found this on the DIS main website - - is it still true?:

(11) Have the whole family go into the Barber Shop for a coloring job! Free of charge and painted little Mickey heads on the back of the kids heads. Barber sprinkled 'Mickey dust' on all of us.

If so - that is totally making our list! :cool1:

I believe this was $5. At least it was a few years ago. Anyone done it more recently???

The only time they will do the pixie dust at no charge is if at least one other person in the group is getting a haair cut. And to do the coloring they do charge as they child will have to be in the chair.

When we were there in February DH got his haircut and DD got pixie dust for free! She thought it was pretty awesome!

Just a little bit of caution, hair coloring and water do not mix. Years ago my husband needed a haircut while at Disney so he went to the barbershop. It was his first time ever at Disney so I made him get the blue hair color. From the MK we went to AK and rode Kali River Rapids. His hair was no longer blue but his shirt sure was!

My other computer has the shot off all 3 guys with the mickey head. My sons got a haircut with the head and they gave me pixie dust and my DH a head for free:) Word of warning...we let the get on top in overnight and it hurt the next morning to wash it out...not too fun!

My DS5 got the "cool dude" at the BBB in the castle and it took FOREVER for the stuff to dry. It didn't "hurt" him to wash out (that I recall - of course we left it in for a couple of days before we messed with it....) but it did take some scrubbing which meant a kid who hates being in the shower with the water in his face being in there longer...I got pixie dust when he got his little thing done (I think he would have preferred the barber shop...he wasn't impressed with the girls all around him!) and it was impossible to get the pixie dust out. I literraly had it in my hair for weeks to come despite lots of washing/drying/curling/ect. (not a bad thing necessarily...)

Enjoy!

We have gone to the Barber Shop a number of times. Each and everytime the price has gone up. In March, both of my younger children got their hair cut and finished off with lots of gel and pixie dust. It was 12.50 for the cut AND 5.00 for the pixie dust. Before if you got your hair cut the decorations were free. If you didn't get a hair cut the decorations were 5.00. The first time (2004) it was the best deal in Disney 8.00 with free pixie dust. The price has more than doubled in 6 years.

What do they do for girls, my DD's are curious?

My DD had them just pull her hair up in a bun and then they put the gel and glitter on it...she was 12 then and it was very cute. She was very happy with it. It was a bear to get out and with her long hair it took 3 washings. I washed it for her that night. You will also need to wash it out before you go in the pool.
You can see my DS and DH with it done 3 years ago in my avatar. ;)
