Bad Trip

Yes, Dec 2013. On way there, we live 2 hours away.......car starts acting up. Made it to BLT for 2 night stay....Disney towed car for free to car center. .

Next day was sat...they didn't,t know what was wrong, but replaced something and DH went to pick up car around 4 as they said it was fixed (we planned on going to Seaworld at 9 am as we only had Seaworld tickets) but he gets there the cars not fixed....have no idea what's wrong they close at 5......and they are not opening Sundays... We are only there to Sunday.

I had to hustle to rent a car before the rate went up but budget is only open til 5...it 4:15 and no way to get there...used another rental company at car care center. Cost more but hey we got a caddie......try to salvage our Seaworld day....takes us 1 hour to get off Disney property.. Now it 7pm and we are hungry....we eat..and then it's starts raining....forget Seaworld just go back to hotel.

Leave the next day, had to leave the car? No idea how much it will cost or what is wrong.....totally missed weekend.

DH had to go back to a dealership in Orlando the next week to pickup the car....had to spend $40 for taxi from car rental to dealership.

Car cost 1154 to fix car rental $251....for what was suppose to be a free weekend since we had annual passes for Seaworld and own DVC.

But the car care center was great! As well as Tropical ford in Orlando.

The trip where I spent most of the time in the restroom, including being stuck in there an hour before we had to go to the airport

We did have a great time otherwise though.

And all the scooter trouble we had last time too. It broke in the middle of Epcot, Mum couldn't get hold of the people to ask them to bring a new one, they faffed her around the next morning and caused a bit of stress.

Good Lord, you guys are scaring me! So far we have been lucky, but we are going in December, and I am starting to wonder if we are due for a bad trip! I just start praying months in advance that everyone stays healthy.

Yup. Been there. December trip a few years ago.
1. It was cold - really cold. Like *buy blankets and hats for the kids in a gift shop* cold.

2. DS got sick after 3 days in. Really sick. Emergency room trip, 4 days in the room, postpone our flight, pay the extra for a few more days in the room, finally get him well enough to fly home.
Definitely couldn't wait for our *do-over* trip.

We were there during the cold snap! My gosh, the wind was so bitter it felt like it could cut right through you. The winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarfs weren't enough! It was warmer at home! We marveled over that! It was a whole different experience than when it is warmer. We've been in Dec. another time and it was mild. You just never know when you plan in advance. Luckily we were prepared, but it still kind of stunk.

Last November, DH and I went for a romantic, adults only anniversary trip. I wouldn't say it was terrible, but it definitely wasn't as fun as usual. What went wrong:

This was our romantic getaway- so my body decides that isn't going to happen. My "Aunt Flo" came a week early, the first morning we were at WDW. No more romance for the remainder of the trip...:(

We had free CS dining, so we only made one ADR for a nice sit down dinner on the last evening of the trip. It rained cats and dogs that evening, we got stuck for more than an hour in the Soaring' queue (we had a FP+, but the ride went down), and my "monthly gift" made me feel cranky and achy. We ended up bailing on our romantic dinner and eating at the Pop Century food court.

I didn't get to ride many of my favorites because DH either didn't like them or I felt achy and out of sorts.

DH in general just isn't a Disney loving person. I thought he might loosen up and have a great time, since it was just the 2 of us, but he really didn't. He didn't complain or act like a jerk, but I could tell he was just tolerating everything for my sake. Every time I asked what he'd like to do next, or which rides he'd like to do, he just said, "Whatever makes YOU happy- I just want to spend time with you". Nice sentiment, but after a few days, I started to feel like I had forced him to go and he was only there because I wanted it. It probably was made worse by the fact that I was a bit emotional and cranky due to the previously mentioned monthly affliction.

Overall, we had a good time, but I didn't come home wishing we had had more time there. A do-over would be great, but I would want to go with my Disney loving DD along (or make it a girls trip ;)) so I wouldn't feel alone in my WDW obsession.

We had a wonderful time in Dec. (when it was warmer) and a good time when it was cold. We just had to make bundle up but we pretty much did everything we normally would do.

You'll have a good time!

Please don't take it too seriously. Anything I can report as "bad" is such a tiny, tiny fraction when compared to all the "pretty good" the "great" and the "amazing!"

Maybe you should ban yourself from this thread and find some magical ones! :-)

We went to WDW early last December. Flight was good, as was DME. When we arrived at Kidani we found that our request for a room near the lobby was not honored (I can deal with that since I understand no request is guaranteed). So we were placed in the last "bead" at Kidani for one night with plans to move the next day.

That first night DW gets ill and throws up a few times. Not sure if it was a stomach bug or something she eat at Raglan Road that evening. The next morning I called the front desk to confirm our room move and to see if DW could stay in the room past checkout to wait for the new room and recover. I was assured she could, so DS and I went to Epcot to let DW rest.

A couple of hours later (approx. 11:00 or so) I get a call from DW saying they wanted her to come down to the lobby to handle the room change. Once there they told her she needed to vacate the room and wanted to know what her plans were until the new one was ready. And this despite the fact that we already had been told she could stay a past checkout until the new room was ready! Still a little nauseous, dead tired and all by herself, she broke down in tears.

The short ending to this story is that she was finally allowed to stay in the room until the new one was ready. DS and I left Epcot to be with her. A little later the new room was ready and we moved.

It was a really crappy starting 24 hours of a 7 night stay. Most of the rest of the trip was good, but not magical; not at all what I was expecting from a Disney trip. That first day set a bad tone that I just could not overcome. Do-over? Maybe, but it will be a while before we consider a Disney trip again.
