Be safe out there **Bad Weather Alert**

My school is curtailing operations beginning 3 am tomorrow through 4 am Saturday. All finals for tomorrow are now Saturday, and the new schedule was supposed to be online 15 minutes ago but isn't yet, so I'm now waiting to see whether or not I have to go back to school tonight. Dorms are staying open now until Sunday (they were closing Saturday afternoon). Absolute crazieness. If my final is early on Saturday I will go back tonight, otherwise I'm home until Saturday. The storm is supposed to be out of here around 6 tomorrow night. I'd definitely rather stay home, especially since the first floor (no rooms on that floor) of my dorm was apparently flooded today by sprinklers, but if I have to I'll be going back.

Edit: my final is now late Saturday afternoon, so I get to stay here, and will drive up Saturday. Course I'll miss half the Christmas party at my house now  Did I ever mention that while snow is great, I hate ice storms?

I'm probably about 1/2 hour south of you and it started snowing here around 1:00 this afternoon. It started out pretty light, but it's coming down now. I heard so many forecasts, who knows what to believe. WNEP said 3-6" then ice, weather.com said about 1", then ice. Either way, I'm not looking forward to losing power and heat overnight.

Do you have another heat source? We have a small wood stove, though that plays hell with my allergies and Asthma.

Not anymore. My kids and I just moved out of our house last week, which had a coal stove. Our apartment is only electric heat.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHERN VERMONT BETWEEN 9 PM AND 1 AM...AS ONE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVES THROUGH THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES REGION...AND ANOTHER MOVES ALONG THE MID ATLANTIC STATES REGION OVERNIGHT. MOISTURE WILL OVER RIDE SUB FREEZING AIR TRAPPED AT THE SURFACE FRIDAY MORNING. THE SNOW ON FRIDAY WILL MIX WITH AND CHANGE TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE...AS THE LOW MOVES FROM NORTHERN NEW JERSEY TO CENTRAL NEW ENGLAND BY NOONTIME.

SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES WILL OCCUR...WITH THE GREATER AMOUNTS OVER THE GREEN MOUNTAINS. ALSO...ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TENTH OF AN INCH OR SO WILL BE POSSIBLE IN SOME LOCATIONS.

Theres the forcast for southern VT
