Our annual point allotment is 150 points. I have already banked 70 points for 2005. I may have to cancel one of our trips to Disney, but I won't know for sure for awhile yet. My question is if I want to bank the rest of my points (80 remaining), when do I have to do it by...March 31st or June 30th?

Thanks for any info!

Need to know your use year to answer. The 100% deadline is the end of the 6th month following your use year.

For example, if you have an August use year, your 100% deadline is the end of the following January.

My UY is October. If I am banking my total # of points, but not all at once, do I go by the 100% deadline or the 50% deadline?

Thanks again!

You have until March 31 to bank 100%. After March 31, you could only bank a total of 50%, so no more than 75 total or 5 more than the 70 you already have banked. After July 31, you could not bank anymore because you aleady have more than 25% banked.

Just to add a bit to Debbie's answer -

You can call 150 times and bank 1 point at a time if you like (not recommending that you do that, of course, LOL). As long as the last call is made before the end of March (which is your 100% deadline for an October use year), you can bank all 150.

Thanks so much for your explanations. I guess I have to decide by March 31st if we are taking our June trip.

Thanks again!!!

If you bank all of your points and later decide to take a trip, you can simply borrow from the next Use Year if desired. It's probably better to bank them and then have to borrow for a trip during that Use Year than to risk losing them due to expiration.

Enjoy!

Call me weird, but I bank all my points into the next use year if there is even the slightest indication that I might not use my DVC that particular year. You can always borrow the points back into the current use year if you need to make a reservation. For me - better dsafe than sorry.

I didn't realize you could borrow back your points!

I knew you guys would have all the answers!!!

Thank you so much!!!

The points you would be borrowing would be next years. The banked points remained banked.

And the borrowed points stay borrowed, too. There's no going back.

Once you bank or borrow, you must use the points before the end of the use year into which they were banked or borrowed. If you don't they will expire and be lost to you.

But you can still amke reservations on banked points. Meaning, if it is your 2005 use year and you have banked all your points to 2006, you can still make reservations in 2005 by "borrowing" points from 2006.

You cannot borrow banked points. You would have to borrow points from the following Use Year if points are needed for a trip in the current Use Year.

Once points have been banked or borrowed, they cannot be returned to their original Use Year and cannot be banked again.
