last night Matt and I went for Mexican w/ his Brother and SIL. He was needing a Margarita and ordered a 1/2 picher...When it came, he wasn't loving it... (too strong! ha!) so...I drank 3/4 of it! I thought it was pretty tasty myself! Didn't want it to be wasted and I needed to get my money's worth you know!

Oh...and did I mention that we have ADRs and room ressies for January now!!! Yay! 2 nights at Coronado Springs and 2 nights at Poly! I pray for a Disney Visa or AP rate!!!

I don't understand. Deb loses a lb. from her run. I gain 4 lbs. after a 16 mile run, plus hitting golf balls at the driving range (Yes Deb, it's a stress reliever). What gives?

Oh, maybe it was the tortilla chips with cheese dip, the Pomagranate ice cream from Costco, the Jamba Juice, the pretzels, and the bbq ribs & mashed potato dinner. Oh, and the several Gatorades, water, and cranberry juice to rehydrate. Hmmm, just maybe... :lmao:

Stacie, I commend you on taking one for the team and downing most of those Margaritas. A girl after my own heart.

Stacie....sweet bike.:thumbsup2 Margarita's are my favorite. On Margarita Monday, I can get 3 margarita's and share appetizer's with my peeps for less than $10....needless to say, my DH has to drive us home, but that's all I'm gonna say about that.;) I'm hoping for a Disney Visa rate for Jan. What do you think our chances are? Hey, we have the Mickey Mouse fish, too. Aren't they cute!
Jeff.....kindergartener's are soooo cute! Glad to hear she's a celebrity now at the preschool.
Debra....Yay, DOOD, for encouraging you to stay on schedule. My DH is more of the, "Skip the run, stay here in bed".;)
Amy....ouch on the sunburn. I'm the same way in making sure the kids get covered, but forgetting about me. And....they always look super cute when we go out and I'm rushing to just comb my hair.:scared1:
Panda...thanks for the hug! Fish ice cream!:scared1: Wow, what a pace on that trek of yours! You are the man!

Six miles, what six miles? Our electricity went out for a couple of hours and there was no way I was going outside with a 112 heat index. So instead of going downstairs now, I'm sitting here visiting. Okay, okay,....I'm going...begrudgingly.:rolleyes1

Just a drive by... AAA rates are out for 2009, so if you want to apply one to your reservation (or make one), this is the time! They just came out yesterday, so hopefully they still have good availability. I wqs able to save $336 from my original reservation!

Maria

Good Evening Lean Meaners!

Stacie I  margaritas! I've also gotten into mojitos. I love making them. Using a muddler is so much fun!

Tracey I know exactly what you mean about rushing just to comb your hair. Since having DD, my primping time has been cut down severely. and I don't even require that much time.

Debra :cheer2: for getting out there for your run. DH is usually pretty good about keeping me on track as well.

you made a really good point about SM writing The host in between eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I haven't finished the host yet. It's took me awhile to get into it and then I got caught up in rereading Eclipse. It is supposed to be really really good. I think I liked breaking dawn, I am just missing certain aspects that I loved about the previous 3 books. She did a third of BDfrom the werewolf point of view. I loved that and I was totally :lmao: :lmao: at his chapter titles. Onto a countdown for Twilight the movie, out December 12th. I can't wait, if nothing else for the eye candy they have cast for the male vampires.

For me W4D1 today! It went really really well. The first 5 minute interval was a little long, but once I settled in it was ok. I tried to just get lost in my music. During the 21 ish minutes of intervals, I covered 1.7 miles, 12 ish minute/mile pace. About exactly where I want to be at this point. Total miles with warm and a LONG 1.1 mile cool down was 3.1 in 45 minutes. I also experimented with some diluted G2. No stomach issues when drinking ut at half strength.

My current go to songs on my shuffle to keep me moving:

Pain-Jimmy Eat World

Whoa-Forever the Sickest Kids

Great Escape-Boys Like Girls ( this one was playing in MGM during the 15K at a point where I was feeling really good, like I was actually going to finish, so it is like positive race reference for me)

All over you-Spill canvas

Hey Driver-Lucky Boys Confusion

DD has a test tomorrow at the childrens hospital to make sure she doesn't have bladder reflux which can cause UTI's. It will involve a catheter.:scared1: .She's going to love that!

Have a good Tuesday everyone!

Debra:  You are a groupie for other groupies to emulate.

I am here to post some training results from this evening's workout:

Cross-trainer/Elliptical: 3.11 miles in 28:04
Video Bike: 4.42 miles in 15:56
Free Weights: 15 minutes

The Pacer finished a full 6:24 behind me tonight. I really pushed it and I could REALLY feel it in my 12.6 mile distressed legs.

Overall I ran over 30 miles this week in addition to my XT tonight. :cool1: That is 30+ miles the last two weeks. :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

Fun Fact: Since May 27, I have run 180.55 miles.

Have a most excellent evening everyone!

:grouphug:

Jeff - How does someone turn loose of an octopus?

Connie

Quick lesson about tako (Japanese translation: octopus).

There are two types, day he'e (Hawaiian translation: octopus) and night he'e puloa. Seriously! I kid you not.

Anyways, day tako usually hide in pukas (Hawaiian translation: holes in the reef). We walk along the reefs looking for telltale signs.

If you spot either rocks or shells piled up around the opening of the puka, likely there's somebody home. So you take your three prong spear, and poke it around inside, tickling the tako.

They'll grab onto the spear in their own defense, and usually ink the water so it gets black and cloudy, so they try to escape. Once you get it fighting you, you just poke it, and pull it out.

But beware the nearby Moray eel. If they're lurking, they'll come over and steal the tako, or at minimum tear off a leg for their meal. I've had this happen while scuba diving.

At night, the other breed of tako is out sitting in the open. You can see their tiny eyes reflecting your flashlight beam. They're dark red in color, but way more easier to catch because they're sitting out in the open.

Once caught, you have to neutralized them by either poking them or biting them between the eyes. It's the humane way of putting them to sleep. Otherwise, if you have any tiny little tear or hole in your dive bag, they are smart enough to slide right out without you knowing. They're invertebrates (no bones), so they can squeeze through anything. Oh, also they can change color to camoflage themselves to their surroundings.

The day tako is good for eating. Really, it can be cleaned, then grilled or smoked. But we use them for bait, when we go beach camping and fishing.

So now you all know...

Jeff...nice pics, great tako hunting stories.

In Mike's world, I am still crazy stupid busy from work, but I am taking today mostly off and bringing my 6 yo to the Museum of Science and Industry...I've been promising all summer and its almost over, so today is the day.

On the lean mean front, no miles for the last two days from my feet hurting.

The different manager at New Balance fell all over himself to find me a pair of 882s, I am supposed to pick them up on Wednesday.

The local running store was a little less cooperative, but they took back my Asics Kayanos and swapped them for a pair of NB MR1062SB, which are also supposed to be a neutral running shoe. I'm sure they get to return a few pairs a year to Asics, and the Asics were more expensive than the NB...but at least I'm in a shoe I can (hopefully) use.

Planning on starting back to activity tomorrow...I am going nuts from one scheduled and two UNscheduled rest days...

Mike

Good Morning guys and gals!!! So, last night I attempted to swim some laps. It went OK. I definately need more practice...or some lessons. Seems even when I turn my head to breathe, I still get water in my mouth. When I would get tired, I would do the backstroke...plus no water in the mouth this way. :goodvibes I was out there for about 1/2 hr. The swim cap kept my hair out of my face, but it didn't keep it dry. I think I need different goggles. I bought these Nike ones from a store called Ross. They are Juniors, but fit fine. The kept fogging up though after a while got to be a bit uncomfortable. I think I will invest in a nice pair.

Today is C25K day. Again, I couldn't get out of bed, but will plan to do it tonight after meeting. That will put me out there at 9pm, but I thought I may do better this evening than going out unfueled and tired this morning. I would prefer the morning if I could get up and get going, eat a bite, and then go out, but I just can't seem to get up and get moving early enough. We'll see what happens on Thursday. Thursday are more critical for me to do it in the morning as we are too busy after work.

Jeff...Like your "funnies"

Mike...Yay on the shoes! I can't believe they had you in the 1223s. They are definately a stability shoe. Shoes make such a big difference. I hope you can get back out there soon!

Howard...180 miles! WOW!!! That's a lot of miles!

Amy...I've been wanting to try a mojitos, but haven't had the chance yet. Glad to hear Week 4 started off well for you!

Maria...Whoo hooo for saving some $$$ w/ your AAA rate! We don't have AAA, so I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the Disney Visa or AP rate. We have two nights at Poly and I NEED a code for that!

Stacie

Good morning Leaner Meaners! How is everyone this morning?

I started off with a bang this morning........got up early (AGAIN) to get 5 miles in. I am so glad after the fact that my miles are done for the day, but geez......how hard is it to get out of bed in the morning? I always have to set my alarm 10 min early, to have time to talk myself in to getting up..... :headache: :sad2: It is REALLY hard to do! I am getting a night 'off' and my dh and I are heading for Atlantic City for the night! My dsis is nice enough to stay with my boys overnight, so dh and I can have a date night! Yippee......but I had to get my miles in before work then! Good motivator, I must say.

The extra mileage I have been putting in has it's side effects....:confused3 I am hungry and tired.......:headache: I continue to eat too much, and wish I could go to bed.....:confused3

Stacie: I know all about that 'not getting out of bed.' Don't you hate that? It is one of the hardest things that I do, or attempt to do! Sometimes it doesn't work for me either. Good luck getting out there tonight!

Maria: Yeah for saving that kind of money!!!!! Makes the trip worth it, doesn't it?

Mike: Sorry to hear that work is still stupid busy! But, good job getting a field trip in with the little one. That's the things that we shouldn't skip. Memory making moments for the kids are the first priority, even when we are too busy. Good job making the time for the kiddlet!

Jeff: You make us all jealous! Great pictures! Can't imagine living in such a beautiful place.....you are a lucky man!

Debra: Tell DOOD that he is a great support team! Way to go getting it done......not always the easiest thing to do, huh? Thanks to for your kind words.....sometimes it's those things that we forget about ourselves!

To the remaining meaners (Jeanne, Howard, Wendy, Amy, WWDave, Big Vic, and a big shout out to Bill) I hope things continue to go well for all of you.

Wagon Tip of the Day: Healthy family relationships (from Mike's field trip plans). Sometimes, as a long distance athlete (isn't that a funny thing to say!), we become one-minded. I have so many things to get done in a week, my time is scheduled to the minute. Exercise is a priority for me, but sometimes it doesn't allow alot of time for the fun moments with the kids. I make it a priority to spend an afternoon with the kids over the summer to do fun things. We love the pool, IMAX movies, the science center, etc..... This weeks trip is to Hershey Park, followed by a trip to Boston! Those are the important moments......so all of you, get on board and post your fun moments with family and friends!

Beth

Once caught, you have to neutralized them by either poking them or biting them between the eyes. It's the humane way of putting them to sleep.

Now, I'm curious....how do you bite an octopus between the eyes? Truly, that sounds dangerous, but the sick side of me would like to see a pic of that.:rotfl2:

Mike...hope you had fun at the Museum of Science. I love field trips! I'm sure your little one was thrilled to have you take her. You get extra daddy points for that.:) Hope your feet feel better soon.

Stacie...great job on swimming laps. I can swim, but I'm not a pretty swimmer. Way to get out there and get in done.

Maria...nice job on saving money on your ressie. What days are you going in Jan?

Beth....have fun on date night...I would say that's an awesome motivator. I feel like I'm always posting about my family so thanks for encouraging it. We love going out and doing things together.

Amy...how did your pumpkin do today? Hoping things look good.

Everyone else...
I did get my 6 miles in yesterday in 1:05:13. I'm good with that. ;) Today I got the pilates for dummies in early and I"m hoping to get a walk in tonight with DH.
