Bad show disney!!!

So why didn't we divert her attention to Peter Pan instead of subjecting all the poor people around you to her 20 minute hissy fit??

UM....another non-reader of the previous posts? :confused3:confused3...Because the 20 minute sobbing and crying incident happened in our living room?

She was making plans for all the times she was going to see Minnie and Mickey's houses and what she was going to do there on our next trip, and rather than lie to her and in order to start preparing her, we tried to gently tell her that she probably would not be able to do all of that because they were going to be closing the houses to the public, not realizing what an incredibly strong reaction she was going to have to the loss of Minnie's house.

My point when everyone was flaming the OP for having the opinion that the demolition/construction shields should have been better, was that there are small kids like DD who would have been devastated if they had been riding the train and it made a stop there on the day or days that they were actually ripping the houses down and the child had seen that actually taking place.

Yeah, but now they are going to be at Mickey and Minnie's condo right at the front of the park. Tell her Mickey got tired of mowing the lawn.

WOW!

I am just speechless. What happens when something really traumatic happens like you just ran out of her favorite cereal?

I also re-read your original post. My apologies, but you didn't specify where you were.

Apology accepted. You think you are speechless, you should have seen us when it happened. :scared1::scared1: That kind of reaction didn't even happen when the beloved Cinderella barbie lost her head.

Took this video today... Petes Garage (I believe by the roof color and location being destroyed)

Since I guess you expect everyone to follow your posts and logic, did you see my post when I asked you why didn't you prepare for this conversation in advance? You knew your DD is attached to the place so why not to get ready with a better story, one that will not get you in trouble later?:confused3
As for parents of little kids who may have same as your kid reaction, distraction is good thing and I guess it works on your kid as well or just do not go on a ride, problem solved.

why why why why why did you post this? NOW the magic is simply ruined for me......Why couldn't disney have done the "disney-way" and made that green wall 30 ft. higher. I'm just heart-broken here....

Could have been worse...you could have been devastated.

I wasn't upset about the post in any real sense other than the shear "drama" of it. Devastated, really, a four year old? Saddened, OK, I can see that. Upset, alright that one as well, but devastated. It seems like over reaction is all about. It's more that the OP thinks that everyone has that depth of emotion about Mickey/Minnie's make believe house. With a little positive direction from a parent...the trauma will indeed wear off quickly and energy will focus on something better.

Better start now. Read up on what is going in place of it and "make her excited" about what will be new there. With a child's limited sense of direction, I doubt she will resort to sobbing every time she looks over in that direction. Out of sight...out of mind.

Why did you watch it? It was clear that it was a video of something being destroyed.

I can see the OP's point somewhat because she wasn't expecting to see this while on the train ride. That is different IMO.

I have to admit they could have done a better job at covering up what they are doing. You can see it from the people mover, train, teacups and numerous other locations.

I'm not talking about a 30 - 40ft wall either. Actually just a little more mystery about what is going on back there would have been nice. Obviously its near impossible to hide everything they are doing without building the great wall around it however they could have at least tried to hide it a bit better.

I think the walls should have been higher.
My kids are sad no more toontown. we have talked about all the new things. but i would think it would be emotional to be in the park and hear the noises of things being torn down and destroyed.
i guess it would be great if they were able to do the actual destruction of it all after park hours. not the building just the demolishing of the place.
I guess esp toontown since it had a magical place for kids esp being that is where most would meet mickey. My dd met Mickey her first time at 6 month there, and each child has also. I have some great pictures from last years trip, before i knew what would become of it all. But one of my fav is my youngest trying to open the Mickeys mailbox and wondering why it will not open.

Really? People are upset over this? Should Disney just keep everything the same and outdated forever? Would that make everyone happy? No I'm sorry then people will complain that Disney is boring and the same and they should update it. Mickey didn't really live there. Calm down.

I do not feel things need to be never changed. but seeing this is where most kids or for that fact anyone meets Mickey! maybe they could have done the demolishing after park hours! I think my kids would be sad to see and hear Mickeys house torn down had we been there. Now I would never go over with them and try to see! LOL

As a lover of finely themed bathrooms, this just tore me to pieces. :sad2: Less places top pee now in the kingdom and that truely is a bad, bad show for the bladder-challenged.

They bette rplace signs at the Tomorrowland Speedway too. You might just see a piece of heavy equipment over that way.........:rolleyes1

Dear lord, how did you NOT catch the "huge" amount of sarcasm in my post.

I don't know about you but I don't think I would be comfortable doing demolition work in the dark. If I'm tearing things down I want to be able to see as well as absolutely possible so I don't make a stupid mistake.

If I have to choose between a child being emotionally scarred and a worker being physically scarred, the child is going to have to deal.

I saw it, but I live in a rose colored world. :rotfl:

I have a confession to make here, as devastated as I am, I have to admit that after going to WDW pretty much yearly since 1983, I have never once set foot in Toontown. I know, I should be beaten, but instead I am devastated. I mean I never got to see it and now they are tearing it down. What if, it was just the bestest thing ever and now due to the thoughtlessness of Disney, I will never get the chance to do so. Oh, The Huge Manatee of it all. (great picture, btw).:sad2:
