We booked the 10 night Mediterranean cruise for next July. We are so excited! We are a large group-8 adults and 3 kids. Any recommendations for a good hotel not far from the port for the day before? TIA

Although its not near the port, I've stayed multiple times at the Barcelona Airport hotel because they do a free shuttle from the airport and a cheap shuttle to the port (20 euros I think last year). Great hotel and good service. If however you want to be in Barcelona there are some lovely hotels. Anywhere in Las Ramblas is the best option but can't give you any names unfortunately

I booked the 7 night Mediterranean next summer and have been looking for hotels in Barcelona myself. There is a lot of information on the cruise critic forums in regards to the Mediterranean. A lot of people on those forums recommend Hotel Jazz in the Las Ramblas area. It seems like a great location

We stayed at the Hotel Jazz the night before we did the transatlantic in 2014. Really lovely hotel. Just a couple of minutes away from all the central attractions but a bit quieter so a good nights rest. The room was really spacious & good wifi.
It's a short taxi from the airport & a short ride again to the port.
For a big group, it might be worth investigating apartments.

On my first visit to Barcelona in 2010 I stayed at the Hotel Continental Barcelona which was not near the port but right on La Ramblas. It was very convenient to the public transit, nightlife, restaurants, bars and my hotel cost included meals (which was not great but okay). On my second visit to Barcelona in 2014 I wanted to stay away from the busy touristy areas so I stayed at Hotel Praktik Garden which had updated rooms and was close to public transit as well. Although a little further out from the port area it was closer to some of the places I preferred to visit like Sangrada Familia, La Pedrera, Casa Batllo, Arc de Triomf and Park Guell to name my favorite places. On both my trips I joined a Dis group and they made group arrangements at a reasonable cost from key locations to the port. In both cases it was a short walk with my suitcase to meet everyone.

The group arrangements sound like a great idea! Thanks! Tried to see prices for hotel Jazz but still too far away!

I am a planner and have trying to do the same. I was looking at prices this August to get an idea. They seem very reasonable. Actually less than I was expecting.

For larger groups there are also some apartment style hotel options. Casp74 has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom options. We stayed in one of their 2 bed 2.5 bath units in 2011 and 2014. Full kitchen and washer dryer. Great location, a quick walk to Placa Catalunya. Full service with daily cleaning.

This summer we are trying Apartments Sixty Four which is part of the hotel Sixty Two. We booked a 3 bedroom unit. It's located in the Exiample section of Barcelona which is known for it's high end shops and top rated dining.

A few other hotels we have stayed at during past trips to Barcelona-
Hotel 1898- very nice, upscale hotel with rooftop pool and sundeck.
Hotel Constanza - great family room option perfect for a family of 4.

Thanks! Apartment sounds like it may be better for us! Really appreciate all the info!

We stayed at the W, it was very nice. Our room actually looked out to where we saw the Disney Magic pull in. The hotel is VERY modern, in a cool way. We had plenty of room....

We have stayed pre and post DCL cruise in Barcelona 3X. All three times we stayed in the Hotel Praktik Rambla. Go to the link simpleohio provided above. It is farther down on the Ramblas,so it is quiet and a beautiful boutique hotel. It is within walking distance of the Gothic and Born areas,as well as the famous market. Actually, every side street had a great surprise on it. There is a great tapas place across the street, on the corner from the hotel. The hop on hop off buses are just a block away at the Plaza de Catalunya. It's the perfect location. We took a cab to the dock.

I have stayed at the Hotel Eurostars Grand Marina 3 times before and after my cruise. :) It is situated between Las Rambles and the port and a taxi ride to the port only takes 5 minutes :drive:

I am staying at the Acta Atrium Palace in June - the guy I've been working with at Rainbow Barcelona for my pre-cruise stuff recommended the L'Eixample area by a lot over the Las Ramblas area. I don't know what they have for groups that size though. From what I have gathered, hotels there are really not generally set up for more than a couple unless you are talking the big familiar chains like Hilton.

As others have said here, it sounds like renting an apartment for you all would be the far better option for your needs.

Good luck!!
