So I'm looking for a new bathing suit and am having some trouble. I am looking for a more modest suit and there doesn't seem to be much out there for someone my size. I am a 0, but feel more comfortable covered up. I still want to look young (I'm 27) and hip too. Everything that is conservative seems dowdy or doesn't even come close to my size. Any suggestions? I'm not looking to spend more than $100.

I prefer tankini tops and the shorts style bottoms. But you can also go with board shorts so you don't feel like your butt is hanging out for the world to see. At one point I was 100lbs dripping wet and I still didn't feel like showing off my whole body to the world.

I'm not sure how modest you're looking for. There's everything from tanks that don't show every inch to full coverage (head to foot) burquinis.

Rey Swimwear has cute retro style suits in xs (00/0). They've got some very sweet styles.

Hapari has more contemporary styles of suits and tankinis. Similar to limericki. www.hapari.com

For more coverage, (think short sleeve shirt and covered to knees) try www.hydrochick.com --very cute, very sporty, though a bit more expensive. Wide variety of coverage

I like those rey swimwear suits! That black and with the polkadot trim is adorable!

How about this line? Land's End has a new line that is "more hip" than before.

There are some other suits in your size on the site. I just picked a few samples.

Lands end bathing suits are the "bomb" (my son gave me permission to say that. LOL :goodvibes).
I brought a pink tankini top and swim skirt last year and had a few women compliment me at Blizzard beach last year. It slimmed me down and covered all the :scared1: areas. LOVE them.

This is going to sound very strange but try Victoria's Secret! My DD is quite modest and unfairly well endowed! (she didn't get it from her Mother!)
She could not find a suit that covered the "girls" and gave any support in any of the stores that didn't look like an old lady suit. We were especially looking for buying 2 separate sizes because she is 3 sizes larger on top than bottom. After a very frustrating few days of shopping we looked on line and they were great. They have everything from modest to slightly more than the straps! and in all sizes, and if you are large by the cup size with support. They also run some good sales.

Good luck but take a look at Victoria Secret. They do have small sizes.

i swear by calvin klein swimsuits:thumbsup2
i bought mine at macy's, but other retailers carry them. they have tankini seperates, and many of the tops are sized by number as well as cup size - i.e., you can get up to a d or dd cup in 0 thru 16.

and they look great!

I wear a tankini top and boyshort bottoms. I got mine at JCPenney a few years ago and love it! I love the way they have the same designs, in all sorts of different styles, so you can mix and match.

I second that Lands End swim suits are the bomb! LOL. They are great qualily and also have great styles. You can mix and match colors and styles.

I like Athleta. I purchased a suit from them last year with a seperate swim/short/bottom that comes in real handy for waterparks!!

You can find their website with Old Navy/Banana Republic/ etc.

Lands End is VERY expensive, but the quality is good so it justifies the price.

However, I am very much like you, OP. I am petite, and I dress pretty conservatively. I have purchased several swimsuits that are for mastectomy patients. The neckline is nice and high. To me, that part was the most important.

If you google mastectomy suits, you will see exactly what I mean.

Try going the sports store route. Nike or speedo should do the trick. Aquatic athletes need their tiny performance suits after all.

When I worked sales I covered swim. Nothing tops the woman going off on me because there were no size 4 one pieces I'm August. There were only about 6 of them in all season.

I liked JCPenney. Last year, in their bathing suit dept. they had black shorts and then I bought a few different tops to mix it up. I bought a few tankini-style and a bra type top. Low-rider anything doesn't look good on my mom figure:) These swim shorts covered up my belly button but the tops were cute enough that they weren't matronly. I refuse to dress matronly.

I always buy these suits. They're adorable, mix and match and last forever. I just bought a new one, but I still wear the one I bought three years ago. It looks like new and is still stylish. They are expensive; however, I am always getting 20% off codes from them. I ended up paying about $93.00 for the suit I just bought (tankini top and boy short bottoms) with 20% off and free shipping.

They are also doing free shipping right now. But, if you have a Sears store near you that carries Land's End, you can order online in the store (they have a computer kiosk) and they will ship free to your home. You can also return to Sears.

I'm interested in this topic as well. I am in my low 20s and about 115 lbs, but I have had 2 kids and will NOT be showing my stomach, butt, or thighs probably ever again haha. I will only wear long tankini tops with skirted bottoms, which is hard to find so that it will be (1) inexpensive and (2) not look like it was made for my grandma.

This being the budget board, I hope I can find a CHEAP option :surfweb:
