I wanted to see if there were any videos tracking the Toontown project, and found this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cLAQnlKehQ
What sense does it make to run the train through there, and make the guests sit at the station while the train takes on water?
in the interest of preserving the "show" of Disney, why not make the train "start" at main street and then disembark all of the passengers before the Toontown station? This is just really, really really bad show!
There really IS no Disney Difference anymore, is there?

They should have at least put up a facade instead of that ugliness. Characters or something.

Geeeeeze, take it easy! It was'nt that bad.

I kind of agree..so it stopped breifly.
By the looks of it I'm not even sure it stopped in the station for water.
That view sure didn't look like in station. So it might have stopped for another reason.
But even if it did, if it needs to stop for water then it needs to stop for water. So what. Would you rather it run out and stop halfway between Tomorrowland and Main St?
(and yes simular has happened to us at non disney parks)

This is one of those that if they put up a painted wall instead, people would complain about that being boring. Or that then they could still hear the construction. Basically it'll always be something.

It sounds like there will be posters put up. I guess the water was topped off when it would stop (when Toontown was there) and let people out. Now people can't get out -- train still has to run. The train does a loop. Not sure people would want to be forced off the train when they wanted to rest their feet and get around to the other side of the park.

Toontown was not meant to be permanent, not that I didn't visit it a time or two. It will be fun to see a new Fantasy Land ... and a few more eating options.

Hang on OP  --- it will get better soon. I actually enjoyed that you posted this.

I don't really think it's that big of a deal, everyone knows about the expansion, these things have to happen in order to expand. He even took the time to explain what was happeneing. They cant change the train tracks, Its a way to get around the park, forcing ppl to get off of a circular track would be upsetting if you were using it to get off your feet and rest while moving to another area of the park :confused3. I think to be overly upset about being able to see a tiny little bit through a curtain is a little bit ridiculous. Just my opinion.

Wow even for WDW that's kind of awful, you would think they could have at least made the cover more opaque if they didn't want to pay for walls to cover it so kids wouldn't see Mickeys house be demolished in front of them...

The Toon town station is the regular water stop for the MK trains. As is the frontierland Station in DL. You can see in the video it is edited, so it appears to be more than a brief stop. Probably the ten minutes or so that a normal stop takes, to unload and reload passengers.
There is no need for the train to run through a construction zone, especially with that long of a stop, when that leg of the journey could easily be suspended for the time being (at least until they get the mural up, as th train conductor had to apologize for)

There are only 3 stations - Main Street, Frontierland, Toontown. They would have to make everyone get off at Frontierland and run empty to Main Street.

Yeah, that was pretty bad. I still can't believe they're expanding Fantasyland. I mean, I have no problem with that, but what the plan to do with the expansion is just disgraceful! I'm sure Walt would be doing flips in grave if he knew what was happeneing.

It's not all that bad.
Disney fans hunger for this type of stuff, they LOVE to see behind the curtains, if it weren't so, they video would not have nearly the 686 views it currently has. I admit, I was squinting to see through the barriers.
If I were opposed to seeing what's going on, I guess I would just not ride the WDWRR until the construction is done.
As they say, you can't please everyone.

So since they are putting in the under the sea ride will we get back the submarines again? I know it will not be 20k leagues but the idea was cool...

I am sorry it does not upset me to see this area torn down. Walt always felt Disney World needed to be in a state of constant flux and it has to, to keep people coming back. Now we have to compete with Harry Potter so Disney really needs to pull a genie out of its hat and do something new and big.

It didn't look that bad to me. It would be nice if they could put something up over the walls to have something nicer to look at but I still didn't think it was bad. You can't just take a detour with a train like you can in a car to avoid something you don't want' to see.

Toontown wasn't part of Walt's original design, so I don't think he would be doing flips in his grave. I'm sure he believed in progress, freshening the product. It's not like they are tearing down the Castle or Main Street. Toontown was probably the least visited part of the park.

I personally would love to see the construction being done. The video said they would be putting up posters, and most people know that construction is going on. I didn't think it was that bad.

Sorry no subs, just a dark ride simulating under sea adventures. I'm afraid the subs have sunk forever.

As for the indignation about the train ride...I'm afraid that I don't understand the logic behind that upset. The train goes around in a circle. If someone wants to go completely around (which is most people, btw) showing parts of the construction is perfectly acceptable and, I would suspect, quite welcomed by the guests.

Would you suggest that they only go as far as Frontierland and then back up to the station again. Really, I believe that there would be a lot more upset about being forcibly unloaded then riding around and seeing a little construction. Walt would not be spinning in his grave about that. Almost every redo has had a certain amount of exposure to the public. It is certainly not a big deal. That is only a small part of the ride and without it the rest doesn't get seen...that would be a bad show. This isn't!

They could have put up thicker walls but we like the train and enjoy riding it all the way around the park. I would rather see some construction going on than have to get off in Frontierland.

Everyone is quick to shout bad show. Construction is not bad show. Construction workers smoking cigarettes and shirtless is bad show. Having a train stop to take on water next to a scrim is not bad show. To simply go through the station causes the timing of the other trains to be off meaning they can only run 2 trains. Not an option when busy. Shuttle mode between MSUSA and Frontierland means one train. Even worse option.

It never fails to amaze me what will get peoples panties in a knot around here. It's construction, god forbid little Mikey or Janey see's a big machine and truck working behind a fence. Most kids are mesmerized by the sight of machines.

Maybe the guy operating the machine and all the rest of the guys and gals working there should dress as their favorite character just in case the kids happen to see something through the fence. They could keep up the 'Good Show' and help those parents that bubble wrap their kids with a non traumatizing explanation as to why Mickey's house is being leveled in front of their sensitive eyes and fragile minds.......
