Baltimore BOT-Fest

Maybe I need to go back to last summer's posts but I don't remember the heat/humidity bothering me this much in the past. I seriously haven't been able to run more than 3 or 4 good miles before the wheels fall off and I run/walk/shuffle the rest of the way. Yuck!

I don't think its been so damn hot so early in the year for the past few years. It's only June! This morning's run was one of the worst I've had so far - the heat and humidity are too much.

I picked the right week to be hurt & not to run. This humidity SUCKS! Thanks be to those who invented AC.

Chester & Tracy - Happy belated Anniversary!!

Cindy - Glad you still have a pulse....does Matt?

Howard - I really want to run on Sunday...tomorrow a.m. I'm going to try the running shoe theory.

Mike - What time of day are you running? Humidity sucks the life out of me...now give me a day like the Philly Marathon & I'm all set!:thumbsup2

Where are the rest of you D-bags?

I am on my deck on Hilton Head Island and drinking morning coffee watching runners on the beach, happy because I already got 3 miles in this morning at 7 a.m.:thumbsup2

Lou- Congratulations on your award. That's fantastic!

Jodi- How are your legs/feet doing?

Howard- Belated Happy Birthday

Chester & Tracy- Belated Anniversary

Cindy- Stay cool

Jen- Thanks for the feedback on the show. It was a ton of fun at the World of Color premiere. Plus, the show is incredible. Really amazing!

Hello Judy and Megan :wave2:

Greetings to everyone else out there too!

So, I've been trying to get more regular in my running. Right now I'm just doing 3 milers, but I'm trying to get 4-5 runs/week in. Even in this crazy heat and humidty I've been getting my 3 milers in.

So yesterday we had an earthquake. It was centered up in Colleenland... er... I mean Canada, but we could feel it in Rochester. Pretty crazy.

Have a great day my friends.

Hmmmmmm... sooooo.... I seem to be noticing a trend after my posts...

where's the *crickets chirping* smilie?

Oh well, I'm just going to keep posting whether you like it or not. I had a weird dream last night with my Bot friends in it. I dreamt we were all running the NY Marathon. However, I was still outside the city (I'm not sure where I was). It was Saturday the weekend of the race. I woke up at 5am to meet everyone to get ready for the race. I needed to be at the starting line at 6am, and that's when I realized it would take me 4 hours to get to NYC. I told everyone I wouldn't be able to run the race, and you all went without me. Jodi and Colleen were taking a "bullet train" into the city that would take about an hour, Cindy was driving, and I'm not sure how everyone else was getting there.

After everyone left, I thought "hmmmm, Jodi and Colleen have an hour on the train. How are they going to make it to the starting line?" That's when I realized the race was Sunday not Saturday, and I had my dates messed up. I was so dissapointed that I could have run with everyone afterall. It was all very strange.

Very strange indeed! It seems as if your conscience is getting to you, my ever-so-absent-Bot. You aren't even coming down for MCM, are you? I know, I know, you're too busy blogging, pod-casting & traveling :cool2:. AND you have over 1,000 friends on FB!! Oh, oh, AND you met the mer'ho in Disneyland.
 Can't you do WISH reports for the podcast or something? This way you can travel to different running events around the country & we can all re-connect with Mr. Popular :snooty:.

Aaah, I knew my friend Jodi would be quick to reply. I was thinking the dream was reminiscent of someone getting us all to agree to run the Baltimore Marathon, and then at the last minute deciding they couldn't go...

But you didn't go either, so I don't think you get to rag on Jodi for that.

D'OH! But I only didn't go because I was so heartbroken that Jodi wasn't going to be there. Although, I also didn't go to the NYC Half Marathon, so I guess I'm losing credibility by the minute.

Aaaaaand their off! :rotfl:

Just got off the phone with my sister. She's with my Dad now. We've been getting tons of run around from banks, insurance companies, etc. about getting my Dad into assisted living. The latest thing is that the long-term care insurance company needs to screen Dad themselves (not take the Doctor's word) before they will approve Dad going into assisted living. He just got the screening, and we were told Dad has classic signs of early dementia and cognitive impairment. Plus his house and living conditions are attrocious (sp?). It sounds like we will get the report we need for Dad's approval, but it was very hard to hear confirmation of Dad's condition.

There's a photo of my Dad having lunch today with my sister on my FB page for those that want to see him. I know many of you met him during the MCM in 2007. He looks very frail to me.

Dave - I'm glad to hear that your dad is going to get the assistance he needs, as bittersweet as it is for you  It will be load off your mind, for sure.

Dave - Oh NO you aren't trying to dog me for not running in Baltimore...where you didn't even show either! And NYC?? Puh-lease! You had theater tickets, a room reserved & got through the lottery and STILL didn't show . I think this conversation has concluded!:snooty:

Cindy - Thank you for re-freshing our finger-wagging-bot's memory as to where has & hasn't shown up :thumbsup2.

Judy - Have your houseguests arrived?

Well peeps, it's not going to happen. I'm not running in Fairfield tomorrow :sad1::sad2:. I went to the chiropractor today & he worked on it some more & really helped. He also commented that if I had seen him right :sad2:when I hurt it last week I woulda been able to make it tomorrow. I could still probably run tomorrow, but I don't wanna mess up my chances for running that marathon on July 30.

Good luck to Judy, Howard & Charlie tomorrow!! WISH I could be there!:yay::sad1:

HOLD IT WENCH! You'd better be there to cheer us on! Don't be a douche bag.

Dave - Here's hoping everything works out for the best with your dad.

Jodi - Sorry you're a no go.

Howard, Charle, Judy - Best of luck or more likely. I hope your race went well.

I could still probably run tomorrow, but I don't wanna mess up my chances for running that marathon on July 30.
Call me "Mr. Out of The Loop", but what is this marathon of which you speak?

Colleen - Still sipping wine in SC?

A busy Saturday for us. Kathy and the 2 oldest girls took an 18 hour round trip bus trip up to NYC with their dance company to take a class with the Rockettes. #3 was the lone participant in the swim meet this morning and spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa since I'm working tonight. Obviously, not much of a chance to run today.

Drive by...back from our beach vacation, but off to a swim meet today. We had a good time at Hilton Head, but we all decided we much prefer a cruise or Disney much better. More later...

Good luck to everyone racing today, Jodi, sorry you had to bail today, I know you were looking forward to seeing some of the Bots.

:moped:
Drive by - Hey BOTS.

Been busy with work and not getting much running in. Chet and I are registered for the Wine and Dine Half.

Tracy's Dad has been in and out of the Hospital for the last month. He has been diagnosed with a cancerous stomach tumor and cancerous cells in the liver. He started chemo last week, but hasn't responded well. He's not eating or drinking and is very tired and confused. He's being taken back to the hospital today by Tracy's brother. It's scary how fast he is weakening. Tracy is holding up pretty well, but I know it is very hard for her so soon after loosing her Mom.

Best W.I.S.H.es to all the BOTS and their families,

Chester

Sorry to hear about Tracy's father. :grouphug:

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!

First, Jodi drove 1 hour (uphill in a snow storm - both ways) to see us in Fairfield and braved the heat and humidity. PLUS she gifted Charlie and I with some wicked brew, it was delicious! It was such a nice surprise to see Jodi after I finished the Stratton Faxon Half Marathon today. THANK YOU JODI!!! You looked great!!! Brewing beer is certainly kind to you.

It was great to see Judy & Charlie and enjoy their great company and go to dinner at Tequila Mockingbird in New Canaan, CT.

Here is the info from my Half Marathon today:

Miles: 13.18
Garmin Time: 2:11:49
Pace: 10:00
Splits: 9:18, 8:52, 9:24, 9:22, 11:01, 9:46, 11:14, 9:00, 9:54, 10:57, 10:37, 10:40, and 10:14.

I think Charlie finished about 2-2:30 ahead of me. We ran together through about mile 10. I was starting to slow down and I told him to take it in. It was really hot, steamy and there wasn't much shade. Luckily it was a bit overcast though which helped us stay out of the direct sun. There were a lot of hills... PERIOD. Not gargantuan, but cumulatively they took their toll.

Dave~ Thanks for the birthday WISHes. I hope everything works out well for your Father. I know it's tough to go through this.

Colleen~ Welcome home from Vacation!

Mike~ Thank you for the well wishes for the race.

Looking at my race log, I've only ran 4 times since the Delaware Marathon on May 16 (5, 5, 6 and 5 miles). Not exactly what you call training for a Half Marathon. I am feeling pretty lucky to have ran this well today given the conditions.

BQCindy~ It was so great to see you and the family at the race today! I felt very lucky and pampered to have my name on a sign for the very first time and your beautiful girls cheering us on. Thank you so much!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

:grouphug:

Howard
