I'm more curious than anything. I'll be tickled pink with the 2BR Villa we have reserved, but I'm wondering whether there's any chance of getting upgraded and, if so, WHAT might they upgrade to? Anyone every been upgraded when staying at a BCV?

If you have a 2 bedroom reserved, there is nothing to be upgraded to, that is the largest room BCV has.

There is no club level for BCV - you're maxed out already with a 2 BR!

(Aside from the fact that DVC upgrades just about never happen, but we did get one when paying cash at BCV, but if it's a points reservation - your chances of any upgrade anywhere are too small to even calculate!)

DVC upgrades are very very very very very rare( possible if staying on cash ressie and more likely from a studio to a 1bdr)..There isn't anything to be upgrade to once you book a 2 bdr..

Oh well! LOL! We are paying cash versus using DVC points, but it sounds like that doesn't matter. Maybe we'll be lucky and get an outstanding view. ;)

I thought BCV had 3 bedrooms? Oh well. What's Concierge Level, and is it offered for BCV?

VWL & BCV do not have 3 bedroom villas because they are small resorts. AKV is the only DVC with a concierge level (and they only have five 2 bedroom lockoffs for concierge).

I don't consider this an "upgrade" but here's what happened to us. In June '08, had ressies at BCV for 2BR -- 2 DD's, DGD (16), DGD (14), DGS (13), DGS (18 mos) & me DGM! When we arrived, they said they had no 2BRV for us, but they would move us to 2 rooms at YC. Well, with teenagers and a baby, boys & girls, I said that won't work. We ended up with three regular rooms at YC, ground level, water view, with club level access. This was all well and good, but we had paid for Dining anyway so we only used the club level access for breakfast. Our rooms were not connecting and we were very disappointed that we could gather in one big room once in a while as hoped. Then again -- we were at the WORLD -- we had a blast! :)

I don't want to rain on your parade but BCV does not have great views. You are getting prime location and access to the best pool on property, don't be disappointed with the views.

We are just back from a short two night stay at the BCV for the Pin Event that was going on at EC and we booked a studio with an AP rate and we were given a free upgrade to a 1BR. It is very nice but rack rate is listed at $510 plus tax for this time of year for a 1BR and I am sorry but it not work $510 a night plus tax. JMHO of course. For $219 plus tax it was worth it.

About 7 years ago we had booked a 2BR Villa for cash. We had a total of 5 adults and 2 young kids, and when we arrived were informed the 2BR Villas were oversold (or whatever term they used), and they didn't have one for us.

We were a bit bummed (to say the least), until they informed us that we had been upgraded to - get this - the presidential suite at the BC! Stupid me, thinking that we needed all the room a 2BR Villa offered, asked the cast member, "do we really want to stay there?"

Both my wife and cast member looked at me like I had a horn growing out of my head. The cast member gave a very confident nod, and said, "Trust me, you want to stay there." If you've ever seen the Samantha Brown Great Hotels show where they do the Disney hotels, they showcase the suite. It was incredibly amazing, and needless to say we had plenty of room! This was really our first family Disney trip, and we were definitely spoiled by the experience.

So while it doesn't sound like upgrades happen all that often - they do occur! Have a great time!

That is a good story - love your reaction as well! I've seen the photos and that is one room I would love to be in!

As the above posters mentioned, a 2 bdr villa is the largest sized room available at BCV. What you are thinking of (3 bdr villas) are actually referred to as "Grand Villas" and can be found at most other DVC resorts (Saratoga Springs, BWV, Old Key West, AKV, to name a few- sorry I don't have my DVC book near to look it up so this is off the top of my head).

Upgrades, in general, at DVC resorts are VERY rare. DVC resorts are interesting because they are unlike typical hotels in the sense that Disney really isn't losing money if a DVC villa sits empty (i.e. is unoccupied) for one night versus a disney resort room (such as the deluxe resorts) sitting empty for one night. Sure, DVC has to pay housekeepers and whatnot for the upkeep of the villas, but much less operating money has to be used to upkeep these DVC villas compared to a hotel room that loses cash when a room sits empty. This is because DVC members have already agreed by contract to pay for their respective point allotment, and are required to pay monthly maintenance fees on top of that.

Therefore, you are very, very lucky if you receive an upgrade at a DVC resort. :)

We has this happen last year at the BCV/BC.We booked a 1BDRM villa but when we went to check in they offered us 2 connecting rooms at BC on concierge level, with 3 day passes and the dining plan. We were only staying there 3 nights anyway. The villas were oversold so thats why they offered what they did. Needless to say we were thrilled. It was great, would have loved to try for the 1BDRM again this year but we are staying at WL. Cant wait!

Ok, so BCV may not have views, but some rooms do have better balconys than others. Our room, (230 I think) had a HUGE balcony, a nice view of a quiet courtyard and high Illuminations views from the balcony.

If you could find the exact same room, two floors up (for better fireworks views) I think that would be perfect.

We were upgraded on our first trip in May of '08 from a 1 bedroom at the villas to a two bedroom suite at Beach club resort. It overlooked the quiet pool and had a view of crescent lake. We were literally a two minute walk to the entrance to gateway. It was amazing!! So to the person who said it never happens well it did. When we got home I checked the price difference and it was $6000 for the week. It was an absolutely perfect and very magical vacation that we'll never forget.

While reading through this thread it brings one question to mind....does BCV typically overbook their rooms?

No, DVC resorts don't overbook. They can't, really, with the way the point system works. DVC resorts typically run at very high occupancy, especially the small resorts like BCV. That's part of the reason that upgrades are extremely rare at DVC resorts; there just aren't a lot of villas sitting empty to move people into. Usually, you'll only see an upgrade if a villa needs to be taken out of service for a serious maintenance problem, and there aren't any other villas of that category available. I'm sure that's what happened in the case of the poster who got put in a suite at BC. All of the 2-bedroom villas were occupied, and the one they were assigned to probably had a maintenance issue. They couldn't downgrade them to a one-bedroom villa, so the only option was to move them to another resort.
