I am wondering what the opinion is here of the announcement yesterday that JP Morgan/Chase is buying out and merging with BankOne? Since the Disney Visa is put out by BankOne is it possible we might see dramatic changes in benefits with this card, or possibly the card even go away or switch institutions?

In all of the time that I have had a credit card, I have never been involved with a card at the time that it's issuing institution either was bought out or merged with another.

I've had one card change banks, didn't notice any changes, but it wasn't a card I really used and no longer have. I can't imagine the rewards program would change, that's controlled by Disney. I'm not sure who has final word on annual fees and interest rates.

1) It won't change anything.
2) There is a contract in place between Disney and BanKOne.
3) During a buyout-merger, all contracts are still honored.

One of the reason J.P. Morgan bought Bank One was to get its credit card operation. The question is when the contract is up is Morgan in a stronger position than BankOne would have been and will be in a better position to dictate terms more favorable for them.
