We are planning to rent points to stay in a 1-bdrm villa at the BC. I am attempting to find a way around the high point values on Friday and Saturdays, especially since this would be over Thanksgiving weekend – thus a higher point value. If I made a reservation for a week, could I use my points for certain days and pay cash the other days? The points breakdown per day is as follows:

Monday – 24
Tuesday – 24
Wed. – 30
Thurs – 30
Fri – 60
Sat – 47
Sun – 24
Mon – 24

I am trying to find around using 107 points for 2 days (Fri and Sat). Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

There really aren't any hidden secrets. You could pay cash to stay at another Disney resort (they will transfer your luggage for you), or even pay cash for a room at the same resort. But, even if you can reserve a 1B at BCV at the cash rate, there is a good chance you will have to switch rooms since they will be separate reservations. And you will definitely have to check-in more than once.

Members often have the option of reserving rooms at 25% off of the Rack Rate, and they are quite frequently available on weekends due to the high point costs. But, the stated limitation is that the member MUST be staying in a room reserved with this particular cash discount, so it is unavailable to renters.

If you have 5 or less people, you could move to a studio (of course, that would be kind of a let down on thanksgiving day).

I REALLY don't think I would plan on cash rooms being available that weekend...it's just a really busy time for DVC'ers (that being said....I am a "big chicken" when planning when rooms will be available thru CRO (since you are a 'renter' you might have to go thru CRO to get cash rooms...besides, I seriously doubt cash rooms would be available out of member inventory that day).

Good luck,

You can pay cash for the Friday and Saturday nights if you so choose. You would have to book the cash nights yourself via CRO.

The DVC & CRO reservation systems are separate and don't talk to each other. There is a good chance you will have to change rooms if you book part on points and part for cash via CRO. You can request that you not have to change rooms, but there is no guarantee. You should ask CRO to note the DVC confirmation number on the CRO ressie and ask the DVC nember to haveMS note the CRO number on the points reservation. This will help your chance of staying in the same room. At check in you should repeat the request. At a minimum, you will have to go to the front desk on the day you changes between points and cash to get new room keys.

FWIW, if you are thinking of Thanksgiving 2005, you may already be too late to rent - that is a very popular time for DVC members to visit WDW and BCV is very possibly already booked for that time. If there is any space left, it will be gone by the end of April - just afer the 7 month window opens.

Best wishes -

P.S. I assumed OP is not a DVC member . If that is correct, he is not eligible for the 25% member's cash discount - even if one is available for that time. His only option would be to book the cash portion through CRO and hope for some other type of discount.

I believe cash and points rooms are in different inventories so I expect you would have to move if you could pull it off.

Also, I'm thinking (but just my opinion) that the cash price over Thanksgiving weekend is not going to be pretty if there is any availability.

If you do points and cash (points rental and CRO cash) you may have to move but likely not if you plan. However, there is no way to guarantee you won't have to move.
