Bathing Suits instead of Ponchos

Well...there are the swim suits that look like skorts that women can wear. But I agree with the uti waiting to happen! Suits are cool in the pool, but not for long days. (Although my parents in law would practically live in them in the summer. But they had a pool and a lake in their backyard, so)

I would look at a company called sparkly skirts. They make skirts that have running shorts under them, plus lots of zipper pockets. That might be a good fit.

We just bring a few of the cheap 1.00 ponchos and throw them away when it stops raining so we dont have to mess with wet poncho.

In my experience they do not provide enough protection in a brisk rain. I use them for Kali River Rapids but not real rain. If I need a poncho, I want a good one.

It is the humidity. When I wore a poncho at WDW in the summer, I was sweating so much that it felt like it was raining inside my poncho.

Hah, that's exactly why I will not use a poncho. The rain is the only semi-cool part of the day and there's no way I'm going to inhibit that with a poncho. I tried it before and took it off within a few minutes. For me, I either use a small umbrella or get wet.

Thanks - damn auto-correct. It won't even let me spell "Yoda" I had to argue with it.

Sparkly does sound more fun though

I believe they are. They are mainly for runners, so they have to be, and they come in swirly-round versions and straight pencil skirt versions.

We do wicking clothing, though if we are going to be doing wet rides all day, the boys will wear board shorts with underarmor style shirts. The athletic wear dept of just about any clothing store will have a wide selection of cute stuff for ladies and it's super easy to find things for the guys. They wear their zip off boy scout hiking pants most of the time, with the legs zipped off. Those are great b/c the cargo pockets hold a ton of stuff and I only have to have a few things in my tiny bag.

Ask any guy how comfortable swim trunks are to walk around in for a long time.

Hint - they aren't and he will chafe and get sores in places he really doesn't want any.

Some guys will cut out the liners of swimsuits and wear more comfortable, wicking boxer briefs or trunks instead. A lot depends on the material, which can be quite variable.

It's also possible to get walking shorts made of a quick drying material.

I got some Nordic Track quick dry t-shirts on sale at Sears. I need to try one out to see how well it works.

I have a few sets of zip off pants, but I find them more practical for cooler weather, when I want to put the legs on in the evening. But as shorts, they're all too long for me. I lived through the 70s and 80s when men's shorts actually were. I have a stockpile of Sears Outdoor Life cargo shorts that meet my needs for now.

I can only speak in regards to mens suits:) I have to disagree to what I have read here about not being comfortable, because if you buy a quality suit they are very comfortable. I have a suit from LL Bean that looks like khaki shorts, that I can walk in all day long because they are so comfortable. I live in Florida and they dry super fast, humidity does not matter, and the mesh is very soft. I got these so that I can go from the swimming pool to the store etc. without needing to change and not looking like I am wearing a bathing suit.

I wore some board shorts and Nike Dri-Fit shirts for a couple days of my last trip. They dried out really quickly after the rain and I was pretty pleased with it.

We did a lot of hopping to and from water parks. I'm sure not all board shorts would be comfortable for all-day wear, but mine were great!

I wish someone had told the woman walking around DL's fantasyland in a string bikini back in March about the no swimsuits rule

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm positive I have seen kids in one piece bathing suits in the Casey's splash area of fantasy land. I just get wet though, if I wear a poncho it's hot and sticky plus I end up wet anyway so I figure I just won't try to stay dry. Nike drifit shorts are the way to go the pockets are fairly functional and they are breathable and dry quickly

I know that feeling all together too well. As a result, I do not wear a poncho. If we are expecting a LOT of rain during the day, I might endeavor to carry an umbrella with me, but more often than not, I just accept that I will get wet, and try to stay out of the rain as much as possible until it is over.

My DW and I do the bathing suit instead of poncho thing on our Sept. trips. I usually wear a dry fit t-shirt and my swim shorts which look just like normal shorts. She wears her boy shorts/surf shorts and a dry fit shirt over her bathing suit top. We have never had any troubles. She doesn't just wear the bathing suit top though so I guessing that since she is covered they don't care.

We got our dry fit shirts from Wal-Mart. They are Champion brand and very light weight, dry quickly and very breathable. I highly recommend them. I believe we paid about $7.00 per shirt and have five (5) of them each.

Depending on where we are going to eat dinner we will stop back by the resort room and change to proper attire.

DH and DS have chimed in on this before with big huge "ouch" expressions on their faces. The mesh "underwear" in trunks/board shorts isn't something most want to wear to walk around in.
Stupid question. How about wearing normal brief under them? Is that ok? Here I am thinking about packing mainly these for DS. He doesnt really have many shorts but alot of swim shorts. Do kods at 11 have these "issues"??

I've worn swim shorts around the park a few times and they were fine. No rashes at all but I also never wear any pants (underwear) at all so that might have helped me over the years.
