Bad Day At The Poly

I have been. In fact I wasn't given the difference back between the room I had paid for and the room they downgraded me to until I returned home and sent off an e-mail. Well the second time it happened, that is. I have been downgraded twice.

I'm sorry that happened to you. But there is simply no circumstance under which I'd put up with that and ever return to WDW again. They will give me what I paid for or they'll refund my money.

And under the circumstances that this is a vacation that has considerable costs other than just my room, I wouldn't accept a downgrade - they'd have to have some serious ground shifting reason why I couldn't have what I requested or better. Upgrade due to their mistake, sure. Downgrade? No.

I'm seriously speechless that this would ever be an issue. It seems common sense to me that you don't pay for something you don't get.

No, you stated that the only thing they have to provide is a room worth less than the value charged. I have never experienced such a thing nor would I accept not being compensated. I would like to know your source other than anecdotal reports from other guests. We all know CMs stories and WDW policies vary depending on who you talk to.

Not necessarily. The only thing they have to provide you is a room. Several DISers - and if it's happened in this relatively small pool, it occurs more frequently in the general public - have been downgraded without their agreement or approval. Credit isn't necessarily offered; one poster indicated the CM seemed surprised that it was expected

Never said it's acceptable or should be.

i worked in an intensive care unit for over 10years , and your pictures looked staged
too me. liked one observed, it seem liked the door handle was the target...instead
of being "all over the place"...& again the "protein spill"...does not resemble typical
types of vomit i ever seen..,made me wonder what the housekeeper reported afterwards..

This thread is turning into something from Spinal Tap

I have to admit, a detailed discussion on what "protein spills" ( which btw, is an ever so much nicer name) do or don't look like is not something I would care to participate in. Blech...

I would've made them move me. Seriously.

You seem to imply that's acceptable when you say, "the only thing they have to provide you is a room." :confused3
Again, providing facts doesn't indicate agreement or approval. Read the fine print on any reservation. The only thing the guest is guaranteed is a room at, in this case, a Disney resort.

Please dont put words in my mouth. I know what I posted, and I posted it because it's factual. Nowhere, ever, did I say or imply "worth less than the value charged". Not my responsibility if readers choose to add their own interpretations.

OP - It's hard to tell from your pictures...what room type did you book? It looks like you had a lovely view of the beach. Maybe even a view of the lagoon? I can understand not wanting to move to the alternate room they offered you, especially if it faced the parking lot. If I had the same choice of a parking lot view versus a lovely beach view with a cherry picker, I probably would have done the same thing you did....stick with the cherry picker view. But, that doesn't mean the cherry picker outside my window would stop frustrating me...even though I had chosen it.

Thanks for sharing your experiences OP!! I really enjoy reading about other's trips...the good, the bad and the pukey. Hope the rest of your vacation was enjoyable! :)

Facts aside. Would you accept a downgrade and not ask for the difference in price? Just curious.

Refusing to put facts aside. Facts are what they are.
Never said I would accept a downgrade without compensation.
