How bad is that? I am 33 and miss watching Bear in the Big Blue House. :rotfl:

When DS9 was little it was on Playhouse Disney all the time. With new ones being showed every other week. Now it's Breakfast With Bear. :guilty:
I guess what brought this up was when DH and I were at Wal Mart {I know, the dreadful Wal Mart to some :lmao: } and they had Bear in the Big Blue House Live DVD for $5.50, so I got it for DD6. There are some parts on this DVD that they do during the Playhouse Disney show at WDW that brought memories back from our trip.

Is it just me or does it seem once the lady who did Luna's voice passed away, they stopped making Bear in the Big Blue House?

Another Playhouse Disney show I miss is Out of the Box. DS always liked the crafts that they did and when they played out the story at the end of the show. DD never really was able to get into that show, cause they took it off before she was old enough to understand what they were doing.

I agree with you, my kids loved that show. There WAS something truly comforting about Bear's voice, I feel. I miss it, I thought it was great programming and entertainment for our kids.

I always enjoyed the little speech Bear made at the end of the show. He really said some wise things sometimes.

Disney treated the show kind of as an after thought for some reason. It kept being moved to earlier and earlier hours until it was just too hard to watch it any more. Too bad. :(

I know, I know. I love Bear. We must have most the video tapes DS#1 adored him so. Now they only show it on Saturday and Sunday morning. Breakfast with Bear is OK, but it just doesn't have that same appeal. Poor DS#2 and DS#3. Oh yeah, the video tapes. :goodvibes

I love Bear!
I didn't know that Luna passed away! :guilty:
They could at least show reruns. DD2 doesn't know what she's missing! At least we have a few on vhs.

Oh I loved that show! Bear in the Big Blue House was my favorite kids program of them all. My twins loved it but my youngest used to get scared when Bear would try to sniff him through the TV set. :teeth:

I miss Bear too. When we went to MGM & saw Playhouse Disney, I teared up when Luna & Bear sang the goodbye song. We've got one show Tivo'ed that gets played over & over.

I forgot about Out of the Box. That was a great show. Anything that can give me craft ideas is good! Sbella

I remember watching Bear more than a few times when my kids (now 9 and 6) were preschoolers. It was more enjoyable than most. That show had the same sweet innocent spirit of some of the shows I used to watch way back in the '70's.

I miss Bear too, and my son misses Out of the Box. The new "shows" like the Doodlebops, I just can't stand, for some odd reason.

Now, the Wiggles on the other hand...well, I'll never tire of watching Anthony. (shame on me!)

go check out your Library. Ours has most of the shows on video or dvd. I love the song at the end also.

My DD's loved Bear and even got to dance with him at PlayhouseDisney - they still look at those pictures and talk about it. Another show I really miss - although not Disney - is Gullah Gullah island. So much for parents of past preschoolers programming :rotfl2:

Another Bear fan here! :wave2: We have a bunch of VHS tapes of Bear shows as well as the soundtrack on cassette and CD :) . I just loved Pip & Pop, they still crack me up! :rotfl2: We used to have the Playhouse Disney lineup...Bear in the Big Blue House, Stanley, P B & J Otter, Book of Pooh, Out of the Box. Never was a Rolie Polie Olie fan, only because of the babytalk Zoey LOL. I think it started to go downhill when they brought on that Clay thing. :guilty:

add me to the list of Bear fans
Bear"s Birthday was actually the first live show my kids went to see
btw now I have the Out of the Box song playing through my head :confused3
and I really loved Stanley

Yep. So much of what I loved to watch with my DD 8 is no longer around for my youngest who is almost 2. Wah! We miss Bear, Rolie Polie Olie, PB&J Otter and Stanley something fierce. They still show old episodes of Stanley when they show Charlie and Lola, so at least my smaller ones still see him.

I loved Bear in the Big Blue House. I thought that it was such a sweet show!!! I also miss Out of the Box too!!! I definetly could do without the Doodlebops and Charlie and Lola!!!

Unfortunely she did back in 2003.

This is the actress who did Luna's voice......Lynne Thigpen

Here's a webpage that lists everything she was in. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0858106/
Bear In the Big Blue House is listed as number 14.

She also did "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?" She played the Cheif.

I really liked her and thought she was a good actress.

I hadn't heard that she died. Sad.

I always loved Ojo. Ojo's voice was great too, made you wanna just pick her up and hug her.
