We were talking a bit today about our December trip. My sister (who just turned 21) asked whether there are any bars in DW. I don't drink so I don't have any idea of where to send her. I did tell her about the little bar they have at the values. I have a strange feeling that will end up being enough for her, but if not, where should I send her?

There are tons of places to drink in the World. I think most of the resorts have lounges and/or pool bars, and Epcot has the pub at Rose & Crown, not to mention the kiosks all over the world showcase. And Downtown Disney is undergoing some changes, but I'm sure there are plenty of places to get drinks there.

Oh, I almost forgot the Boardwalk -- I know they have a dance hall, and an ESPN sports bar.

Did someone say bar?

She'll be happy everywhere but Magic Kingdom, which has no alcohol. Epcot is a dream for those who enjoy adult beverages, with a kiosk in each country serving their finest. She can find beverages easily in AK and MGM as well. Every hotel has a bar of somesort, every restaurant except ones located in the MK will have a fairly extensive beverage list.

She can also buy drinks in the hotel gift stores, if I recall.

Awesome. Mom wants to shop at the stores so I can send DSis along to drink. Now I just need to figure out what to do with DD (she's not really into shopping or drinking). Are there any really neat drinks in Epcot or just different beers?

If by "neat drinks," you mean "fancy cocktails," yes, there are a ton ... some of the best known around here are the alcoholic slushies in France (Grand Marnier or ... I forget, maybe Citron?), the Italian margarita [Mexico has margaritas too, of course], the Welsh Dragon at the UK, and the alcoholic tea drinks at China. There's also beer and wine, of course, and more "plain" drinks like tequila in Mexico (I think?), sake in Japan, hard cider in the UK.

If the "neat drinks" was a reference to the "what to do with DD" then there are plenty of things like frozen lemonade, non-alcoholic tea drinks at China, smoothies, etc.

It could have also been partly a heat factor, but last time I had one, the margaritas in Mexico were strong!

As PP's have said, the WS is a great place to try a fun drink. Plus, it is great if you have a mixed group of drinkers (you know what I mean), non-drinkers and kids since they have a variety of drinks and snacks for everyone. It isn't like everyone has to troop into a bar together and wait for one person to gulp down their drink!

For a more "grown up experience" there is Victoria Falls Lounge at AKL. It is more like a bar. But going to the lodge is a treat all in itself. You can walk around and look at the animals, the lobby, everything is gorgeous. The same goes for the Poly and the Tambu Lounge. You can get some great tropical drinks there and the resort is beautiful. The benefit there is it is on the monorail and easy to get to on your way to or from MK.

Definately go to the Boardwalk and enjoy Jellyrolls.
A dueling piano bar. Great time for drinkers and non drinkers.
There's a "jellyrolls facts thread in theme parks
You can read all about it there.

Drinking around the World is one of my favorite topics. Most of these places also have some yummy non-alcoholic drinks and stuff to do other than drink. Here are my favorites:

Polynesian resort - Lounge attached to O'Hana. This has the best Mai Tai outside of Trader Vic's. Lotsa other fruity drinks served in cool glasses or pineapples. You can get it and sit in front of a big TV in the lounge, catch a table in the hall and listen to the eukalele player, or get it in a to go cup with a straw and take it onto the beach to watch Wishes or on the monorail for a quick ride.

Contemporary Resort - California Grill bar. My favorite here is the Cosmopolitan martini. Grab a drink, or two, and head out to the balcony to get a bird's eye view of Wishes. They pipe in the music. I know one can only go up there now if you have reservations; but the bar is also accessible. Just tell the hostess you want to belly up to the Cali Grill bar for a great martini, and you won't have a problem.

Contemporary Resort - The Wave. Haven't been here yet, but I have seen the wine list. This place specializes in wines with twist-off caps. Helps with the world's shortage of cork. Try Jester Shiraz.

Boardwalk Inn & Villas - ESPN. Nice arcade. Decent food. Good place to catch a beer and the game.

Boardwalk - Jellyrolls. Nuff said already.

Boardwalk - Leaping Horse Libations. This is the main pool bar at the DVC Villas. Try their signature mixed drinks.

Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jiko is not only my favorite restaurant, but has an awesome wine list. This is the largest list of African wines in the country. There are also some really nice teas, for those looking for something good sans alcohol.

DHS - 50's Prime Time Cafe has a nice bar. You can get a drink in a to go cup here as well. My favorite here is best in chillier weather. Get hot cocoa with a shot of Rumplemintz or peppermint schnapps. The screwdriver and VW Manhattan is good, too.

AK - The little bar in Africa has awesome hot weather drinks. This is one of the only places I will drink a Pina Colada. Theirs are mighty tasty. You can sit in the shade, enjoy your drink and watch a show. Typically there will be live entertainment here, such as drummers, African dancers and African acrobats at various times of the day.

Epcot - I second each and every statement made here. Two additions, though. Try drinking around the World Showcase. There will be plenty to do in each country while DSis drinks. Rose & Crown and Germany have beer samplers. France, Italy and Germany have wine tastings.

Hope this helps.

Jellyrolls is a blast and a must do every trip :thumbsup2

Kimonos over at the Swan/Dolphin has karaoke and
that can be fun too!

And if she drinks around the world, the orange slush
in Italy is soooo yummy!
