Bad show disney!!!

My DDs are 4 and 7. The older one, in particular, is pretty sensitive and I can see her crying at the fact that the houses in ToonTown are gone. But 1) she'd be equally interested in the construction and what was replacing them, and 2) I'd tell her that being sad is ok but carrying on about it is unacceptable and she has a choice between getting over it and staying in the parks, or being hysterical back in the room.

Kids have to get used to the fact that many things they enjoy won't always be there. Favorite toys break or get lost. Clothes get outgrown. Friends change. And Mickey and Minnie are as entitled as anyone to move. Teaching my girls these things is my job; it's not up to Disney to do anything to back up tall tales I may have come up with in a panic to avoid dealing with the truth.

I bought my son a shirt that said "I'm the reason Daddy drinks."

Gosh i remember when they had the Skyway & we kept riding it when they changed it before very cool to watch. It has been quite a few different lands.

I agree that this is "much ado about nothing". I have grandchildren and have raised four of my own and to have a child cry for 20 minutes over something such as this is just sad.

To say there is no Disney Difference must mean that you haven't been to any other parks recently. One of things that makes Disney so endearing is the fact that they go above and beyond anything we can imagine. They didn't have to go to Napal just to re-create it at AK, but they did.

The fact that a construction site looks like a construction site shouldn't upset anyone. Children are, for the most part, pretty resilient, even the precocious ones, and would in all likelihood adapt a more excited attitude about the changes given time and encouragement by the parents.

I for one am so excited to see what the new FL will be. I don't mean to be unkind, but let's just take a deep breath and put this in perspective, shall we?

Can you tell her they are removing Toontown because it can never live up to the Toontown in Disneyland?

Then schedule a trip to Disneyland to show her the real Toontown.

[/QUReally???? Spend more money on a DL vacation because a 5 year old can't accept the fact that Mickey's house is MIA?? That is beyond crazy.

Is everyone done tearing the woman with the sensitive kid to shreds? or are we going to have another 25 posts of bashing?

get a grip people.

as for the OP - I see what he means to an extent. it seems the board is filled with constuction lovers...but for me...I prefer my amusement park experience to be without tractors and cranes.

of course they need to be there to build more awesomeness, but I like the park better without them.

I mean...do all you "I love the constuction!" people wish they didn't even put up a wall?

1. luckily with the fantasyland construction it is not necessary to see any of it. Very easy to avoid.

2. Yes.

Everyone knows that CMs are often clueless. So I can only assume that the construction workers are clueless. So yes, I would like to be able to build FL. It is the only way I can assure Disney is not cheated and that magic is maxed out.

You missed the point. WDW Toontown stunk, go see the real one out in California (and not because the 5 year old can't accept reality).

I'm not a huge construction lover but even I like to see how Disney puts everything together. I love watching the "how Disney did it" type shows on cable (the build process for the Tree of Life and Expedition Everest are fascinating) and would get a kick out of seeing it all first hand.

ummm...over the edge?

I said I like amusement parks better without tractors and cranes.

do you like MK better with the construction going on?

No one said you have to like or enjoy construction but to expect Disney to keep up the white lie you (general you) told your child in a panic is just beyond ridiculous, no matter how much of a genius your child is.

There is no magical bubble that is going to hide the construction and like I said earlier, Disney can't win in a situation like this. They put up walls..people complain, they take the walls down..people complain. Since they are going to get complaints no matter what, they should do it whichever way works best for them. This way works best for them in this instance.

ITA!!! :thumbsup2

I wanted to see if there were any videos tracking the Toontown project, and found this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cLAQnlKehQ
What sense does it make to run the train through there, and make the guests sit at the station while the train takes on water?
in the interest of preserving the "show" of Disney, why not make the train "start" at main street and then disembark all of the passengers before the Toontown station? This is just really, really really bad show!
There really IS no Disney Difference anymore, is there?

Oh I would be so disappointed if they didn't do the continuous loop around the park. When DD was 3 1/2 we rode that train around about 3 times while she napped and we enjoyed a needed seat.

I am sad about Minnie's house. that has been DD's favorite spot when we've gone.

If constuction projects were happening all over the park at the same time, I would be annoyed. Of course I wouldn't see it because I would not visit until it was complete.

i agree, it wasn't horrific. after all, how does one think they create the magic? :wizard:with pixie dust?pixiedust:
WHAAATTT??? There's no pixie dust? pixiedust:
I don't believe it:tink: NOPE. I KNOW there's Pixie dust. Has to be. Tink even flies overhead at night. ;):lmao:;)
