Because I am Your Mom and I Say So! (October TR) 3/15 Food and Wine and More

Hey Ashley,

Glad to see an update! It can be hard to find the time, right? Don't go too fast thouhg...whenever I feel I'm getting behind I look at your TR and say "Gee, I'm not doing so bad." :lmao:

POR is very beautiful. We will probably never stay there since we like POFQ for its small size, and otherwise they are pretty similar and its easy enough to trek over there for a visit.

Ignore my earlier jest..I can't wait to read more!

I'm so glad that you arrived at Port Orleans safely. I'd say that 13 "are we there yet"s isn't too bad for that long of a drive.:thumbsup2

Thanks for posting the pictures of Port Orleans Riverside. We decided to add a day to our vacation and chose POR so we could check it out.

I love to walk around POR, and I especially love the walk from there to POFQ. So pretty and peaceful!

The kids are so cute watching TV as you are checking in. Brooklynn loves the lobby TV shows, too.

Great timing on your drive.

POR is beautiful. I think I would like to stay there one day.

Reading along finally! (I too have been MIA from the boards for a while). LOVE your pics of POR! It looks beautiful! Can't wait to read more!

hey Ashley!
welcome back! great update...

so happy nothing was missing on the McDonald run, and great timing on the drive.

Thanks! for sharing the tour of POR, I am still on the fence of where to book for our upcoming trip. POR is cheaper than POFQ (FQ only has river view left and I normally only go with standard rooms). I really like the idea of the DTD boat so that is what keeps bringing me back to PO resorts instead of CBR (one of the other resorts I am thinking about--something new).

looking forward to more!

Not to sidetrack a thread - but if you like the boat aspect..POR is better than POFQ. We wanted to take the boats from POFQ, but the way they work it, they fill the boats up with all but about 6 seats at POR, so when they get to POFQ there's little room. We waited almost an hour for a boat @ POFQ our first trip there, and there was only about 15 people in front of us in line. Never took the boat to DTD again...bus was waaay faster. (This was back in 2006 - so things might have changed.) While we like POFQ - I would never pay extra for a "water view". How much time do you spend looking out your window in a mod? it's not like there's a balcony to sit out on!

Sorry Ashley - had to chime in my 2 cents.

Love your pics of POR, we stayed there in 2009, gosh it was beautiful, We were also in Oak Manor, perfect placement!

Cute pictures of the kiddos at the rest stop. It looks like you guys made pretty good time that day. I'm so excited that you have arrived!

I am still playing catch up around the house from christmas/new years:eek:. Happy to make you feel like less of a slacker!

I would like to stay at POFQ, in all truth I would like to stay at every resort on property atleast once. I really loved taking a walk around POR though, so beautiful.

I hope to get up another update soon!

It seemed like so much more than 13! I grabbed my notebook and put another tick on the "are we there yet chart" each and every time they asked:laughing:. Chloe wasn't so amused with my tally system, think it might have made her second guess asking me again.

You will love POR. The grounds are so serene. I know you will enjoy taking a stroll around or maybe even renting a surrey.

Didn't get a chance to walk over to POFQ. I am willing to get up fairly early for the parks, but I'm not an early bird ,like you are, by any means.:goodvibes

Sometimes those darn lobby tv's are great, other times not so much. Hard to steer the kids in another direction:goodvibes! Great when you are checking in though!

Great timing on your drive.

POR is beautiful. I think I would like to stay there one day.

Thanks! I paid more attention to the time because of our adr that evening. I wanted to have plenty of time to unpack and decorate!

The grounds of POR are definitely lovely, but I think it is time for a refurb on the rooms. It was clean, just a little worn.

Reading along finally! (I too have been MIA from the boards for a while). LOVE your pics of POR! It looks beautiful! Can't wait to read more!

Glad you are back. I see your ticker! Wow, I think we will just miss each other.:confused3

I took another stroll later in the trip, so I will have more coming up eventually!:)

Thanks, Connie!

I really couldn't believe how lucky we got, especially with valuables out in the open.:scared1:

What did you choose for the resort? I would recommend the pirate room at CBR. I asked the kids which room they liked best and that one won hands down. Plus, I think the pool is tops.:thumbsup2 We did like POR, but just not quite as much as CBR.

Hope to have more up soon!

Oh, and Chloe had a field trip to the children's museum in Hammond, I tagged along. She loved it! If there is a tuesday or thursday that you want to meet up there I would love to- can't wait to take Noah!

Good points. Please chime in all you want!

Welcome! Thank you very much. I agree Oak Manor was a great building!

Cute pictures of the kiddos at the rest stop. It looks like you guys made pretty good time that day. I'm so excited that you have arrived!

Thanks! They were being sweet to one another and that always requires picture taking.

We try not to make too many stops, especially when we had places to be later!

October 16- Part 2
We piled into the car and we were off to our destination: The Beach Club. I was obviously more interested in the sign than in the buildings, but you can sort of see the resort in the background.:upsidedow

IMG_6725.jpg

We had a little time before our reservation, so we decided to look around.

While out on the beach, saw that they were building a campfire. The kids wanted to stay, but the campfire started at 7, which was the same time as our reservation. After the campfire they show a movie on the beach, so we decided we would come back for that. On our way back inside the kids decided to be my little models.

Continued from above...

By the time we got inside to check-in the line was looong! So, I tried to take a picture of the kids together. Noah was not cooperating.

IMG_6728.jpg

Finally, we got a pager. Noah found the tv and was entertained and Chloe and I went to explore the pool area.

IMG_6749.jpg

While checking out the pool, we also found Beaches and Cream. Was hoping we would make it back to try out some of the ice cream.

It had been a while, so we made our way back to the lobby and it looked like the crowd was thinning out. We had to be getting close to next. I think by the time the pager went off it had been 30 minutes, but still we were excited for our first meal at

IMG_6751.jpg

Being a buffet we were able to grab our food just after we were seated. The buffet had snow crab legs, mussels, clams, pasta with lobster sauce, fried shrimp, an array of salads, and sides. It was all good! Then we bellied up to the dessert bar. The oreo dessert was absolutely the best! The kids certainly enjoyed all of the desserts!

After dinner we went back out to the beach. The kids played in the sand for a bit

and watched some of the movie, Beauty and the Beast. The view was better than the movie, so I wandered around taking pictures.

We walked to the lighthouse to catch a boat over to the Boardwalk.

Chloe took a picture of Chris and I on the boat.

Took a stroll around the Boardwalk. The kids were pretty giddy, you know that stage right before they crash. Watched a magician for a bit.

October2010R042.jpg

Strolled a little more, saw the boardwalk games, and quickly turned back around. Decided to go into a store.

October2010R041.jpg

Chloe spent the rest of her money on a Aurora baby and Noah bought a Woody figurine. I found a purple shirt and since our total was over $40 we got a rolling duffle for $16. The fireworks were going off at Epcot and it was getting late, so we walked around to the Beach Club.

(would like to eat here someday)

Noah decided he was too tired to walk and Chris had to carry him for a bit. Not bringing the stroller turned out to be not such a great idea. Before too long we were back at the room and fast asleep. Tomorrow would be a full day of park hopping!

Up next- AK morning EMH’s and our best safari ride ever!

The Beach Club looks wonderful! I'd love to stay there someday :) Isn't the Boardwalk just beautiful at night?

I would give anything to be a the Beach Club right now!!! I'm SO sick of the winter and the snow!

I love Cape May for dinner, it's SO good! It's easy to make yourself sick there, you end up eating so much! :rotfl:

The Boardwalk is so pretty! :cool1: I've only walked around there once, but I'd like to explore it again sometime!

Me:

My name is Ashley and I am a 30 year old stay-at-home mom to two spirited and loving kiddos. I would describe myself as an over-thinking type A personality who has a true love for all things fun (trips to Disney being the echelon of fun!;)) and a true hatred for things I deem not-so-much fun (such as cleaning and cooking). I truly enjoy spending every moment I can with my kids and husband, and feel very blessed to have this life. Oh, and if you can’t tell, I also am very silly and sarcastic.:goodvibes

subbing now because its like hearing myself talk outside of my head. :cutie:
