I saw some people saying that their BBB hairstyles lasted for several days. I was just wondering if you did anything to it to make it last longer? More hair spray? Wrap it at night?
both of my girl's styles lasted 2 days with no effort on my part, but they both had thick hair down to their waists when they had it done, it took a lot of work on the part of the fairy godmothers to get everything in, we also went swimming (they didn't go under) and slept on them without any issues
I agree, it will stay in 2 days at least with no problem, even on an active younger child. They make it SO tight, use tons of pins (she had a bun princess look) and (as my daugther recalls) they use almost an entire can of heavy hold hairspray. We had to work to take it down at the end (also including a swim on day 2).
Careful what you wish for. I recall anecdotal evidence of girls losing hair (having a bald spot) after keeping their 'very tight' hair buns in place for a few days. I also recall this being mitigated by the use of colorful hair ribbons to replace the 'buns'.
Yes. This happened to a friend's daughter. She had a quarter sized bald spot in the exact place of her bun. Her hair was left in for 2 days. Her hair eventually grew back but it was upsetting in the meantime.
When I was a Fairy Godmother at the boutique I made the hair tight enough to where it wasn't painful or going to cause them to loose hair but the hairstyle lasted. I thought about if it were my child having her hair done I would want it to be comfortable.
Sometimes if you stop at the DTD boutique and they have a moment, you can get your little princess "touched up" a bit if there's some fly aways from the hairstyle. That happend a few times when I was working there.
You can also ask the FGIT to possibly not make the hairstyle too tight if you don't want it to be uncomfortable. I had no issues making it more comfortable for the princess.
The reason I asked was because my daughters appointment is at 1:00 on a Sunday and our CRT lunch is for Monday at 2:05. I was hoping for her hair to still be done for the lunch. Monday night I will take it out.
When our girls had it done, it definitely lasted a couple of days....those fairy Godmothers in training use enough hairspray and gel to hold an elephant in place.
Seriously, my kids slept and woke up with their hair in place.
My DD took hers out after a few hours because the gel/product started flaking so bad and it was making her head itch terribly. She couldn't wait to wash her hair. The same happened to my niece.
So keep in mind it may not last until the next day.
Both my DD's took theirs out by the end of the day. The glitter/gel/hairspray made my lil one breakout along her hairline. Took a lot to scrub it all out.

When my daughter had hers done (princess updo) we did nothing to it except not get it wet and it stayed up like it was (through sleeping) for two full days - we took it down ourselves on the third day for showering. Good lord it was shellacked into place andprobably would have gone several more days!

OP, lots of folks report having their princess keep the hair in for a couple days. Just know going into it that some girls just don't like the feeling of having the hair up, and will want to take it down and wash it that night. My daughter 6 years in a row, and never once wanted to leave it up. Just have a backup plan so it doesn't become a negative memory from your trip. I always took her for the experience, took all my photos, but then when she was ready to take it out, we took it out. For us it was more about the experience than the end result.
I don't know what they put in their hair. Sludge? Cement? Might as well. My DD went in the pool and her hair still stayed put. LOL So no, I wouldn't say you have to do anything special, but if you do, it would probably last that much longer.
Ours was the opposite (and I've heard unusual). My 3 year old has thin hair. We had hers done on the fantasy last April. The fgit definitely shellacked, etc it but it was still coming out by dinner that night and fallen out the next morning after sleeping on it. I know she put all the stuff in because I then had to wash it out.....
That said we're planning on taking her to BBB at MK this august. Hoping it lasts longer.
