I just checked my ressie online for our $99 October cruise and we have been assigned "your" stateroom! (I'll take good care of it) Now I will be able to decide if I like the clear or metal veranda the best. I checked out your photos of the room on your site and you mention a stairway just past the room. Is this a stairway we can use?( I could swear we used a back staircase during the drill to get to AP...) I will miss being closer to the aft stairs:( , we liked being able to go up to BBB via the stairs. Also, during the drill, what is your muster station? just curious:) I like being aft so I am glad for that, the only thing I don't like is that due to the metal railing, I can't see the view unless I stand up!Can you see over the side of the ship down to the water ok? it looks like a big curve. It looks as though it will be a fairly private veranda though. Is deck 5 filled with kids alot due to the Oceaners club on that deck? TIA,
MJ

Congratulations! I think you will really like 5650 :D :D :D
The "secret" staircase can be used to go up (but not down) and will take you up to a back entrance to Beach Blanket Buffet. It's very handy! You can see right down to the water if you are standing and looking for the railing. It's great...I love to just stand there and gaze down at the ocean. So relaxing. It's larger than the regular verandahs, and as you mentioned, also more private. It feels very cozy due to the way its set up. Even though the kids clubs are on Deck 5, you will barely notice. The only time I ever see the young uns is occasionally when they are being transported up or down the aft staircase. I actually love seeing that, as the counselors use neat tricks like "We're playing the 'let's see who can keep their hand on the magic railing' game" to maintain order! It always cracks me up :jester: :jester:
Your safety drill station will be in Animators Palate, and you will use the "secret" staircase to get there...at all other times, you'll only use that staircase to go up.
I'm sure you saw that I have a whole page on my website devoted to 5650. I wasn't able to illustrate it too well in photos, but hopefully you got some idea of how secluded (and therefore quiet) it is. Have a great trip in the "Barb & Tony Suite!!"

Thanks Barb:D Glad to know I'm not getting too forgetful in my old age! That staircase will be wonderful for DH and I! We went up so much more than we went down(we like to eat outside, and ate all our meals but dinner at BBB) I'm with you, I love being near the water and looking down on it ( really great at night!) And I too sleep with a noise machine because of DH's snoring so I will LOVE the engine noise:) I'm also glad to know ther's not much hall traffic, that's really nice. You can bet I've checked out all the photos on your site of 5650:D Thanks again for all the great info:D :D :D :D

and only paying $258 total (how cool is that! more $ for conk coolers!)

One slight warning...
The engine noise increases as you are docking. Usually what happens is that it gets loud enough to wake me up, but not to prevent me from falling right back to sleep after thinking fuzzily, "Ah! We must be at the port." Hubby uses it as a wake-up call, as he loves to watch the ship dock. Unless you really like to sleep late, it won't be an inconvenience because it doesn't happen all that early in the morning. I think the noise occurs when they kick on those side thrusters!

Thanks for the warning! It won't bother us though, we like to get up and watch the docking, we also like to get up to BBB before it gets too busy:)
