Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

Thank god about the dress situation! I probably would have suffocated her thru the phone? :rolleyes1

That aisle runner is GORGEOUS. I'm super bummed that we can't have one.. =[

Yeah, I know! All I can do is thank God that I didn't have to deal with that dress situation!

I was actually wondering about your French bridesmaid. I hope it all works out... and that she brings you back something awesome from France! :)

And your runner is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! Fantastic job!!!

Thank you! And yeah, I'm hoping everything works out too... last time she went to France to study abroad she brought me back a French version of Harry Potter ;)

Thank goodness about the whole dress situation!!!!

And your aisle runner looks GREAT!!!!!!!

Thank you!!

You need to start table mock ups! You've seen mine and I'm dying to see yours!!! Please!!

And I LOVE your aisle runner! It came out SOOOOOO good!

I know! I've been dying to start them, but I have some stuff here in PA, some at home in NY, so I won't be able to start them until I move home for good. I'm hoping the first week of July will be a good time to set those up!

Ah!!!!!!!!!! Aisle runner = amazing!!!!! It looks so good! To store it is super easy. All you have to do is put a little wax paper on top of your design and pin it in place. Roll it up and put it in a trash bag and store it in a cool dry place and your good to go:thumbsup2 your drama with girls dresses is so close to mine that it's scary. I am glad she got it ordered. I feel bad I didn't handle my situation as well as you :rotfl: as far as the French bridesmaid I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! How much did your runner end up costing you if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the tips! I bought the aisle runner for $20 at Wal-mart. It was 40 yards long, which turns out to be super long!! Each of my aisles is 25 feet, so I cut it in half and the aisle runners are still twice as long as the aisle. That plus the paint which was like $1 and the paint brushes, which I bought for about $2, and I used a silver sharpie to do the outlining which was about $2 as well. The total cost was about $25.

Aisle Runner part 2

Now if you remember, my church has two aisles. So today I finished the second aisle runner. I think I must be insane to do this project now, since I'm moving in three days and in the process of packing everything up. But in some ways it is a nice break from the packing. So here's the second one:

P1040300.jpg

So this will be for the aisle that we walk up after the ceremony is performed. I think it goes nicely with the first one, which is the one that we will walk down when we first come in:

I agree! I love it too! I can't wait for pictures! :D GAH you're getting married in, really, like TWO MONTHS!!!!!!:cool1:

I'm Back! And a bridesmaid update

So I feel like I've missed so much being away for the past week. I went to Orlando with Jason's family, and we hit up Sea World, Universal's Islands of Adventure, and Disney for one day. I may do a short TR in here with some pics and stuff sometime later this week.

In other news, I got a call from my bridesmaid in France, Jess, the day we were in Sea World. As soon as I had a voicemail from her telling me she really needed to talk to me, I knew it was probably bad news. Sure enough, I got in contact with her and she told me she just got a new job in France... one that won't let her have any vacation time in September. Since I knew there was a possibility this would happen I was prepared for it, but it was still very sad to hear. I felt bad because I know that she was feeling very upset and guilty about it. It's also just hard in general because she has no idea when she'll be home again, and she'll probably end up living in France permanently the way things are going. She was my best friend in college and we saw each other every day, now it seems so strange to think that the number of times I will see her again in my life I can probably count on one hand. At least we have email, I guess...

I had thought about what I would do if this happened, and I decided I would ask Jason's cousin, Linda, to take her place. Linda was in Orlando with us this past week, as it was her family that organized the trip. I asked her mom first (since she's 15 I figured I should make sure she'd be able to come to the rehearsal and all) and then while we were in Florida I asked her. Although I was really sad about losing Jess as a bridesmaid, Linda was soooo excited when I asked her that it helped a lot to know that I made her so happy. Jess offered to have the dress that she already bought sent to Linda, and hopefully she can have it altered to fit. Fingers crossed that works, since the dress is discontinued!! Both girls are pretty normal sized and shaped though so I don't really think it will be a problem.

I am actually not home yet, in a motel in North Carolina that actually has free wi-fi! I'll never understand why the cheap motels give you free internet but the fancy hotels charge you for it. Speaking of which, we stayed in a resort that was a part of Jason's uncle's timeshare and it was just amazing. I'll post pictures later, but let's just say it was incredible!

My bridal shower is being held this Sunday so I'm really excited for that!! I don't really know anything else about it except for the day and time, so it will be full of surprises. Also, some RSVP cards have started coming in! So much going on now and we are so close to the wedding, I can't believe it!

Oof--- I'm sorry about your French friend. :( I mean, it's great she got a job, but it stinks that you won't be able to see her, like, ever anymore--- although, at least it's a great excuse to go to France, right? And I am sure your cousin is SO excited--- what 15 year old girl doesn't like getting all dolled up anyway?!

I am also looking forward to pictures from your vacation! I definitely think you should do a TR, at least for your Disney day. (Although, just Disney for a day?! Ack! That must have been hard!)

Have fun at your bridal shower--- I hope you get lots of goodies.

Awww so sorry to hear about your friend in France! :sad2: All this silly growing up and people moving away... it is tough for sure- but glad it worked out with asking Jason's cousin, and hopefully that dress works out!

I can't wait to see your TR on your vacation in Florida! We were so close to being there around the same time!!! Had you been to Potter world before? I was SO in love there!! :)

Loving your aisle runners!! Those are so cute and they came out fantastic!!

A Hopefully Short TR

I spent about five days in Orlando, and although not all were in Disney I figured I would try and do a TR really quickly. So here goes!

We drove down, it took about a day and a half since we stopped in South Carolina over night. We arrived in Florida on Sunday morning!

Around Sunday at 2:00 we arrived at our resort, called The Fountains (it was part of Jason's uncle's timeshare). It was a gorgeous place:

P1040326.jpg

I should mention now that we were traveling in a group of 12 people, so we were having 2 suites. They weren't ready yet though, so we had lunch at the resort. I thought about doing a dining review, but since we only ate at a few Disney places and they were all counter service, I decided to just include some food pictures in here! Here's what I had for lunch:

P1040321.jpg

It was so good!! It was some sort of tropical chicken sandwich. I absolutely loved it - it has pepperjack cheese, which gave it some spice, and a mango dressing, which gave it sweetness. The perfect combination. The fries were good too.

After lunch our suites were ready. I was staying with Jason's immediate family - him, his dad, his brothers, and his grandfather. Our suite was very nice. The rest of the group, his uncle's family, was staying in a different suite. Well, his uncle surprised us and they were staying the Presidential Suite! It was absolutely huge! It had so many rooms, it even had a room with a pool table! I'd never seen anything like it - I'm used to staying in the cheapest hotels.

We spent the rest of the day swimming, eating dinner, and relaxing. There was a really nice balcony on the suite, and we were treated to this view in the evening:

Thanks so much for reading! I'm hoping to have a lot of updates in the next few months :)

Thanks! Yeah that sandwich was probably the best thing I ate all week!

Lovely TR so far! I love this! and that food looks so yummy!

Thanks! I really wanted to do a food report but couldn't justify it, so I'm putting all the food in here ;)

Great TR so far!!!! :goodvibes

Haha I know! If it was just Jason and me I definitely would have tried to arrange something! I'm sure we'll be back down that way in the future and if so I will let you know!

Sea World!

Our activity the next day was Sea World! I was pleased with this decision - I was glad to experience some other stuff in Orlando, since Jason and I will be doing all Disney when we come back. I adore Sea World. The first thing I had to do was get my picture taken with this backdrop:

P1040337.jpg

Penguins are my favorite animal! Sadly, this was basically the most I saw of the penguins all day. We didn't get to the penguin area until around 4:00, where we found out they were simulating arctic winter, and the sun sets at 3 pm. Because of this, they had basically shut the lights off and the penguins were sleeping. You could hardly see anything! So disappointing.

The first thing we did was go on the Manta. I LOVED this roller coaster! It's hard to explain, but you're basically lying on your stomach - so it feels like you're flying superman style. The queue is great - you pretty much walk through an aquarium, and there are lots of fish to look at, so it really doesn't feel much like waiting at all. Went super fast. And on the ride you dip down near bodies of water, the scenery is just really nice. Here's a glimpse of the coaster:

P1040402.jpg

Next we decided to go to the Shamu show. This was fun. I don't know, maybe I'm a dork, but it actually made me sort of emotional. The dolphin show later did too. I was just thinking about how lucky I was to be here in Florida seeing these amazing things and how special it really is. I think the music makes you feel emotional too. :rotfl: That was probably the only complaint - everything is really theatrical and set to music, which is nice, but they don't talk to you anymore. I would have loved some information about the whales and how they train them, all of that, but they don't tell you that anymore.

P1040367.jpg

After the show we went on the Arctic Exploration ride, which is a motion simulator. It was okay, but not really one of my favorites. In the gift shop, Jason couldn't resist posing for some silly pictures (he does that a lot):

P1040382.jpg

Then it was time for lunch. We went to the Terrace Buffet, which promised pizza, pasta, and salad, buffet style. I have to say, this was a let down. Three kinds of pizza, three kinds of pasta, two kinds of salad - the pictures on the sign looked a whole lot better than the actual food. The pasta was a bit too hard or al dente for me - I know some people like that, but for me it just seemed undercooked. The pizza was ordinary, plain, pepperoni, or vegetable. Salad you had regular garden or ceasar. I had the regular, and while it was decent, and the dressing was good, it was literally just a bowl of greens with dressing on them. No tomatoes, carrots, nothing. I got some parmesan cheese from the pasta station to put on it. I think the roll was the best thing I ate there:

P1040384.jpg

Dessert was okay, they had cookies and dessert pizza - that was a choice between cherry or apple. I got cherry. It was extremely sweet, tasted just okay. The cookie was just a cookie, and it was hard, not soft:

P1040385.jpg

I would definitely try somewhere else if I ate at Sea World again.

After lunch we went to a few places, including the shark tanks, which were cool. Then we went to the dolphin show. This was AMAZING. If you go to Sea World, you absolutely must see this show. It's not just the dolphins doing amazing tricks (which they do), the people in it are incredible. There are all sorts of acrobatics and great diving going on, it was just breath taking. Here's a sneak peek. I took some video which I will hopefully be able to share a link to at some point, but for now, I have this:

P1040428.jpg

Then we had to ride the Kraken. The line promised a 10 ten minute wait... well, we didn't get on that coaster for over an hour. It was a fun ride, but definitely not worth the hour and 20 minute wait. I don't know why there was such a sudden surge of people, but they did pause the ride for about 15 minutes to add another car. So that added to the time.

After that we grabbed a snack - I had a frozen lemonade. It was good. The perfect thing right then, since I wanted something refreshing but not too filling.

P1040433.jpg

Finally, we headed to the penguins, which I mentioned earlier as a disappointment. But the puffins were active and cute!

P1040437.jpg

After exploring the gift shops briefly (Jason's family is mostly guys, so there was never much time to explore the gift shops), we went home!

Up next: Downtown Disney for afternoon!

That roller coaster sounds awesome!!! I so wanna ride it! I love roller coasters!

And yum...frozen lemonade. I always get them in Disney. It's perfect for a hot day!

Brian does all of those silly poses with random things too. He likes to try on hats and random things, and pose with strange things as well. Such a dork...haha!
