BC View, Cash night, AK

Hi!
We are staying at the Beach Club for the first time this January. The kids cannot wait to swim & play at SAB!! We will be staying in a 2 bedroom.

A few questions for experienced DVCers....
1. Which view is the best view to request for Beach Club? I think it would be neat to have a view of EPCOT, but can you see anything?? Can you see fireworks??

2. We have requested a 2 bdrm with the 2nd bedroom having 2 queen beds. When I asked about DVC cash discounted nights (we would like to stay over the weekend), the DVC rep said that cash discounted nights are only offerred on dedicated 2 bedrooms & we won't be able to get one on the room we requested. Is this true?? (I have been mislead by DVC reps before).

3. We have been DVC members since 1992, so since then, we have always stayed at a DVC resort (I cannot justify staying somewhere else). But, since we are staying over a weekend night & will pay cash for that night anyway (Sat night when we arrive), we thought it would be fun to stay someplace new just for that night. Any recommendations?? (we have young children). I was thinking about Animal Kingdom with a Savannah view... is it worth it??? How is the AK pool???

I am not a big fan of switching rooms (I think the hassle is larger than it sounds)... but I understand your reasoning, and I suspect that we will do the same.

Since you have to switch rooms... I think the AK Savannah view is a great choice. In the past, we spent one night on the the top floor of the Contemporary in the corner closest to MK. That was fun for small kids too... to watch the fireworks from the room on our day or arrival.

Regarding BCV. I have never had an Epcot view (We have spent months in a lagoon view room in the hotel).... but I would be suspect of the view. You are looking at the back of epcot... and also overlooking the road. I think that I would prefer a view of the quiet pool, or a garden view at BCV.

This will give you an idea of “sectional views”. It is extremely difficult to ask for a specific room (as well as trying on the CM’s). With the new room ready policy, guests have reported getting several choices at check-in and this may than help

Someone had posted awhile ago that they had a cash night and were told they could not stay in the 2 bedroom with the 2 queens in the second bedroom, that they were reserved for points only. I guess because there are only a few of them and they are highly requested, similiar to the boardwalk view at BWV.

If you are planning to go to Animal Kingdom Lodge for the two cash nights, they do have AP rates of $125 for parking lot, and $145 for pool view. I can't remember savannah view. You can get conceirge savannah view for about $400 per night, if you really want to live it up. I am staying conceirge for the first time in my life this summer when we have to pay cash for our Fri-Sat nights, due to a shortage of points. I love their pool, especially the zero entrance, which is great for the little kids and me. I will be recovering from surgery at that time and can't do steps so I am happy about their pool. It really is a lovely resort, and I view the cash nights as a way to try out the different resorts.

We had the Epcot view at BCV. It was great waking up to Spaceship Earth. Each night we had great view of illuminations. If you wanted to look down at the road you could, but since we had such a great view looking out at Epcot there was no need to look down! Noise was not a problem.

The AKL SV is fantastic. It such fun that it is an attraction all to itself. Make sure you go down and walk around and talk with the CMs on the look outs. The pool is very nice. Jiko, the more formal dining location, is fabulous. Bona is likely the best buffet on property. AKL has a diversel collection of art and crafts to wonder around and enjoy.

Hey! That's our plan in Feburary! We are going down during President's week. This year we visited AKL for dinner and animal viewing and my DH & DD(7) decided we HAD to stay there a couple nights next time. I think the resort theme is so much different than BCV that it is worth the switch. The resort is an attraction in itself!

I still have to decide if we will go to AKL before or after BCV and what room type (Sav., Dlx Sav. or Con.) But that's another thread. My DH really wants to go on the sunrise safari but that would take going concierge $$$! Anyone up for a grand gathering safari with us? (that would save us some $$ instead of going concierge!)

As far as views at BCV... We had a 1st fl. pool view. Well, actually it was canal view, we couldn't quite see the pool. It was nice. I'm tempted to try try Epcot view, but think we would probably enjoy pool view better.

This is correct and in addition Members can not request them. They have to book them at the time the reservation is made and there are only 25 of them and they go very quickly.
