Happy Father's Day to all of the Bot-Dads out there :goodvibes

Lou: I'd love to do the Hershey race and can honestly say this is the only time I'm a bit bummed to have a prebooked Disney trip. We will be doing the Wine and Dine Half so can't be in PA. I did my training at the med center in Hershey so feel a special connection to the place not to mention my love of all things chocolate.

Still wishing I could go to Fairfield this coming weekend to hang with the small group going but it is probably for the best. I had to have a tooth pulled on Friday due to "internal resorption." The dentist deemed a root canal futile and said that the tooth should come out or risk it cracking at a really inconvenient time. After much procrastination (because the tooth did not bother me at all) I finally decided to have it pulled cause it would suck if it broke on vacation or when we were in CA this summer and he showed me the x-ray with only a few tenths of a millimeter thickness on some parts of said tooth. :confused3

The extraction did not go well because it turns out that in addition to the tooth's other issues the root had adhered itself to my jawbone and was not willing to budge. The top half of the tooth came out after 45min of trying to remove it without breaking the thing. The root took another hour of mostly drilling and sacrificing some of the jaw in the process. I was kind of wishing I was not awake for the whole thing but there was nothing I could do about it at that point. I am now the proud owner of some bone graft and a big hole in my mouth. I'm allowed only squishy, bland foods for another few days and no exercise because it would raise my HR and BP and risk bleeding. I'm really sick of yogurt at this point and would love to get some exercise in because I feel like a slug but otherwise am in less actual pain than I feared. Just looking forward to our next Disney trip in July.

Thanks for letting me vent...

Jen - That stinks but I am sure Wine & Dine will be nice. Hershey is very nice and it should look even better with all the fall foliage that time of year. Also sorry to hear about the dental experience. I went through something similar last year so I can relate. Besides the extraction I just had a dental implant installed. That's a fun experience.:scared1:

BOTs - I also saw that the Hershey Lodge is offering rates of $89/night to runners for this event. Not bad...$50 fee, free park admission for family and $89/night hotel. I'm in.

If we were in town we would definitely do the Hershey race, I'm sure you'll enjoy it Lou. Thanks for the sympathy on the tooth too. The implant is phase 2 if my bone heals/grows enough to support it.

Have a great week everyone!!

:headache: Stop that, Lou! I'm not supposed to be spending any money right now. No matter how great the deal is...and how tempting this race sounds...

;)

Lou - This race sounds pretty freakin' cool! Hmmm.....haven't been to Hershey Town in....I can't even remember how long ago it was. WAIT, I DO! It was right after Spencer was born. Terrible trip...looooong story. Over a beer one day, people....
Wow, talk about getting off the topic :rotfl:. RU signing up for this one for sure, Lou?

Jen - OW with the tooth thing...holy crap. I remember when Lou had his probs last year. Tooth stuff sucks. How's the running going anyway?

Just do it, Judy.

Wait, Lou. It's a HALF marathon? Oh, I'm almost definitely in, then!! And the entire family gets in the park for free? I gotta go check the website out, 'cause this sounds too good to be true!:dance3: I can't afford to go to Wine & Dine anyway.

Hurt my foot Sat. running. Painful on the medial side & when I flex my toes back. Thinking it's a tendon. Going to needle-man tomorrow, but not sure he can do anything. Timing sucks 'cause I'm supposed to run the Fairfield 1/2 on Sunday!! :sad1:

Darn! If I wasn't doing to W&D half I would be there too!

Jodi - I booked Hershey this morning. I also booked a room in the Hershey Lodge to make sure I locked in the room and rate. My whole family is going along with my sister and BiL who is also running the half.

Yes, it's a half and yes the park is open for free to runners from 6-9. It says "half park" so I would imagine that only some rides are open but it's free so who cares. They do that for Christmas too. Don't forget the chocolate aid stations. Oh yeah...bring your chocolate stout beer. At night we can go out and do some cow tipping!

Jen - I have spent so much time at UPenn Dental that I think they named a chair after me. Some of the best dental minds in the world drilled holes in my jaw.

Judy - Hershey is practically free when compared to Wine & Dine. For $140 you get to run, ride and rides, eat chocolate, and go home with a medal and t-shirt.

By the way, I did run 12 miles yesterday in God-forsaken heat/humidity. I haven't ventured past 13 miles in a while but think I will try to get in some really long runs in July for no good reason.

I thought these new shoes were supposed to keep you injury free. What's up with that?

RIGHT? Guess you can't take the loser outta me just by changing shoes.

Went to book a room @ Hershey Lodge & the room for 4 is already sold out! Booked a room for 2 for now, hopefully something will open up down the road.

Ola! Que tal?

Jen~ Sorry to hear about the tooth ordeal. I hope it improves fast and that if you so desire, an implant can take place.

Lou~ Getting in a LR recently is admirable. It's been steamy around here for the most part. I'll consider Hershey if we don't do WIne & Dine. At this point we are not registered for it, or even talking about it. More than likely, Cam would be missing it anyway.

Judy~ Charlie invited me up to run the Ridgefield Half again this year! If he and I run it, that is the same weekend as the Hershey race (Sunday, October 3). If I do run it, chances are I'd be coming up on my own.

Jodi~ I hope the witch doctor can fix your sore foot. Keep us posted. If not, you can volunteer. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::thumbsup2

So where is Mike (aka Skippy), Chester, Matt, Cindy, and Colleen? These BOTs need to check in ASAP!

I got out for a steamy run tonight:

Miles: 5.0
Time: 46:48
Pace: 9:22
Splits: 9:25, 9:23, 8:54, 9:41 and 9:25.

I'll probably get one other in before the Fairfield Half this weekend.

Have a great Tuesday!!!!

Howard

Dang. Guess I should have checked the calendar before I said anything. :headache: Well, I don't need all that chocolate anyway.

Howard: Nice run in the heat and humidity. Have a great time this weekend.

Jodi: Thinking of you today. I hope your foot feels better. FYI There are lots of nice hotels in the Hershey area if the Lodge does not have what you need. I lived there for 3 years so know a few places if you are interested.

Dave: Totally loving listening to you on the podcast, sounds like you had a lot of fun. Also glad to hear things with your dad seem to be settling. Hope you are doing well.

AFM: I managed my first exercise session post tooth last night. Running was a bit too jarring for my jaw but I did an hour on the elliptical with no problems and feel better today than I have for a while. Might try a run later today.

Hey Peeples-

Kudos to all of you out there getting runs done in this humidity & heat! :scared1:

Jen - Glad your tooth isn't stopping you from getting stuff done. :thumbsup2

Not much up here. Sunday's not looking too good. :sad2: I'm SO bummed. The witch doctor helped, but not as much as I had hoped. The needles hurt pretty good, but there's something going on with the big toe joint that he can't help with.

Still holding out some hope this'll ease up. Something tells me that I could probably run if I used sneakers because there's less flexing of the foot. We'll see what happens. In the meantime I'll just soak it. :confused3

BTW, did I mention that we drank some of the stout over the past few days & it's pretty dang good!! Obviously prejudice, but....& no signs of pending bowel explosion either. BONUS!! :thumbsup2

Jodi~ I hope it gets better fast and you can grace the roads of Fairfield with your speed and style (not to mention that smile you run with all the time). :rolleyes1 Please consider coming over to the darkside (running shoed athletes) if you have to. It's still cool to do so in many circles.

Chester~ Happy Anniversary to you and Tracy!!! :cool1::banana::yay::dance3::woohoo::goodvibes

Hi to everyone!!!!

:grouphug:

Howard

It's been a long time since I posted - Hi BOTS!

I have both D.C. and Disney as saved weather locations on my iPhone. For at least a week now, it's been hotter here than it has been in Disney - what's up with that? Currently 95 degrees here, only 91 in Disney!

Well, what do you know. Cindy is alive and well!

Howard - Happy birthday!

Chester and Tracy - Happy Anniversary!

Jen - I hope the tooth is healing well.

Jodi - Stinks about the foot. At least you have your stout to comfort you. I'm sure you'll make the right decision about your race this weekend.

Maybe I need to go back to last summer's posts but I don't remember the heat/humidity bothering me this much in the past. I seriously haven't been able to run more than 3 or 4 good miles before the wheels fall off and I run/walk/shuffle the rest of the way. Yuck!
