Has anyone bought the Shea Salt Scrub from Basin and tried to bring it back in your carry-on? Its not liquid (like the sugar scrub) but has the consistency of damp sand. The TSA site is ambiguous at best as to what constitutes a liquid, Gel, etc... so I was hoping to hear some anecdotal experiences.

Thanks so much!

The best way to think of it is thus.....Will the substance hold it's shape if removed from it's container?? I really doubt the salt scrub will. Wrap it up well and put it in checked baggage.

At best it would be considered a gel, which is also prohibited in quantities above 3.4 oz and outside of the quart bag in carry-on. It will need to be placed in your checked baggage.

I agree with the other 2 posters.
I would consider it a gel (I have not tried to take any on the plane, but do have some sand scrub at home.)

I'm still not sure I'd call it a gel, but given that security was tighten, i decided I didn't want to go through the potential hassle and just checked my bag. Security was ridiculously long, and I actually got bomb swabbed because I had a wireless router in my backpack (Which no one said anything about at Midway on my way to Orlando) so I'm guessing it would have been a long and probably fruitless argument that just wasn't worth it.

Wish TSA would be a lot clearer on this on their site.

Again...if something will not hold it's same shape if removed from it's container, then it isn't allowed in anything larger than 3 oz in your carryon. I have the Basin scrub at home..no way would I even think about putting it in my carryon. The TSA site may not be specific but experience has shown me what to expect.
