Are there beach toys (pails, shovels, etc.) available for the little ones at Castaway Cay? Do they get the kids meal served in a pail like at Typhoon Lagoon? I hate to have to pack a set or pay for an expensive set when we have lots of them at home.

There are some beach toys available at the kids' club on CC. I am not sure whether or not they will allow you to borrow some. There are beach toys available for sale at CC, but they are very pricey! I would recomment packing some that you already have. They don't really take up too much room, you can pack other items in the buckets, etc.

We brought some and used them in St. Maarten and CC, and were glad we brought them.

:) Pack it!. We didn't and our 2 1/2 year old didn't have one on CC and cried because all the other kids had one. It cost us $17.00 on CC when it is like 2.50 at Walmart or Target. Was worth it though as our son stopped crying and had a great time. The second time we went we took the same bucket and shovel in a duval back with all kind of beach toys. Going a third time in March and can't wait. Now we have two boys and will have to bring enough for both.

We are cruising for the first time next month on the Wonder with our 22 month old daughter. We don't want to pack sand toys so what we plan on doing is ordering a Gift Basket from Shirley to include sand toys. I saw this advice somewhere on these boards and thought it was an awesome idea since our DD can get some sand toys and snacks/drinks for all of us...plus a set of Mickey Ears!!!!

buy sand toys now! They are cheap everywhere now that summer is over...most places around here have them 25-75% off! snorkeling equipment is cheap now too...we got sets for everyone last year and spent way less than 1 day rental, plus now we can use them again! :cool1:

We were at Disney World before our cruise and bought each of the kids a souveneir bucket of popcorn and they took the buckets with them on the cruise and used them to play in the sand. Just another idea.

We were at Disney World before our cruise on the Wonder. We had dinner at Ohana and they served our boys desserts in a bucket w/ a shovel so I washed them out and brought them with us. The kids loved it.
They do sell buckets and shovels on the island though.

I buy cheap buckets and shovels from the $$ Store. After we use them on beach excursions and CC, we leave them on CC. Usually we go back to the ship early and find some kids who are digging in the sand with their hands and tell them that they can keep them. I use the bucket space to pack souviners and I don't mind leaving them since they only cost me $1 each.

I love that idea of buying them and leaving them there for another kid to use. I'll bet you just make his/her day! I think we'll do that! After all they are just $1 or $2.

Thanks for the ideas!

Every year we've been fortunate to borrow some from castmembers at Castaway Cay. I can't imagine packing them--so much less room for shoes!

P.S. Can someone remind me how to update my sig line?

You can get a countdown timer at tickerfactory.com, and copy and paste it in your user cp.. :goodvibes

Thanks. We haven't booked yet, though. We're assuming 10/22, but are waiting for confirmation (we go through my husband's business). I just wanted to change the part that says I'm waiting for my cruise in '04. :-)

I am also ordering baskets from The Perfect Gift! I am having so much fun deciding on what to put in them!

Every cruise I order a basket for my daughter packed in a sand pail....She uses it on CC and then we just leave it there...I don't like to bring anything home I dont need to...even the toothbrushes get tossed out before we leave the ship! :sunny:

Check you local Big Lots. I scored with a Mickey and Minnie sand set for 3 bucks! The bucket is small with a picture of Mickey. The molds are Disney characters. I put it away for a cruise next year...

I packed our pails and shovels and am glad I did as my DS 3 did not want to do anything but play in the sand. He wanted nothing to do with the water nor the floats. We also drove down to Disney so the extra wasn't a big deal for us. I purchased them from the dollar store and left them behind (we went back tothe ship early) as another kid wanted to continue to play with them.
