Bad show disney!!!

OK, I thought it was kinda cool.

Does OP know who much money people spend to get behind the scenes tours of WDW? This one's free!

Of course, I never liked Toon Town, so I'm pretty happy to see it go.

I'm sorry, if my child was carrying on for 20 minutes about something that ridiculous....we'd be heading back to the resort where he/she could sit on the bed for the rest of the day.

Personally, I just can't believe what people get so bent out of shape about. If some construction at Disney is the biggest problem in life, you've got it pretty darn good.:rolleyes1

I would actually not mind the stop. I would also like to be able to see more of what's going on.

I'm with you!! My husband is in construction and LOVES when we are away and he can "take a peak" at whats going on. We have tons of pictures from when Bay Lake Tower was being built. I think that was the highlight of his tirp LOL.

I didn't read the whole thread, but as the parent of a 3.5 y/o boy, he'd like it better if they took down the green tarps and let him watch all the construction while we sat there. A train to a construction site? It could only be improved with a couple dinosaurs.:lmao:

no kidding - my ds is 11 and would love to see what is going on and would then lobby to fly a helicopter over the site.

Come on people! There is construction going on everywhere and kids see it all the time. They are interested in the tearing down and building back of things, don't believe it give them a set of blocks and see what they do!!! It is the adults that have a problem with change!

Disney is always changing and that is the way that Walt Disney wanted things to go and for my family, that is why we go to WDW so often.

I thought the video was kind of cool! it was fun to see the "behind the scenes" changes that are going on. I think short of "everyone, por favor, please put your blindfolds on so you don't see anything icky at Disney" there's no real way to block what's going on. ;)

I'm glad that my DD5 got to experience ToonTown, but I can tell you this, she's WAY more excited for what's coming in it's place. I definately don't think it's something to get upset over.....if you let yourself get this upset over something so minor, there's never going to be a "right time" to go to Disney. We went and had the crane over Cinderella's castle all week and tarps over most of main street! It didn't ruin one thing for me ! ( it was kind of exciting peeking out our balcony every night watching them put the Christmas lights on the castle.) sometimes the unknown can be fun and exciting to see unfold!!

My goodness.

I guess my children were deprived of The Magic. In all ways, not just the Disney way.. we never really did the Santa thing, or the Easter Bunny thing. I tend to fall really really heavily on the side of realism though, pretend stories are fine for fun, but not to be actually BELIEVED in. Cartoon characters were just cartoon characters; they knew that, no matter how much fun it was to pose with the characters at Disney and goof around with Pluto or Tigger, deep down it was really just a silly guy inside a costume.

They also knew, from a very young age, that a ride was just a ride, and an attraction was just an attraction. Ghosts in the Haunted Mansion were just pretend. Pirates in POTC were just robots. And - really and honestly - we had a discussion about it - we talked about the Toontown sets and how they were designed to look like what Mickey and Minnie's houses MIGHT HAVE LOOKED LIKE if you could go into the cartoons. We walked though them once when it was a slow time (a really long time ago) and admired the cartoon-y rounded corners and looked for all the silly hidden things in each of them. In no way shape or form did my kids entertain the fantasy that Mickey and Minnie lived there - how could they when they were perfectly aware that inside of the Mickey and Minnie costumes were hot and sweaty college kids?

And yet, none of that ever diminished their enjoyment of WDW, or the magic of it in any way.

And, as a side benefit, when we go to WDW and a ride is closed or being refurbished, I don't have to take my 7 year old to counselling as she tries to grasp what Piglet will do for housing now that someone has torn his tree down. :rotfl:

How do you know the "guy"(or girl) was silly;)

Because usually at that point he or she was behaving "silly" - like Pluto eating my DD7's head, or Tigger trying to steal and run away with DD16's phone because she was texting at dinner at the Crystal Palace - her father encouraged that one. ;)

mmm hmmm....sounds like stereo typing to me:rotfl:

Do you thing that a CM is going to tell a 5 year old who asks where Minnie's house is that they bulldozed it? (Okay maybe there are one or two CMs who might, but I think most of them are not going to say that and are just going to say that it moved which fits perfectly in with what I told her).

Can you tell her they are removing Toontown because it can never live up to the Toontown in Disneyland?

Then schedule a trip to Disneyland to show her the real Toontown.

Look, Toontown at WDW was terrible when compared to the one in Disneyland, you should be glad they are "tearing it shreds".

Wow I think some people (adults and kids) have reached the too much Disney point. If you get this worked up over something so minor, it's time to stay home.

:worship:

amen to that!

I'm all for the kids having magic in their lives, fantasy adventures, and Disney is perfect for that. But it seems some people want this fairytale so bad for them and their kids that when reality has to step in the effect is sooooooo dramatic!

WDW is a CREATION, somones idea, built and constructed, its not real you know ......

Toontown in Disneyland is awesome! LOVED it.

Call me weird but I actually was trying to see what they do. I would be excited to ride this train during constractions.

I am kind of excited to see what they do too. My son will go nuts if he sees a construction truck through the fence!

We can't stop progress, toontown is gone, like it or not. There is a fantasyland expansion happening, like it or not. If you think the train stopping at the old toontown station is a bad show, don't ride the train.

I'll add to please, please stay home because I don't want those crazy people near me. If a person has problems explaining a very simple issue to their children, I can't even begin to imagine what will happen when real issues crop up in their life. Real issues are people losing homes in Hurricane Katrina not having to explain Fake Mickeys Plastic house is gone.

:thumbsup2

My child who is also extremely gifted (cured cancer by sneezing) was devastated by the “walls.” Being an extremely gifted child (killed a man by jumping) she knew that they were demolishing Mickey’s home due to the lack of decent ROI. I tried to console her but what can I do? I am only the parent? I mean I can’t be expected to actually parent. So I did the best thing I could. I copied down all the CMs working both on the train and construction. I then wrote a huge complaint to guest services and had them all removed (I also burnt their homes to the ground). At the end of the day my child is just too gifted to exist in WDW.
