I just wanted to say that I think on a board where so many complain about the way teenagers act, it is sad that this teen is trying to do something that she sees as helping others and people are being rude and she has been nothing but polite. Agree with her or disagree, but at least treat her as respectfully as she is treating you.

AngienLuLu, I couldn't help but notice that you're a newbie, you've posted 50 times, you don't contribute financially to the support of TheDis, and yet you want to tell Pete how to run his board?

If you don't like that particular smilie, don't use it. Most of the smilies have come about because Disers have requested them. I'd like to see a smilie, holding a sign, reading "Get a Life".

IF she contributed then she would be able to voice her opinion about this on the board? Does each and every Moderator contribute financially to the DIS, Is that why they are Moderators? How do you know that she didn't change her name and has 100,000 post on another name? Does being a sponsor make a person more special to the DIS, give them more freedom?

I didn't like the smoking smiley when I saw it either, I didn't think it was needed. But hey that's my opinion.

Oh and IN MY OPINION Johnny Depp always looks like a grease ball!

And while I don't agree with the OP, I, too think she has handled herself quite well and she seems respectful of everyone elses opinion.

i think i am looking at the bigger picture and i am looking at this in a more political way-- to me its not a smiley-- it is someone telling me what i can watch or listen to- etc. that is why i am so upset--

I personally have no objection to the smokin' smiley. I am not a smoker, don't really like the habit and am alergic to the smell. However it's just a smiley and when I see it I always assume that the poster is trying to say that something is smokin' as in hot (or cool) depending on the decade you grew up in. I don't think any smiley is politically incorrect, at least not the ones on the DIS. They are just smiley faces on a PC screen.

I will say the clown smiley is gross and I don't much like the dancing fool. However if I could eliminate one smiley it would be this one It is wildly overused and just vomit inducing.
