Banking, Borrowing, & 11 month window

Just a quick question, If you only have a small contract and want to rent a big place, can you book 11 months out even though you can't get your points because of UY until closer to the date.

Example:

UY is August 05, Want to book December 06. Could you book in January but not be able to get all the points together until August or do all of the points have to be in your account before you can make a reservation?

You book your reservation 11-months out, and it is based on points that will be in your account at the time of the vacation. They do not have to be in your account at the time you book the reservation.


You can call in Jan '06, and in that one call, bank any 2005 points, use any 2006 points necessary, and borrow any 2007 points if needed, and make your Dec 2006 reservation.

Keep in mind, Jan 31, 2006 is the last day you can bank 100% of your 2005 points if you're going to do that.

Your ability to book has little to do with your use year. You can book 11 months out. The accounting is done by use year.
ie. February use year
"05 UY points are available for a STAY from February '05-January '06
'06 UY points are available for a STAY from February '06-January '07

Reservations are made at the 11 and 7 month booking windows regardless of use year.

You will have to bank your August 05 points into your August 06 useyear before you make this reservation. Your August 06 points are available to be used during the August 06 year at any time (As long as you are in the booking window). You do not have to wait until August 06 to book with those points.

Case in point -- 3 weeks ago, I booked March 2006 using Feb 2007 points (Borrowed)

Think of it this way - all the points for the remainder of your contract are already in your account. They are not "deposited" when the use year starts. So you need to look at your dates of stay and which use year would be applicable (not the date you book the reservation), also considering the prior and next use year for banking and borrowing.
