This is my first post, so bear with me...

We will be in DW in Sept 2005. My DH loves to fish and would like to take a morning to catch some bass. From what I've found online, there seems to be a few different excursions within DW. However, it looks like you have to book the entire boat. Does anyone know if you can book as an individual? Any feedback or suggestions would be great.

Hi, I saw your request and since it has been awhile since we did the fishing thing, back in the early 90's, yes we did have to book the boat ourselves, but it was included on our Grand Plan. We did it several times, the fishing was great, we were picked up at the Polynesian (we were staying there) and hubby, son and I were the only ones.

Frank our guide had danish and juice, coffee for us and off we went, we spent a half day onboard and caught so many bass it was incredible. My son was around 9 at the time had a wonderful time, he loves to fish still.

I know it is expensive but it was very nice, and I imagine that you will love it to. The only extra expense we had was the next time we had him bring live bait and we paid an extra $10 for that. but we caught even more fish, of course its catch and release, but I imagine if you were staying at the campgrounds they might let you keep them.

I have not researched the fishing excursions for a long while but back then there was not a shared fish thing available. You might want to book it and then ask here if anyone would like to share the expense, like they do with some of the fireworks boats.

Oh...also I see your from Saskatoon, well I am from the southern US but have lived here for 7 years now...yep right here on the east side of the river in Toon town....

We will be going to WDW from Sept. 30 till October 10th, coming home for Canadian Thanksgiving... have a great trip!

Hi. We just got back from Fort Wilderness Campground and we booked the fishing excursion. Up to 5 people are allowed on the boat (I tried to get 6 and they said no). It is the same price for one or 5. You should do it. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The guides are so nice. We had Rodger and he took it us to 6 different spots. He ran around putting bait on hooks, taking fish off, etc. We got 5 bass and they were pretty good size. My husband said that he wants to do that again if we go back. Let me know if you have anymore questions. We loved it.

Yes, it is expensive, but also great fun (and I am not into fishing at all). We are doing it again in December. One of the great things about the earliest trip (this is the Epcot area-resports one) is that you go into World Showcase. Here is detailed information. http://www.allearsnet.com/btp/fish.htm
