Be Prepared for the weather here

I find this post hilarious!! Sorry, I live in Utah. It is 9 degrees outside my house right now. It's noon- not like midnight or something. If it gets up to 25, we all go outside without coats and jackets on. Highs in the 60s sounds pretty darn warm and cozy to me. ;)

Yup! Me too! Our high today is 17 and we are getting snow at about an inch an hour! 60 sounds quite tropical!

sounds cozy to me too. BUT - I hope it warms up by the 5th. :)

I had a mental discussion with myself about how much I really wanted/needed to go get the mail. 60s sounds downright balmy, but probably not if it were my vacation!

Haha! I would love it to be that cosy. It's barely getting above freezing here these days. infact it has snowed so much in the past 2 weeks that I feel like I'm living in a snow globe! :rotfl:

Most days it not getting above freezing which is really unusual. Yeah it gets cold but not that cold for that long. Anyway I just keep thinking about CC and the cosy weather there. lol

I guess this just proves that warm weather is all relative. I remember when we cruised in Jan 2007. You could tell who was used to cold (like freezing) temps and who was not. The locals were all bundled up in long sleeves and jackets while those of us from cold places were in shorts and t-shirts. Too funny.

Too funny. I cruised in November last year and there was a cold front moving through and a constant breeze. I think it was around 70 degrees. Oddly, I was the only cold person in my group. While on the beach, my friends were all sunbathing. I was bundled up in my beach towel shivering. Quite obvious I was the only real Southerner.

I sincerely realize that our weather will not faze a lot of folks from up North, but I just felt that you should know that we are having cold weather and although it isn't as cold as you are, believe me, its cold to me :-)) and if nothing else, just maybe the kids would be more affected than the adults -
Anyhow enjoy

Thanks for the info. I will pack an extra sweatshirt this time. Last year it was in the high 30's/low 40's in January @ PC when we woke up the morning of our cruise:eek:. Even coming from New England I was COLD! Of course all I wore was a sweater without a jacket because I thought "Florida, I won't need a jacket. One less thing to lug around/pack." So I ran to Walmart that morning & picked up a light jacket & of couse a ton of other things because it's Walmart & whoever heard of walking out of there w/just one thing:laughing:. By the time we came out of Walmart, it was warming up & probably about 60 degrees. DH put shorts on! And by that time I didn't feel like I needed my jacket anymore. As far as kids go.....DS14 will TRY to leave the house with shorts & a tshirt in the middle of February during a snowstorm! At some point in time I guess it became "uncool" to dress warm:confused3

Sorry I couldn't resist after reading a few posts.

There is no such thing as cold! Only absence of heat!:lmao::rotfl:

I know that during these cold periods (and the reallike) the wind off the ocean makes it feel colder - usually I have a number of cruisers call and asking me where is the closest place they can go pick up some extra sweaters etc since they didn't come prepared.

Thanks for the imput and Disneyhead your comment sure hit the spot ;-))

PS we did have ice on our windshield this morning with a 38 temp

This is so true! In March, the temp was 75 to 80. And it was still chilly because the of the wind. I was so glad I packed a jacket and a couple pairs of jeans. Swimming on the ship was freezing. As soon as we stepped out of the pool our teeth were chattering, but my DD didn't care as most kids don't. At Castaway Cay, it was nice on the beach but man the water was cold!!!!

We just left NJ at 6:30 a.m. and were so happy to land back here in Florida. I was freezing the whole time I was there, and we've only been gone three years. It just reconfirmed that we made the right decision. Brrr!!!

It is 14 degrees and going down to 4 degrees tonight in Connecticut. Winds at 41 mph...making it feel well below zero. I will love the 60's in my shorts and t-shirt.....but do hope for 70's.:beach:

I can not and I MEAN CAN NOT imagine coping with such heavy duty weather - being born and raised in Key West and being a Florida girl all my life, I really can not imagine all that has been posted here - I guess our weather does seem like Spring to each of you, but darn it COLD IS COLD regardless :-))
Stay warm and safe
much love always
