Because I am Your Mom and I Say So! (October TR) 3/15 Food and Wine and More

Great pictures, you did a great job for such a bumpy ride...Love doing Safari first thing in the AM...always great views of the animals. We also got to ride in the front row (we always end up in the back every other time, so I asked). We were making some jokes - not rude - and once cracked up the driver so much he had to turn off his microphone. Wish I could remember what I said that made him laugh...

SkierPete

Thanks! The only one I can never get are the dang cheetahs. I've decided they must be a new type of cheetah that AK has, the Blurry Cheetah. The safari is always our first ride of the morning.

I enjoy sitting up front way better than in the back. I swear the back is so bumpy that it compares to the roughness of Dinosaur. Funny that you cracked up your driver. I can only imagine the jokes you were making.;)

Great TR! Love your pics of the safari:cool1:

Thanks! Hope you will stick around.:goodvibes

Great pictures! Ashley
Chloe and Noah look like they were really enjoying the drums.

Hope you guys did not get iced in....
we just had a lot of cold rain!
can't wait for :sunny:

Thanks, the kids did love to pound on those drums.

All we got was rain around here as well, but the kids have been out for the past 2 days. Chloe has been fighting a cold, so I am hoping these 4 days off will help her get 100% better. The flu and stomach virus are going around the school and her being a little sick would surely make her more likely to get either one.

I agree, ready for the sun! Glad that you didn't have too bad of weather either.:goodvibes

Yay for all the great Animal Kingdom pictures!

Love your drum playin' kids. :cool1:

Wow your pictures are amazing! What kind of camera are you using? I need a new camera for my next trip, I'm seriously going to start saving now so I'll be able to get whatever one I want by September! :rotfl:

You saw a lot of great animals on the safari! I always say I'm going to go on the safari first thing in the morning, but I never do because I can't pass up going on EE first!

I like all of your pictures from the safari. What a fun way to try out a new camera. It looks like the kids had a great time with the drums. Cute pictures!

Hey Ashley

hoping we are still on for Tuesday; just looked up the weather forecast suppose to be mainly sunny and a nice warm 64 degrees!:yay:

Thanks, it is a Canon Rebel XS. It is the bottom of the line canon dslr, I love it. I did get the larger zoom as well. Best Buy has some pretty good prices and packages.

We always go to KS first thing and usually we don't get the lions, but today we got lucky.

Thanks! The drums were a good thing to pound on. It was still early, but they seem to always have the energy.

Animal Kingdom- Part 2

We had decided that we were going to try out It's Tough to be a Bug. The last time we saw it Noah was 2 1/2 and was not fond of it, we were hoping at 4 he would be less scared.

I stopped to admire these monkeys.

The baby was so cute.

October2010R156.jpg

Soon we saw.

October2010R160.jpg

For some reason Chris and the kids were booking it, so I only took a few pictures while trying to catch up with them.

October2010R162.jpg

October2010R164.jpg

Must be getting close.

Made it into the holding area and then we waited. Really don't get why we had to rush to wait. Oh, well guess the "kids" were excited.

Mandatory bug glasses picture.

October2010R166.jpg

Noah then bumped his head on the rock behind him and started fussing. I wondered if more of that fussing was to come.

We were let in, of course we hung back a bit. I hate the rush to get inside only to move to the other side of the theatre. I just wait a few seconds for better seats.:goodvibes

Happy to say that my kids enjoyed the bug show! There were kids crying, but not mine. Noah even laughed when the bugs crawled under him at the end.

After the show we walked to the front of the Tree of Life and viewed the Garden Trail. Here's the only picture I took.

Our bellies were rumbling, so we decided to eat at
October2010R175.jpg

Noah was the only one that got pizza. Chris and I both got the Italian sandwich and not really sure what Chloe got (probably mac n cheese). Food was good, nothing spectacular, but soothed our hungry tummies.

Next, we walked over to

Some of the scenery.

The kids saw there favorite camp minnie-mickey characters and wanted to say hi!

IMG_6848.jpg

IMG_6852.jpg

What you were thinking some other characters? Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pocahontas, Meeko, Chip, and Dale were all greeting, but the only ones my kids were interested in seeing were Thumper and Miss Bunny.:confused3 I tried to talk them into saying hi to some of the others, but they just weren't going to budge. Ok, guess we are off to Dinoland. (I know some of you are thinking, but what about FotLK- well we were skipping it this trip- Gasp!).

continued from above...

I took the camera to get fp's to Dinosaur.

IMG_6860.jpg

IMG_6861.jpg

Chris took the kids to play at the Boneyard.

After getting the fp's I wandered through Dinoland...

IMG_6864.jpg

IMG_6865.jpg

But not for long, I had never seen the dig site, so I was interested in seeing it before the kids moved on.

IMG_6867.jpg

I really like the dig site, the little rocks definitely get everywhere, but atleast the kids don't get all dirty playing there. After the kids uncovered some bones, they wanted to run around in the play area.

IMG_6872.jpg

IMG_6875.jpg

After they played and played, it was time for a ride.
IMG_6884.jpg

We had never ridden Triceratops Spin, so we hopped in line. The line was pretty long. We must have waited about 20 minutes. Finally, it was our turn.

IMG_6878.jpg

IMG_6882.jpg

Dumbo Dinosaur was just like Dumbo without the view. Kids liked it enough. Now our fp time was up. Noah went over to get measured and for some reason he kept slouching and the cm said no. Noah was in tears, but we couldn't get him to stand up tall. Chris told me to go with Chloe and he would calm down Noah, so off Chlo and I went.

IMG_6886.jpg

I could really do without this ride. I like the theme, but oh my it's sooo rough. Chloe was ready to go again though, this time with dad. Noah and I made a penny, well a few actually.

IMG_6889.jpg

Then Noah decided to spend the rest of his money on a Woody figurine and Buzz ride car (for Buzz's Spaceranger Spin). I saw a cute vinylmation- it was a tiger and decided to try for a better vinylmation keychain. In April, I picked out one and it was the flame one, not very girly. This time I got a music note one, it was girly enough.:thumbsup2

Since Chris and Chloe weren't back I took Noah to the Cretaceous Trail. Wasn't much too it, but he enjoyed climbing on this guy.

IMG_6891.jpg

After dad and sis caught up with us we were ready for Finding Nemo. It was about 15 till showtime by the time we made it inside. Wow, the place was packed. We were seated on the left side of the theater, upper section about half back. By the time the show started the theater was completely full.

October2010R177.jpg

These were my only pictures that were half-way decent. I was still working on mastering the new camera.

October2010R181.jpg

October2010R183.jpg

I love the Nemo show. It takes so much talent to not only act yourself, but to carry around these large puppets and make them come to life.

We had one more thing to do at AK and then we were headed out, use our fp's for Kali River Rapids.

October2010R103.jpg

Noah got his special seat (because he is under 42") and I sat beside him. Chloe and Chris sat beside each other. We all had on our ponchos. Noah and I got the worst of it and the ponchos helped, but we still got wet. I felt like people were giving us crazy looks with our ponchos on, until we got off then I heard quite a few people saying they should have thought of that.

Even though we were headed out of this park we had a special task before we left...

Up next- upgrading our tickets and our rotating dinner!

The Boneyard is a favorite of all of our little ones, especially the little boy cousins.

The Nemo Musical is very well done. I am hoping we can see it again on this trip. I don't think Trent has ever seen it, and Tanya hasn't, and Jill hasn't seen it in the past few trips.

I am planning March as well, but I think I have alot of it squared away. I need to get an update up here. We have been moving things around the house trying to get some stuff out of the kids playroom and ready for a garage sale. It is always something!

I am trying not to feel guilty, Chloe telling me it is ok helps alot. When we go with the kids it is hard to do the over 40" rides and any of the shows, so I am really looking forward to it!

Doncha hate when things like housekeeping get in the way of the Dis?

I get torn bcuz it would be fun to go without Katie but its fun with her - she is 7 but is already 52" tall so this next trip she said she'd go on everything!

I am lazy tonight and am surfing on my phone, so no fun smileys!

Your pictures are great! You are making me reconsider my AKL plans to do the safari first thing. I actually plan to skip it this time because there are other things I've never seen before. Hmm wonder if I can convince DH to go for a few hours on another day?

Won't be long now will it and the girls will be enjoying the Boneyard. Hope you all make it to FN.:goodvibes

How did I not ever sub to your trip report??? :sad2:

Probably because I was such a slacker and it took me forever to get going. I'm still on day 2, so I bet you didn't miss much. Glad to have you back on the DIS!

Nice pix and what sounds like a great day...but no FotLK? For shame!

I know for real! I have to admit that at that time I liked FotLK, but it wasn't a must-do.

:laughing:Right now I am avoiding my housework. I know, I know, step away from the laptop! Cleaning is no fun.:sad1:

I have to remind myself that Chris and I need a vacation by ourselves. I know we will take the kids again, and it may be sooner than I had orginally thought.

Thanks! The safari is always on our must list. Hope you can find a way to get to do it.

you guys had a great day at AK! you were able to get just about everything in, we skipped FOTLK last year and the year before, too. Thinking we may have to be sure to add it in this fall. I did not know about a "special seat" on Kali RR; use to be one of my favorite rides but the last few years never gave it much thought. I bet Ashton would really enjoy it. We missed out on Camp Minnie/Mickey too thinking I need to really work on AK this coming visit!

Bummer that Noah didn't make it on Dinosaur. I didn't try taking the girls on it because I thought it would freak them out. Looking back, they probably would have surprised me and loved it! I'm impressed that Chloe rode on it twice!
