We will be staying at the BC (standard room) this coming weekend, will be there 4 days. Anyway, this will be our first time there and I wanted to hear as much helpful info as I can from the BC experts. Are there any rooms, floors & areas that are preferred over others? How far a walk is it from Epcot? TIA :sunny:

Hope you enjoy your stay at the Beach Club. Depending on your room location, you walk to EPCOT is about 5-10 minutes. Being able to walk right out of EPCOT after Illumations is a joy..
Her are some other fun tips:
Take time to have ice cream at Beaches and Cream.. great sundaes!
Enjoy the lazy river and sand bottom pool
Sit along the beach at night and watch the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk, or walk on over to the Boardwalk after a quiet dinner and enjoy games, shopping, etc.
Most of all , you'll be in WDW, so enjoy! :sunny:

One morning, we wandered over to Cape May Cafe without any reservation, and happened to get in for breakfast. It was wonderful!! And, of course, the characters were great!

And, of course, Beaches and Cream has wonderful ice cream, as well as burgers and hot dogs. We sat on the stools and stuffed our face one afternoon! ;)

Thank you ladies, we are really looking forward to it. Yes, the idea of walking out of Epcot to one's resort is VERY appealing, can't wait. We've been to Beaches and Cream before, but not Cape May Cafe; I should call to make PS. I didn't know there was a lazy river at SAB, sounds great!

I'm going to print the responses. Thanks!

Another cool thing is that MGM is a short boat ride away. Or if you don't want to wait, you can walk over to it.

WooHooo!!! :cool1:
It's what I live for... We'll be there this weekend too - on the 5th floor - beginning Saturday morning for 8 days. :hourglass

We like the rooms on the third floor near the lobby elevator when we don't stay concierge level. For some reason we've always had very good service in that area but, most of all, it's nice not to have to push the stroller down seemingly endless hallways at the end of the day.

Those teens hanging out each morning in the lobby trading pins with Art the Greeter or lurking around Japan waiting for miyuki's lollipops will likely be ours! The close proximity to WS and MGM make it terrific for hopping in and out without taking up an entire day.

A PS is recommended for Cape May but, so far, we've never had a problem getting seated for either breakfast or dinner without one as long as we were willing to wait 15 or 20 minutes for a table to open up. Never hurts to ask if you're hungry...

We picked up our own noodle for the pool last year at the walmart and the guards were fine with it. Hoping this year it's acceptable also as our kiddles aren't too into the tubes.

The mudslides at Beaches & Cream are terrific too. Who needs the kitchen sink when they have such great sundaes that I don't have to share at all? Mudslides for everyone please...

*trade pins - or just chat with Art the Greeter
*@ Beaches and Cream may I recommend the Frozen Sunshine
*get your whole family to walk over to the Boardwalk and rent a surrey bike, you'll laugh (and peddle) hard!
*Jellyrolls in the evening, get a pile of singles right away
*Cape May for breakfast, because who can resist a smile with Goofy in swim trunks.
*Frozen adult beverage from Hurricane Hanna's and enjoy the vacation music

OK, well these are the things I'll be doing in a couple of weeks and I can't wait. :cool1:

Definitely take time out to enjoy the pool. Actually, if you can swing a day off from the parks and hang out at the resort that would be good. One of the things we regretted when we stayed at BC was not being able to have some down time and enjoy the atmosphere there. Next trip we're definitely doing that. Nothing like enjoying a sundae from Beaches and Cream while sitting by the pool.

My favorite things to do at BC/YC:

Early morning walks to MGM & Broardwalk.
Popping in WS
Sitting on the beach at night
SAB
Market place for ice cream/coffee
sitting in lobbys
Beachs n' Cream
sitting on the porch at YC
fitness club
fireworks
sounds of the shuttle boats

I'am ready to go back

Ahhhh...my favorite place in the world; it really is home for me.

Everyone above mentioned great stuff. Here's one more. If you're strolling the BW around 9 PM, but don't feel like going into Epcot, stand on the bridge between the BC and BW areas and you'll see almost all of the fireworks. We do this every year, when my family from the surrounding area meets us for dinner.

Enjoy. We'll be there in December! :teleport: :teleport: :teleport: :teleport: :teleport: :teleport:

You're in for a treal treat. We were just at the Beach Club, 7/2-7/10 and it was a magical stay. We're still thinking about it - can't get over it. We had stayed there before, but several years ago. They have updated the rooms and they are much lighter and airier. I loved it. We booked a standard room and what we did was fax in a request 3 days prior asking for a nice view of something other than a parking lot, and either a patio or full balconcy. Some of the balconies are standing balconies. They granted our request!! It's not a far walk to Epcot, maybe 5-10 minutes. And, you can walk or take a boat launch to MGM. Not to mention all the dining options along the Boardwalk - and don't forget the Swan and Dolphin. Excellent restaurants there - like Blue Zoo,Shulas, Garden Grove, Kimonos. The Epcot resort area is fabulous!

And, don't forget, your resort has the best pool on property - Stormalong Bay.

have fun.

I love the Beach Club! You don't need to hit the water parks Rita if you are there. The pool is great! Everyone else has pretty much already given my hints but I just wanted to say that I think you will love it. It is a great resort.

You have received wonderful information. All very relevant and helpful. One thing we enjoy is the quiet pool at the BC. We really love SAB, however, once in a while it is great to relax and swim in this "hidden treasure". :goodvibes

Bridget, it doesn't sound like we'll be going to the water parks, no need. ;)

I'm going to print these. Thanks everyone! The kids are really excited and I'm looking forward to staying at a new resort. :goodvibes

RitaZ -

::MinnieMo Be sure to go down the Jib slide at least once.

::MickeyMo Trade pins with Art the Greeter.

::MinnieMo Enjoy a treat at Beaches 'n Cream!

:sunny:Have a great time! :sunny:

Look at the resort floorplan. You don't need or want to go to the lobby when you go to EPCOT. Stairs or back elevator to exit on the EPCOT side of the resort. Some rooms appear to be closer to the International Gateway than they are to the lobby.
