Beach Toys & Butter Tubs...Help Me!

Ok, we're headed to the beach with extended family in early August. There will be 13 adults and 6 kids ages 6 and under! We all have beach toys (I mean my part of the fam lives on the beach), but I was thinking the other day, that there has got to be some stuff around the house that I should pack.

NOW I NEED YOUR HELP!
Help me add to my list! Look around the house and clean out the junk drawers! It's time to think outside of the box! Let's also think about different ways to use standard beach things like beach balls.

Not only will this save money and promote reusing things we might throw out, but it will promote using our imaginations!
Let's think of things for sand fun, beach games, and remembrance items.

(Now I want to make sure that everyone knows that all items will be removed from the beach and properly disposed of.)

THE LIST:
Butter and sour cream tubs and other disposable food storage containers (Great for castle building, holding treasures, etc -- Can poke holes in some...)
Cheap funnel
Empty water bottles (a little sand in the bottom makes great bowling pins!)
Spray bottles (not from chemicals-maybe a little food coloring in water to tint the sand?!?)
Powdered laundry detergent scoops
Drinking straws for "writing," making flags for castles

ANYONE ELSE? Even if it seems obvious, let me know! It might not be obvious to others!
ETA: I'm going to just keep adding to the list above.:)

what a neat thread idea.

I can not think of anything else right now.

OK, we likie to make sand "sculptures" with colored sidewalk chalk and baby food, jelly, or other small jars. You color the sand with the chalk and layer the different colors in the jars. this can even be done in plastic containers like bottles, but not as pretty.

duh slapping head. I know I want have an empty butter tub before next saturday. But I will have several empty baby food plastic containers. I could take a few of those for DD #1 who is 5. DD # 2 will be 9 months on the 21st. I dont use powdered detergent so no scoops. I could poke hoes in the baby food containers or how about yogurt containers. water bottles would be good and a ball hmmm I dont think her beach ball would knock down the sand water bottles.
we are taking a frisbee and a kite with us. as well as the few sand toys we have.

I think I will take my empty dish soap bottle to use and add the food coloring to the water in it. Not sure if I have any other squirt bottles. will have to look.

What if if you just put a little bit of sand in the bottom? Not filled up all the way, but just enough that the wind won't carry them away. :confused3

Just another thought on the baby food jars. What if you did shell designs around in the sand? Those little tiny shells? Maybe put some just on the inside of the walls?

i dont think her beachball would work even for a little bit of sand as it is one you blow up. ButI was planning on getting her a ball to play with with her sister in the hotel. SO that might work.

Oh, I see...

I think I'm cleaning out the fridge tonight! lol. I may have to run to the dollar Tree tomorrow and look at the kitchen stuff!
I also bought some stuff to make homemade bubble solution!

oh what are the amounts for homemade bubbles.
I agree a dollar tree run might be in order. I could get a funnel for sure. I like the straw idea.

I think I am almost out of clorox wipes so I might clean that container out. I wonder if I should leave it whole or cut it in half. then she could use the lid as a funnel.
shampoo and conditioner bottles. I noticed this morning that they were almost empty.

Oh, I think I just put a body wash container in the can this morning! I'll have to pull that out! lol.

Magic Bubbles Recipe

Makes long lasting strong bubbles.
You'll need:
1/4 cup of liquid dishwashing soap
1/2 cup of water
3 tsps. glycerin (in the pharmacy dept.)

Combine the glycerin and water. Pour in the dishwashing soap.
Store in covered jars.

I've heard that the Tear Free Baby Shampoo works too. Might be good if it pops near eyes. We'll see.

thanks

how about gatorade or powerade bottles. DH goes thru 2 of these a day at work.
