Banking points question

Ok - so we're getting 210 in September of this year. We prob won't be planning a trip until Sept of next year (2008) so i have until Feb 29 07 to bank this years points - that much i get.

do they come available September 1 2008 along with my new alotment?

so if we were booking a trip for Sept 9th 08 arrival we would have 420 at our disposal?

and if we banked them and decided to come the last week in august/first week in sept we would have to borrow 2008 points to "pay" for the august week and use our banked points to pay for sept's week?

is that right?

I was reading in the Disney Members Benefits Guide in the policies and guidelines section that "Reservations for Disney Collection Accommodations may be requested only as follows:

Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts Hotels : 11 months to 2 days before requested check-in date"

If their own policy states check in - why does everyone here say check out?

The Disney Collection is different than DVC resorts. The rules for DVC resorts are 11 months out for home resort from day of check out for that day. If you need 7 days you either have to wait the additional 7 days to reserve all at 11 months from check out at your home resort or do some version of calling day by day. You can replace 11 months with 7 months for non home resort reservations. Disney Collection, Concierge, DCL, etc are totally different and under the discretion of DVD.

The Disney Collection is all the other WDW resorts that you can book with points as well as the ones at Disneyland California, Paris and the Disney Cruise.

If you had gotten past the Feb 29th date, what would have happened to your points? Do you need to bank by 6 months?

At the point of banking do they then become next years points, thus the need for you to borrow your 2008 allotment to get back into pre-September bookings?

I think the banking date for this year's (one's you will get Sept 2007) points is end of Feb 2008 in this case. They then become 2008 points and must be used by Aug 31 2009.

I think the banking date for this year's (one's you will get Sept 2007) points is end of Feb 2008 in this case. They then become 2008 points and must be used by Aug 31 2009. If you miss the 6 month date you can then bank 50% by the end of April or 25% by the end of June. This is % of total points you own. You will need to use those you did not bank by the end of Aug 2008.

sorry my bad - typo - i meant Feb 2008 not Feb 2007 - hard to bank points by feb 07 when you haven't received them yet LOL

at the 6 month mark if you haven't banked any points you can only bank 50% the other 50% you either have to use, rent out, transfer out or loose. i'm guessing that's why you'll sometimes see posts in the rent section saying 110 points for rent expire on XX, 07
