OMG! I was laughing so hard, DH had to come look over my shoulder! He just forwarded the pics to his staunch-Republican sister.

Y'know, what's so sad is that people are going to look back at this era and be embarrassed that they ever supported Bush. When I was wearing my "Gators for Kerry" button at Epcot the weekend before election day, DH and I met a couple on the bus who commented on my button. The husband was a Viet Nam vet and, from Bush's example in the Middle East, had just realized how wrong the Viet Nam War was. It took him almost 30 years to come to that realization, and the impetus was our current unjust war.

It's very hard for people who consider themselves traditional patriots to have the scales fall from their eyes, very hard.

I stay away (far far away) from anything that is remotely political. Well, usually I do. But something made me open this thread and when I saw those monkey pics...well, I was just furious!

How dare you insult that monkey by implying he looks like Bush! What did the poor monkey ever do to you? That's just as low as it gets and I think you owe the monkey an apology.





It was too funny. I almost choked on my Diet Pepsi.

In all seriousness I do totally agree it's really not fair at all to the poor monkey.

In all honesty, I'm really afraid that this presidency will go down in history as being one of our worst on at least a few issues:
--the bully tactics he uses to cram an issue down our throats (such as his threat of a veto on the ports deal)
--the amount of secrecy and coverups he and his administration perpetuate, especially with regard to the vice-president and Haliburton and the reasons for going to war in Iraq
--the response to Hurricane Katrina
--his blunders in public speech, which seem to be more common than intelligent phrases.

There are a few things that Bush seems to be good at...for example, rallying his base of supporters to scream loud and back him to the death...and keeping the religious right happy. I just wish he would get more advice from his father and consult with his party before making decisions.

Seriously, we look back and wonder how anyone could have supported McCarthy, Nixon, etc. It's no different here. I can't wait until the days when we have to try to explain to kids how people could have thought like Bush apologists do, simply because the concept is both alien and abbhorent to them.

I've tried and tried, but I can't think of a way people could support Bush (not necessarily conservative ideals, but Bush and his method of governing) and still be a decent human being.
