The winter storm that is raging along the East Coast has left 300,000 ithout power from Atlanta to Charlotte, and it's headed north/northeast, with ice and snow predicted in the mid-Atlantoc and New England states.

Be careful, be patient, and keep in mind "this too shall pass".

And please check on your elderly neighbors to make sure they are OK!

Guess I better remember to take my flashlight back to school with me and make sure my cell phone is charged. It's thanks to this storm that I have to spend an extra night (more likely 2 nights) at school. I came home on Monday, intending to drive up tomorrow afternoon to take my one and only final. Instead, mom's bringing me back tonight, and will pick me up either tomorrow night or Saturday morning, whenever the roads are clear :guilty:

Ugh! I assume this is the same storm that's headed for our area tonight.. Hope we only end up on the frnges of it..

Of course on the "bright" side, if there's snow day tomorrow my DGD and I can bake our Christmas cookies then instead of Saturday.. :flower:

Weather channel is predicting early morning rain and temps in the 40's tomorrow for NYC, so I'm not concerned for our area. That forcast sounds like Chistmas at WDW!!! ::MickeyMo

The snow is already starting here and supposed to continue till tomorrow afternoon :guilty:

Thanks! Yes, I'm going back next semester. I really am happy there, just don't want to have to spend the extra time there now

My roommate just called and told me some finals were moved from tomorrow till Saturday. The storm cancellation line didn't have any cancellations on it though

I think that's the same storm that dumped a bunch of snow on us. It wasn't toooo bad when it came through Wisconsin. Keep save everyone!

Things are bad over here in southeast MI. I went out today to go to a rehersal for DD Christmas concernt tonight. I deceided that it was so messy out nothing else with worth going out for. Just got a call. DD's concernt is canceled. Just as well there is no way there would be enough parking for all the parents and such, they can't keep the parking lots cleared.

I'm hoping for mostly rain on LI. I was supposed to go see the Rockerfeller Center tree tomorrow but that got cancelled because of the possible transit strike. So now I am supposed to go ice skating. I really hate the winter weather.

I don't want this mess. :guilty: Back in Jan we were without electric for a week because of 2 back to back ice storms. :guilty: But we did buy a portable generator afterwards so that we wouldn't get caught again. This storm my neighbor is up (he normally lives in NJ, but has a home here too) so if we loose electic this time, we will have him come over to our house.
I don't know when it first started to snow, but it was before lunch, and it is still going strong.

It's just a cold, cold rain here but areas east of us are getting the ice/sleet/snow. We're in the upper 30's right now so I hope the temp doesn't dip enough for this rain to turn into something messier.

I just got an e-mail from our regional manager in VA, and al our VA stores are in teh process of closing, and he's pulled all company vehicles off the road. Hope everyone's paycheck gets their on time, they are supposed to arrive via FedEx today for distribution tomorrow, and according to our payroll girl, a lot of our employees in that state aren't on direct deposit. :(

I'm probably about 1/2 hour south of you and it started snowing here around 1:00 this afternoon. It started out pretty light, but it's coming down now. I heard so many forecasts, who knows what to believe. WNEP said 3-6" then ice, weather.com said about 1", then ice. Either way, I'm not looking forward to losing power and heat overnight.

I don't think it is a mater of letting, this is going to happen no mater what I say. I just wish DH was home now instead of driving from your side of town to Royal Oak (schoolcraft college is where he works.)

it's freezing rain here right now (upstate/western NY) and everything is glazed over. It looks like I might have to cancel grocery shopping again and that would really stink since we have no food! lol Travel safe everyone!
