bag for the parks

I so ditto a small back pack. My parents love the hip packs that they have. It is similar to a fanny pack except with a little more room and two places for water bottles on the side. So if you like fanny packs but want a place for water bottles that is the way to go. At Disney, I can only think of a couple of rides where I could not bring my backpack including the Rock and Roller Coaster and Soarin.

Just got back from WDW & both my sister & I carried the Overland Donner bag. I found this bag to be very accommodating during our travel. It has a nice zipper area, for the main compartment to carry a camera (I even carried my video camera inside during airport travel). The front flap opens to easy accessible compartments, small change pocket with zipper, pockets for credit cards, cash, etc, a nice size pocket for cell phone, a hook that secures any keys. The exterior has a pocket on the back side for carrying maps & paperwork & on each side has a pocket for carrying a bottle of water. I carried the bag across my chest most of the trip & didn't have any trouble with having it while being on rides. I am very satisfied with my choice. :thumbsup2

Another vote for a small backpack. But for us it needs to be something that DH will carry and some of the small backpacks seem to be targetted towards teen girls and are pink or lavender! We've bought the toddler sized backpack from Children's Place for the last 2 years and that's what we use. We want to keep it small, because we seem to fill it up and it would just get too heavy if it was larger!

You can no longer bring a backpack on Soarin'? Last year we were able to just tuck it into the compartment under our seats. What do you do with them on that ride now? just curious!

hmmm I might be wrong about Soarin. Maybe we did just tuck it under the seats. I know I couldn't take it on The Rock n Roller Coaster because my dad held it then. So yeah only one ride that doesn't allow it that I can think of off the top of my head.

I use an Eagle Creek shoulder bag that's now discontinued. The Instant Messenger bag is pretty similar though. I used to carry a backpack, but the urge to over-pack (even for a day!) is too great. My little shoulder bag has room for small versions of everything I need, has a big compartment for my wallet and camera, and fits in the underseat storage on Soarin' very well.

I used the Baggallini Messenger bag on our recent trip. It is a sling bag which is like a backpack but there is just one strap that you wear across your body. I liked it -- it had plenty of compartments, a place for a small water bottle, a cell phone pouch in the strap, and it was the right size for putting it into the pouches on the rides. Anything larger would have been too big for that. Also being a sling pack it was easy to just slide around to the front on rides where I didn't need to stow it but didn't want it on my back so I could sit back agains the seat (easier to slide around than a backpack with two straps would be).

Another vote for the Ameribag Healthy Back Bag. I have a small which is a perfect size. You can look at them on LLbean.com. There is a microfiber one on sale under the New to Sale Section>Luggage. It was $19.95. I got mine and I love it!

The LLBean small is actually the Ameribag Extra Small but made by Ameribag nontheless. Great bag!
