That is awesome!! Maybe we will run into each other in Disney :) Do you have a PJ or anything? Wedding date twin :goodvibes

First of all, a quick update to say that the invitations were mailed this past weekend! I've heard that people started getting them yesterday and today, so it's very exciting!

First Dance Song

Meanwhile, Jason and I are still trying to decide on a first dance song. He won't just let me pick it because he wants a say, but when I give him a list of songs and even play them for him he can't decide. It's driving me slightly bonkers :rotfl: I think I'm going to just play them again for him tonight and force him to choose! I wish we had some sort of song that is "our song," but we never had anything hit us like that, so it's just up to us to find one.

If you have an suggestions definitely let me know! I really like country music, but I don't want anything that's super super cheesy. You know, I want it to actually be meaningful and say something different than every other love song out there. Here is the list of what songs we are currently considering:

Can You Feel the Love Tonight, by Elton John
Everything, by Michael Buble
Everything and More, by Billy Gilman
She Likes It in the Morning, by Clay Walker
Fall, by Clay Walker
Hold On, by Michael Buble

Out of all things, this is the decision that is giving me the most trouble! If we come to any decisions I'll let you girls know ;)

Guys can be SO annoying. Chris can't decide between "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" (our song!) or "Then" by Brad Paisley.

Okay, this might sound bad, and might ruin you forever, but now I can't hear a Michael Buble song without thinking about the Hamm and Bubbly skit on SNL!!! (Have you seen it?)

I like country too (surprise, surprise :P) but I had never heard of Clay Walker--- but I am LOVING "She Likes it in the Morning"!!!! It's beautiful, so that's my vote.

So I am going to get all analytical about this. so I wont feel bad if you want to ignore this post! :rotfl2:

I listened to each of these songs on You tube... and for the didnt watch the videos, I just wanted to listen to them. My top three are

1. She likes it in the morning - Clay Walker
2. Hold On - Michael Buble
3. Can You Feel the Love Tonight - Elton John

Bellow are my thoughts on each song. I can get really into analyzing music. I was going to be a music major but I got scared of Music theory 2 in college and ran to art!Hope I didnt over step my welcome... with my insanity! LOL

Can You Feel the Love Tonight, by Elton John
-Okay, so if you choose this song, you can not go wrong becuase I am going to take a leap and say you are very connected to this song. This song has it all, wonderful lyrics that are not over stated, and a musical maturity. I would say that you seem to want to something unique as most of us do... and this to me seems to be too obvious of a choice.

Everything, by Michael Buble
-again i like this song, its a great choice... but I get the sense that you like to be hit emotionally right at your heart and I think this song may not be able to achieve that unless you both a have a deep connection to it. It is a little too light if there is no pre-connection to the song for it to be a deeply emotional first dance.

Everything and More, by Billy Gilman
-Sweet lyrics, Im not a fan of this song though. It doesnt seem to have enough maturity to it. I know that sounds strange... but i am not sure how else to explain what i mean. Its a sweet song.

She Likes It in the Morning, by Clay Walker
-Country music is not my #1 music to listen to. But every once in awhile there is a country song that comes along that just hits me. This was one of the few. It gave me the chills which is a good thing. Clay sings from a genuine place in his heart with this song. Every aspect of this song has love. I like that the lyrics extensively speaks about how she loves him and then simply states that all of that it is almost as much as he loves her. When you listen to it you realize how much he is saying when he says "that is almost as much as I love her". His love for her runs so deep within him, that it is difficult for him to find the words to express how much he loves her. So instead he tells us how much she loves him and what he does for her... and then says see how much she loves me, take all that and then some more... that is how much I love her. oooo I still am getting chills.

Fall, by Clay Walker
-I like the words and this is a nice song. But I am not a fan. It doesn't speak about the female's love for her partner. Just how much she needs him. Which is sweet but for me it doesn't speak of the relationship that they both have for each other. Am I explaining this one right? I am not sure.

Hold On, by Michael Buble
- I think this is a beautiful beautiful song. It definitely feels like Michael was more connected in this song than to "Everything". I also think this piece is richer then Everything. I like that lyrics seem to be communicating the connection between the lovers. To put it crudely, "when the **** hits the proverbial fan... we will have each other to hold on to and make it through" I think this would be a good choice because every time you hear it (which it will then be "your" song) if your day is going bad or things aren't headed in the right direction it will help to keep you going remembering you have each other to hold on to.

Haha oh Groom drama! They can be worse than the girls sometimes!! :lmao:

At least he doesn't pull what DF does and says, " whatever makes you happy sweetie" lol... that has been the whole way for me! :goodvibes Which isn't too horrible since I am a control freak anyways.. but I would like his input sometimes you know?!

I really like the Buble! I like Everything because it is pretty upbeat for a first dance but the lyrics are cute. I do like Hold On too... it is a slower song and a little more romantic.

I do also like Country too... I am a sucker for any George Strait songs, he has a lot of good ones and Carrie Underwood too.

I like Buble! I think if df and I were to have a first dance song, it'd be "you make it real" by James Morrison. I get chills when I hear it!!

Brian's like Amber's df, "whatever you'd like sweetie" I'm like, just help me with this decision! Ugh gets so frustrating!

My DH (woohoo, I can say that now!) was like that too "whatever you want"...but if I was actually asking his opinion, then I would have liked it!

We had a country song for our first day..Lost in This Moment by Big and Rich. It's about a wedding :)

Of course you are country fan! :rotfl: Apparently we were meant to be BFFs! For some reason Clay Walker doesn't get all too much recognition in the world of country music, but I love his stuff. I haven't seen that SNL skit... I think I will avoid it now just so it doesn't ruin Michael Buble for me!

I absolutely love your analysis! I found it quite helpful, actually! We have at least narrowed it down to three, and they are the same three that you mentioned :goodvibes

you can't beat the buble

True, he is pretty awesome ;)

Haha oh Groom drama! They can be worse than the girls sometimes!! :lmao:

Yup, I know what you mean. We narrowed it down to three and now he's pretty much doing the "I don't care, do what you want" thing.

I like Buble! I think if df and I were to have a first dance song, it'd be "you make it real" by James Morrison. I get chills when I hear it!!

Brian's like Amber's df, "whatever you'd like sweetie" I'm like, just help me with this decision! Ugh gets so frustrating!

I know! For once I'd like him to just say, "I really want this song. It would mean a lot to me." But he doesn't really care :confused3

My DH (woohoo, I can say that now!) was like that too "whatever you want"...but if I was actually asking his opinion, then I would have liked it!

We had a country song for our first day..Lost in This Moment by Big and Rich. It's about a wedding :)

I've heard that song, that's a beautiful one for a wedding :goodvibes

Okay, so we narrowed it down to three songs, then we both ranked them. My top three, in order, went like this:

1. She Likes it in the Morning
2. Can You Feel the Love Tonight
3. Hold On

DF's top three went like this:

1. Hold On
2. Can You Feel the Love Tonight
3. She Likes it in the Morning

:rotfl: Yeah, we had our preferences completely backwards from each other! I do like all three songs. I just feel like Hold On is a little more negative than I'd like, just because it focuses on when times are rough. Though I like that idea in a song, I'm not sure that's what I want to be focusing on for my wedding? :confused3 I'd rather celebrate the happy times. On the other hand, DF picked She Likes in the in the Morning last because he doesn't like that it's strictly from the guy's point of view. He said it seemed too one person specific. I'm not sure I 100% understand what he's saying, but okay. In the end he left it up to me, and said he didn't really mind which of the three I pick. But now i still can't decide. Haha this is going to drive me crazy!! :scared1:

That is awesome!! Maybe we will run into each other in Disney :) Do you have a PJ or anything? Wedding date twin :goodvibes

I would looooove to have a pj, but I don't! DF and I just recently bought a house together, then two days after we moved in I started my first real job... so I have been crazy busy lately, unpacking and stressing about the new job. No time to start a PJ :-( PS I just went to the Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual sale today and they had a super cute tank top that says Just Married for 15 dollars! They didn't have my size (it runs a little small) but I will definitely be scoping out other locations because it was so cute and such a good deal.

Gah! Guys are so stubborn sometimes. If this is the case, I think I would pick Can You Feel the Love Tonight if I were you--- it's both of your second choices. And I sorta know what he means by it being from the guy's point of view.

So yeah, that's my NEW vote! :)

Would your DJ be able to do a medley of the three songs? Then you both get your way.

We're considering a medley of songs since (like you) Aaron and I can't agree on a song to save our lives.

I totally understand! I'm going to be super crazy these next few months. I'm also moving back into my parents house while my DF is moving into a new apartment that I will join him in come September. And I'm starting a job in July - not really new, because I worked there summers for the past few years, but I'm working way more hours this summer.

And I actually was just in Victoria's Secret to buy a bra for my wedding dress! I'll have to go back and check out the wedding stuff! ;)

Yeah, that's what we're kind of thinking now too. I'm going to give it a few days and give it some thought, because I feel like I just keep changing my mind. A few months ago it was Can You Feel the Love Tonight hands down, but now I'm flip flopping again!

Would your DJ be able to do a medley of the three songs? Then you both get your way.

That's an interesting suggestion! I have no idea if my DJ could do that but it would be something to look into!

Some quick updates!

Bridesmaid Update

So we narrowly avoided some drama on this one. I don't think I told this story on my PJ yet, even though it happened a few weeks ago. Remember how I said my sister was waiting until the last minute to order her dress? Well, she texted me around June 1st (the deadline was June 3rd) to tell me that she had ordered the dress! And then on facebook she posted that she received it and the cats were playing in the box. :rotfl: So no worries. But then I hear the background story from my family: that when she went to order the dress she found out it was discontinued, and that there were only two dresses left in that color and her size in the country!! Luckily she was able to order it and have it shipped in from a David's Bridal in Minnesota. All I can say is thank goodness she didn't wait a few more days! I am not complaining, just happy that everyone has their dresses now!

As for my other bridesmaid in France - still no update on that situation. She said she would let me know by the end of June if she would be able to attend. Basically if she finds a job in France before then she will have to determine if she has the funds to come home for the wedding, based on what the job pays. If she doesn't find a job she'll be forced to move back home anyway. Still waiting to hear on this one. Not sure what I'll do if it turns out she can't come, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Aisle Runner!

So thanks to Vicki's lovely tutorial, I set about to make my own aisle runner. Well, actually two, since I have two aisles! I decided to put "Once Upon a Time" on the first one, and then "Happily Ever After" on the second one. I've been working on it and finished the first one today! Here it is:

Also, you can't really see from far away, but the blue is outlined in silver. Here's a close up:

P1040299-1.jpg

I think it came out pretty good. Now, both of my aisles are 25 feet long, and I bought an aisle runner that is 40 yards (120 feet). So I'm just going to cut the runner in half so I don't have to buy another one. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to roll it up and store it? (Especially the one that isn't on the roll any longer). Thanks for any help you can give!

Thank god about the dress situation! I probably would have suffocated her thru the phone? :rolleyes1

That aisle runner is GORGEOUS. I'm super bummed that we can't have one.. =[

I was actually wondering about your French bridesmaid. I hope it all works out... and that she brings you back something awesome from France! :)

And your runner is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! Fantastic job!!!

Thank goodness about the whole dress situation!!!!

And your aisle runner looks GREAT!!!!!!!

You need to start table mock ups! You've seen mine and I'm dying to see yours!!! Please!!

And I LOVE your aisle runner! It came out SOOOOOO good!
