Baymax on Board

Does anyone know if and when there will be a Baymax meet & greet on Fantasy? The line was too long on our recent trip to Disneyland, and DS really wants to do a fist bump with Baymax.

It's hard to say. They don't always seem to follow the crowd on popular characters. Some popular characters (such as Rapunzel and most of the villians) have only appeared in the shows and never done meet and greets. They did get Anna and Elsa on board fairly quickly but that was because they were over the top popular.

If it were to happen, it is not likely to be very soon. They have to make the necessary arrangements for Baymax to sail and that could take time. Plus, I don't think he's over the top popular so they may wait and see.

Rapunzel, at least, is onboard the Dream right now.

This thread is indicative of the problem with meet & greets -- they are girl-centric. This was a discussion about Baymax, and now it's about princesses instead :rolleyes1

My son has no interest in Rapunzel, Anna or Elsa. Or tea with the princesses. That's why I was asking about Baymax, as it's a cool "boy thing" for a meet & greet. The meet & greet lines at Disneyland have been over an hour long -- I'm sure a bigger attraction than if Rapunzel were out. So to say he's not popular isn't true.

Anyway, fingers crossed that they add Baymax to the ships!

They may have some kind of display up - I know in 2013 they had a Monsters University thing where you could put your head in a square like an ID. But the friends of characters on the ship are much more limited than on land in terms of size requirements and so forth, so it may take a while as someone else said for arrangements to be made so that he can sail.

Even as popular as Frozen is, it took QUITE a while for arrangements to be made for Anna and Elsa to cruise.

There are MANY non-princess character meets - Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Goofy, Chip-n-Dale, Captain Jack...all males.

Since he's an inflatable, I was thinking it wouldn't be that difficult to get him onto the ship. But I'm sure there are always challenges, and things definitely take time.

We will definitely be hitting up the non-princess characters (and are thankful that we don't need to get in line to meet princesses!)

He's also quite large and there could be some difficulty getting him through areas of the ship. We were lucky enough to get in line and see him at WDW last week. My daughter was very excited and got a big hug from him!

We also met Buzz, Hook, Smee and the Genie on the Fantasy recently....so there are definitely some guys in the lineup!

Fun! DS will totally want to meet the Genie, and anyone from Peter Pan as well!

4 weeks to go...can't wait!

Doesn't Baymax always have Hiro with him, though? It's probably not that easy to find someone to play Hiro. It looks to me like they cast medium-height Asian guys in their 20s to be him. Also, just saying, but all the Hiro characters I've seen have also happened to be pretty darn hot. :rolleyes1

I think the main issue is finding a likeness for face characters who are willing to work on the ships.

On our cruise last year they pulled back on the princesses to schedule more meet and greets for boys. They scheduled Captain America numerous times throughout the cruise and each time we walked by he was alone waiting around for someone to take a picture with. I noticed our cruise in September it was back to normal.

Ah, interesting. Maybe the boys just aren't into meeting characters as much. Or maybe superheroes don't do as well (my son would be all over Star Wars meets, but not interested in super heroes.)

Peter Pan is pretty cool for the boys. I was in Shutters one evening with the typical big crowd and Peter Pan came darting through followed closely by four or five boys.

Who is bay max? Never heard of him

This didn't turn into a princess thread anyways. People were sharing information. No need to get upset. Threads are conversations.
