Baseball 08

Yeah, unfortunately, that will be true too. One thing I am interested in trying this summer is the AI Servo focus mode. I didn't know it was even on the camera last summer as I had just bought it towards the very end of the season. Do you use this mode very often?
I use it all the time. Most of the time it is very helpful. But ocasionally it will lock onto the fence in the the backgroud instead of the play at 2nd. I am sure it is user error, but I blame the AI anyway.

I have no doubt that it is AI error. It will probably happen on my camera too. Just faulty equipment. :lmao:

This was cleaner in color, I purposely added some noise and removed some sharpness

My Hokies lost a close one to UNC in the ACC Men's Basketball Tourney yesterday. Got their heads handed to them by UNC's baseball team this weekend. Then got screwed by the NCAA selection committee tonight. But at least it was a nice day at the ballpark.

I thought I would add a few from yesterday (March 21). With the kids out of school we took a trip to Maryvale Baseball Park to watch a Cactus League Spring Training game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres. With temperatures in the upper 80's at game time and not a cloud in the sky it was the perfect day for baseball. When I checked ticket status the night before there were 3,000 tickets available so I figured I would just walk to the window and pick up seats next to the dugout. It seemed everyone had the same idea. With an hour before first pitch all that was left were lawn seats and the game was played before a packed crowd.

It was a great game with drama and good pitching. The Brewers came out on top 4-3 handing Peavy a Spring Training loss. This was Peavy's last scheduled Cactus League start before Opening Day. It was a lot of fun but I am paying the price as I look like the reincarnation of the Lobster Man.

This is the closest we have to baseball right now. DS doing some practicing in the driveway. Taken earlier this month. We still have 3+ weeks before T-Ball starts.

ARRGGGHHH!!!! 3 weekends rained out in a month! Soooo frustrating. We did get 2 in at a tournament yesterday, but the whole day was cancelled today due to weather - after wasting $$ on hotel, restaurants and waiting til noon to get the official word. phooey. It was so cold and dreary yesterday (not to mention completely intrusive fencing all around) I took only 30 pictures!!:rotfl2: Hate these rain outs, can't get into a groove!

Sigh. ok, thanks for letting me vent. C'mon with some pictures folks to tide me over...surely Florida must've gotten some games in? :thumbsup2

p.s. Oliviansmom, I LOVE that picture!

What is the sense... of paying for Expedited Shipping on my brand new 40D when it is RAINING again - this is the 4th rain out we've had in a month!!!:sad2: :sad1:  (where is that angry, head-exploding smilie?)

Our team only plays weekends; there's no room in the schedule for make ups. (generally....here's hoping the local teams will try for some weeknight make up games!)

sigh. I've been so depressed about all the weekend rains, I haven't even OPENED my 40D yet. what's the point? It's so dreary around here!;) At least I've been reading the manual I bought with it.

Okay, thanks for letting me vent! Now, I know everyone west of the mid-Atlantic area must've had some baseball this weekend, please post your pictures!!!:thumbsup2

Could someone tell me how to go about posting a picture? I have never done it on here before and i would like to share some as well. :flower3:

I took the "easy" way out. I joined photobucket (as many here seem to use) uploaded my photos - and after that's done - it gives you the URL code to copy and paste into your post.

Here's my son trying to beat the ball to first. The ball won. But at least they got to play three games today in a tournament.

I can't wait.. my son's first games are this coming up weekend, in a tournament. Can't wait to get some shots.

The Arizona Diamondbacks had their tenth anniversary celebration this weekend so you just had to know I'd be there. I thought I would share a few photos from the festivities.

Players warm up at field level after the retractable roof has opened. This shot shows the new high definition JumboTron the Diamondbacks installed this past off-season. It measures 46 feet high by 163 feet long and the picture is amazing. I have a feeling Trina is NOT going to allow me to get one of those.

Prior to today's game against the Colorado Rockies I was shooting the field and warm-ups. I brought my son Dakota to the game. As I was getting the camera set up he was approached by a member of the Diamondbacks staff and asked if he would like to accompany one of the players out onto the field for introductions and the national anthem. The Diamondbacks select one child for each position and allow them to go out onto the field with the players before each Sunday game. Dakota was assigned to Gold Glove Second Baseman Orlando Hudson. I took this shot of the two of them during the National Anthem.

After the anthem Hudson signed my son's jersey. I may never hear the end of this. He is so excited he has told the story over and over to anyone who will listen. This is what makes baseball so great.

That is really cool that you son got to go out on the field with the players!!! I am going to the Cubs game on Saturday...3rd row up from the the Cubs on deck circle, so i am really excited to see what kind of pictures i will get!!! I just love baseball
