BCV concerns

We're staying at BCV in November...our first Disney trip. I was excited, but now am worried about the conditions. I can't (and won't) tolerate any room that is not CLEAN! I believe I will call and ask that our room be inspected before we arrive. We travel extensively and have never, ever had a dirty room. Since we are "renting", what can we do to help the situation? Those of you who "own" have a right to be upset and take action!

We've stayed at the BCV twice so far and both times were great. No problems at all. Wonderful stays. For all the reported "bad" stays, there probably are many, many more "good" stays that go unreported.

Your room will be clean - don't let a few posts on the internet override your good judgement or make you crazy.

Yes, a very few people had a problem and posted here about it. The overwhleming majority of people do not and they also do not post on the internet. FWIW, evey resort onproperty seems to take a turn on this same subject. This month, it's BCV. In all of our many, many visits to various WDW resorts, we've never had any "cleanliness" problems.

Try not too worry - especially since it's not something under your control. Since you are an experienced traveler, you will know how to handle any problem that you may encounter.

Best wishes -

I've stayed at BCV several times so far, and the rooms have all been very clean. I can't stand dirty accommodations when I travel either, but I've had no cleanliness issues with any of the DVC resorts I've stayed at so far. :D

Go back to being excited. I have a feeling that you will love BCV. :sunny:

We just got back from the BCV--I don't think you will have any problems.
They told us our room was not ready--we found out the room number and went and checked it out--It was spotless--and housekeeping told us they weren't finished cleaning it yet!

Hope all goes well and your trip is excellent.
Be sure to enjoy Stormalong Bay!!!!

I am one of those that did have a problem with two dirty rooms. Last August, we had a two bedroom unit at the BCV and it was immaculate. This year, we had one room where popcorn was left on the living floor, I did get the room switched for other reasons as well. The second unit we were assigned, the master bathroom floor was dirty and also had hair on the toilet seat and the floor, which was not ours. To not ruin the trip for those in our party, I cleaned the bathroom floor and toilet myself. Furniture was also damaged as well in this room. Had this been our first room, I would have called and complained and had someone else clean it. We have been DVC members since 1998 and this was the first time I have felt that the housekeeping was not up to par.

I do not feel that writing about the problems we have had in our units is a way to look like disgruntled owners on this message board, but to see if our instance was just a one time thing or to see if it is a commonplace problem that needs to be addressed.

Three stays over the past couple of years and no problems with cleanliness for us. My sister and sister in law have also stayed in separate rooms at the same time as us and they didn't have any problems either. I don't doubt that some people have had issues but the vast majority of people don't and you never hear a peep from them. Don't worry about your trip. It's just the BCV's turn to take it on the chin right now.

we try to stay at the BCV , its our home resort, we just love it there and so far we have had great rooms no problems. go and enjoy your vacation especially SAB.

I stayed with my wife and four kids at the BCV last Thanksgiving, and our 2BR villa was clean and in good shape.

Overall we have not had problems. But we did have a problem visit last Nov. When I have a problem I believe in reporting it. Like they say a problem doesn't get solved unless it is known.

I'll add my voice to the "don't be so concerned" column. We have stayed there twice and found no reason to be alarmed.

Please don't be concerned. I know how you feel because I had the same concerns right before our last trip in December. I had also been reading alot of complaints on the boards about BCV for many differant reasons. When we got there, there was no reason to be worried at all. We did have a couple of things break while we were there, but we called and told them and they came immediately to fix the problem. We will be there again in 23 days and we can't wait.

Stop worrying and go have a blast:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc .

We have had 7 studios in 5 visits and they have all been very clean! During those visits we have called housekeeping/maintenance for a sink stopper & ice cube trays and to fix a bathroom door handle and the tv (previous residents had unplugged the cable from the back of tv). All of these items were delivered or fixed promptly. Don't worry, it's a great resort and remember, if something isn't satisfactory, I've found that Disney is usually super at taking care of things quickly and efficiently.

The probablility of you getting room with something wrong is low;
however, there should be a zero probability not a low probability. The members will be writting letters to the management with their conerns and they should be addressed. BCV has the one of the best pools for a resort in the country. So don't suffer from anxiety over what you read, the odds are with you for a clean room. Think of the pool and relax.:D

When I bought BWV at the end of 1999, there were similiar reports being posted about BWV. I took a chance and bought there anyway because I liked the location. I've stayed there 5 times and never had a complaint. I think BCV will straighten out too, but only if they know about problems. I hate it when people complain about problems here but never say a word to mangement at the resort.

Just remember for every bad room report you read here on the DIS there are probably hundreds of other room stays that went off without a hitch. It is human nature to express displeasure when something goes wrong but most people don't go into as much detail (or even mention it at all) when something goes right. I have stayed in a DVC resort every year (sometimes more than once a year) for the last 12 years. I have never had a dirty room. I am not saying it doesn't happen, I am sure it does, people can make mistakes, or you have a bad housekeeper. Just rest assured that it isn't the norm. If something is wrong, just let the management know and they are usually very accomodating.

I would be a little concerned if I was yourself. I find BCV to be poorly maintained compared to the other DVC resorts and to me it was just not up to snuff the few times I have stayed there. I get the feeling the BC/YC treats BCV as kinda of a minor league hotel to the BC and YC.JMHO But I just cannot get over how every time I see BCV the outside looks so dirty and always looks like it needs to be whitewashed. The Dunes Cove pool is another area which I cannot believe is less then two years old, the pool ladder is rusty and the pool tiles are all cracked. So it is not just the interior of BCV that is being poorly maintained.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. As said earlier, all the resorts go through this 'bad press' cycle at some point.

No DVC resort is perfect, but all are pretty darn close!

Maistre Gracey,
Good to see you posting again!
I agree with your sentiment exactly.
And if anyone has any concerns about the BCV, just check the resale board--if it so bad, why are there NO listings????

Have a great trip!

We just returned from a 1 wk stay in a 1BR at BCV last week. Our unit was immaculate. And as far as "outside" issues, and the exterior looking dirty, while we were there, both this visit and in March, we always saw painting or powerwashing going on. The FL heat and rain requires constant maintenance. Don't worry! One thing I learned when we first bought, is that I would read all the bad reports, then get on my trip and start "looking" for things to not be the way they should be. Result? Endless fretting over things that were really inconsequential.

I'm sure you'll have a great stay! :flower1:
