I thought I would add a few from yesterday (March 21). With the kids out of school we took a trip to Maryvale Baseball Park to watch a Cactus League Spring Training game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres. With temperatures in the upper 80's at game time and not a cloud in the sky it was the perfect day for baseball. When I checked ticket status the night before there were 3,000 tickets available so I figured I would just walk to the window and pick up seats next to the dugout. It seemed everyone had the same idea. With an hour before first pitch all that was left were lawn seats and the game was played before a packed crowd.
The first show is a wide angle view from the walkway in left field giving you a panorama shot of Maryvale Baseball Park
In the sixth inning Padres center fielder Jeff DaVanon attempts to steal second base against the Padres with Prince Fielder holding him on at first base.
Milwaukee pitcher (and former Arizona Diamondbacks player) Oscar Villanueva pitches in relief.
Padres center fielder (and former Arizona Diamondbacks player) Jeff DaVanon takes a called strike in the sixth inning.
2007 Rookie of the Year winner and Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun gets ready for a pitch in the second inning.
2007 Cy Young award winner and San Diego Padres ace Jake Peavy warms up in the left field bullpen to start the game.
It was a great game with drama and good pitching. The Brewers came out on top 4-3 handing Peavy a Spring Training loss. This was Peavy's last scheduled Cactus League start before Opening Day. It was a lot of fun but I am paying the price as I look like the reincarnation of the Lobster Man.
