Beach Club

Anyone have an opinion about Stormalong Bay being too young for DS13 and DD11. Is it geared mostly to toddler/younger kids?

I think it is just the opposite. SAB is not a place for toddlers and younger kids to enjoy without direct and constant supervision. Particularly the lazy river portion. Teens are probably ok if they know how to swim. The water gets real deep in many areas and the current is significant.

There are areas where it is well suited for younger ones, but for the most part this is a big kids pool. (4 pools actually)

Sarcasm will do you no good.:rolleyes1
I want to try BCV, and will try, and try, and wait list and hope, and get pixie dust, and if Mickey is smiling on me, I will get a room;)

Keep trying to get in even until the week before. I did that this summer and was rewarded for my patience about a week before I was supposed to check-in. I scored a 1BR at BC in July.:thumbsup2

I totally agree with this statement, but I want to add that the areas for younger ones are large and awesome. There is a large sandbottomed pool with two beach type areas for sand castle building. There is also a kids slide that my 4 year old loves. We put our 4 year old in a life vest and let him ride both slides. He does not swim at all, but he loves the slides. Our 2 year old loved playing in the sand with the water lapping up on her. There is also a typical baby pool that is about 12 inches deep, but very few people were using it when we were there because the big pool was so good for the little ones.

I've stayed on the hotel side, but never in the DVC part. Our hotel room had a great view of the boardwalk and the bridge to Epcot. That was great, but our room was a very long walk to the elevators.

A lot of people like B&C, but my wife will never let us eat there again. The food was not so great and some of their staff need some lessons on when they should be using gloves when touching the food.

I'd be willing to stay there when the kids are older just for the pool, but I'm happy with BWV.

After reading some things, this will be my strategy. :cool2:
As I will already have what I want at BVW, it's really a no lose situation. DH loved BWV, but kids want to try something different.(AKV was my favorite so far:love: )
Even if I can't get the whole ressie changed, I may just take a few days if they are at the beginning or end of the trip.

Anyone out there have photos of Stormalong Bay, or a link to some:confused:
Thanks

Great photos, DisDaydreamer. :thumbsup2

Have I mentioned, I just got an acceptance on an offer to buy at BCV? :lmao:

YAY! :yay:

We recently stayed there Sept. 30-Oct. 5 during the Food & Wine festival. It was very nice, great location, great pool, and clean Studio type room. We really enjoyed being next door to EPCOT. It was very convenient to have the novelty of walking back to our room after Extra Magic Hours at night and after Illuminations. In other words, we were able to avoid the mad dash for the buses and the monorail when the park was closing. When we used the bus service for the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. We will definitely stay at Beach Club again.

ITA....love that it is a walk to and from Epcot. My younger son and I always close down Epcot when staying at the BC.....That is our favorite resort even though we are SSR owners...love it there also but the BC is our fav.....:thumbsup2

We just stayed there 4 nights for Food & Wine. It was fantastic to be able to walk to Epcot. It was our Epcot trip really, we spent 4 days out of 5 there. Ate to our belly's content and wandered home after many tastes of wine.

The one thing I will do different next time is have an adults only evening and drop my DS(8yo) at Sandcastle Club (which doesn't open til 4:30 pm, but stays open until midnight). We took a quick tour and there are 4 PS games, and 2 Wii stations, plus they feed the kiddos dinner if they're there over dinner (You should have seen the size of one kid's Mac & Cheese) and there is a quiet room for movies, and other play areas for the younger kids.

And I thought that Stormalong Bay is the best pool on any resort, it's like having a waterpark at your own hotel! I'm so glad I bought there, and can't wait until Food & Wine 2009!

BCV is my favorite... love the workout facilities (yes, we exercise some); but they Yachtmans steakhouse is great, but the pool has the best poolside eatery of any DVC we have stayed at... only one better is the Polynesian... (Captain Hook's)

Mom of 4 ---BCV has it all for them... took my son when he was 6w.o. (had to squeeze it in before maternity leave expired) and the zero entry pool is perfect! However, as mine have gotten older, we too discovered the limitation of the pool on the "other" side of the bridge...

My 4yo almost drowned year before last coming down the slide and we placed a life vest on him. Promptly went home and placed him on the summer swim league .... however, last summer at 5 yo he had trouble in the "swirling" section.. whatever it's called... strong currents and have to watch mine very closely...

great pool for teens... great convenience to Epcot... love not catching buses... and the best restaraunts are at Epcot for us... until Alfredo's closed down... can't get over that still...

Pretty at Xmas and the Kitchen Sink is a must do at Beaches and Cream.... the kids really get into that...
