Heard on another thread that BCV rooms will be refurbished. We will be staying in a one bedroom Jan 18 - 23. Anyone know how far along they will be with refurbishments by then? Do they start on top floors and then work their way down? I am trying to detemine how to best make my reservations request. Thanks!

We stayed at BCV 11/29 - 12/6, and they were working on the third floor. When we were at the front desk for something else, I asked a CM what kind of work they were doing. (There was a sign near the elevators saying that the third floor was not accessible by that elevator due to the refurbishment.) She didn't know exactly what they were doing, but she thought that they worked from the bottom floor up.

We stayed on the 2nd floor last month and it was beautiful. The carpet was clean and smelled fresh. I suspect the 2nd floor has already been done.

Stayed on the second floor this past week and everything seemed in good shape. They were steam cleaning the carpets though on the first floor. Other than that, we didn't notice any other refurbishing going on.

Very cool! I guess I have been out of the loop lately as I didn't realize my home was being renovated!

I stayed at the bCV last week. I was in room 320,

The carpet on the third floor looked new. The drapes and bedding in my room looked new also. I asked the housekeeping lady and was informed that they had just done a 'soft' refurb on the third floor.
I later asked a manager I found in the lobby about changing the TVs for HD LCD's and thus copying the BC and was told that there were no plans to do so for the forseeable.

Ho hum!

We were in room 341 Dec. 3-7 when they were rehabbing the third floor, Our area was only accessable via the pool elevator. When we were checking out on Sunday, the "suit" was waiting for us to leave so they could install the portable door to our hallway. He told us the plan was to move all the furniture from the rooms on one side of the hall to the other then replace the carpeting. They were also sending out the sofas for a recovering and touching up the furniture. After the new carpeting is installed in the units, they reverse the process and do the other side of the hall's rooms.

He told us the new TVs for the villas won't be in until late 09.

Well I was just there last week and stayed in room 261 (studio)
This was my first time staying at BCV and boy was I disappointed.
The room is so much smaller than the BWV and having that stupid table there in front of the couch.... makes much less room when you are actually using the sofa as a bed.

I'm glad to hear that they will be updating these rooms though.
I hate the decor (compared to others) and the room itself just needs to be better. The Blue comforters and the red dust ruffle... Gross.

As the rooms are now - I wont be going out of my way to stay there again.
But once the renovations are completed I may be willing to give them a try again.

Everything that I have read about the BCV refurb suggests that it is a "soft goods" refurbishment. That means new linens, carpet, wallcoverings--a general freshening-up of the room.

The resort is only 6 years old so I wouldn't expect any major renovations.

Thanks for the replies everyone! It sounds like the best request to make is for a room on the third floor. We are sooo excited for our trip. BCV is our favorite resort by far and it will be even better with a little sprucing up. :thumbsup2

Funny you mention the table, I've seen people staying at BWV complain about the lack of a coffee table.

I've seen the square footage figures posted, I thought they were close.

Edit: I found the thread. BWV is 359 square feet vs BCV 356.

Hopefully when they are finished touching up the rooms, they will give the exterior some attention. When we were there a few weeks ago, I noticed that the paint on the outside is very dirty and grungy looking. Not complaining, just an observation.

We were there 2 weeks ago and had a 2 bedroom lockoff on the 5th floor. The softgoods had not yet been refurbished but I still considered things to be in good condition and personally wouldn't be too concerned about getting a non-refurbished room if you don't get the request. I did contact engineering b/c we had a very difficult time getting the sliding doors out to the balcony to lock. They did come up and took care of the problem. Also, the internet connection box in the 1 bedroom part had come loose so we couldn't get a connection there (it worked in the studio part however and I had a wireless router so no biggie) but the IT help dept sent someone over who got everything fixed up for the next person!

Funny thing on the decor. From the pictures I really had not thought I would care for it much but thought it was fine once I was there. Now, it's not what I would have in my home.....but it was fine for my vacation "home"!

Enjoy your stay - we sure did!!!!! :goodvibes
