so , we checked into the poly on tuesday and encountered a cherry picker directly outside our balcony (fiji room 3307):

i went down to guest services the next morning, showed a cast member the photo and asked if they could move us. they said they could move us, but it would be across the resort and facing the parking lot, so i chose to remain where we were.

cherry picker work continued on wednesday and thursday, but we were out of our room for the majority of the day, so it didn't affect us much.

so today (friday), we were out for a good part of the day, and things were fine on the few occasions we went back to the room. but when we got back to the room at 6pm we found this:

yep- someone projectile vomited all over our door and floor.

i called housekeeping and asked them to come up and clean it.

then i was put on hold for seven minutes the first time i called the front desk, so i hung up and called again.

the second time i spoke to someone she was a total b*tch about it. her party line was that because i booked through expedia i deserved what i got and there was nothing that disney could do for me.

by the way, this is our view this evening, at 7pm:

i hung up on her and asked my husband to try. he got someone who promised him a discount that was equal to 75% of one of our days at the hotel.

housekeeping has been here for the past fifteen minutes, cleaning the mess up. i felt so bad for the woman they sent that i slipped her some money. it's disgusting.

i'm interested in seeing what happens when we check out tomorrow- i sincerely hope the discount is applied without a hassle.

Ewwww. That is so gross.

Calling the "front desk" doesn't get you to the front desk. It gets you to a central call center. If you want to speak to a real manager you need to go down to the front desk. I have been offered compensation at Disney before but it has never been without first going physically down to the front desk. So, I would be prepared to go down and argue your case in person tomorrow.

thanks, everyone.

i really figured once i was onsite 'front desk' on the phone would connect me to, um, the actual front desk.

i'll stop by in person, once i can pry my child out of the pool.

want to confirm any possible discount prior to checking out tomorrow.

Ask for the Tonga Building, concierge level. Chris and Kim...our friends, checked out yesterday. Should be a room open.

Wow, I cannot believe someone would be so rude as to leave that there and not clean it up. TOTALLY disgusting. I would definitely go to the desk and ask for some sort of compensation. 100% of a nights stay.... not 75%.

Somewhat similar some some issues I ran into at Beach Club just over a week ago with the room. Those got resolved however, in the end after much frustration thanks to one an amazing CM.

We also ran into some issues at Poly too when we were visiting and I will echo the RUDENESS and overall terrible attitudes. Especially with unknowlegeable management. The evening manager at guest services and the one from Trader Sam's. Both were among the worst I have EVER encountered anywhere, not just Disney. It's sad to hear this from you as well.

With so much "NEW" at Polynesian Village right now, this is quite sad to be hearing. This should never be the case, no mater which resort on property or how new or old a resort is. Disney better wakeup and choose their staff a little more careful like they used to. Disney is only hurting & embarrassing themselves.

Our biggest gripe from our recent big trip were unknowledgeable, grumpy and rude uninterested CM's. There are still some amazing ones, there is, but the bad ones really did put a damper on our trip. I was so upset that our last day after visiting Poly I just wanted to leave :(

There is a high chance I will be staying at Poly for a little getaway in November for the first time. If that works out, here is hoping things change and some CMs are swapped out.

I can't help wondering why you were repeatedly calling the front desk instead of housekeeping. They are the ones who take care of those kinds of things.

of course i called housekeeping first, but housekeeping can't give me a discount.

the mess was so nasty that i tipped ten dollars to the woman they sent to handle the clean up, even though i wasn't the one responsible.

anyway, it wound up resolving itself- we got 100% off one night's room, already credited. and since the room was prepaid, that will pay our breakfast bill at kona cafe, our dinner at san angel inn and our drinks and souvenir glasses at trader sams.

again, thanks to everyone here who offered suggestions! dis board rocks.

and i would still happily stay at the poly again. it really is a special place.

This and our previous experience in December makes me scared about our upcoming August trip at the Poly. I booked a magical deal and got a standard view room at the Poly for a good price. But I'm so nervous about staying there because of their customer service.. Last December, BF and I went over to the Poly to eat at Kona. We weren't even staying at that resort, we just went over there to check out the construction and eat. And the CMs were the rudest CMs I've ever encountered. They were so monotone and had such an attitude, like they didn't even want to be at that resort.

Glad you got some compensation, ugh. That's horrible. I'm surprised the person responsible for that disgusting mess never called housekeeping to ask for it to be cleaned. Kids get sick, and parents can't control the projectile vomiting, but at least they can take responsibility for getting it cleaned up. Rude people :sad2:.
And I hope you took down the name of the person who answered your phone call, telling you that you booked with Orbitz and too bad! Totally unacceptable.

Glad the Poly righted their mistakes! Stuff like this can happen anywhere! And while it unfortunate that the clean-up was not executed well, it's great that they compensated you and it covered so much!

Really? I think if you (or your child) *that* sick the last thing you're thinking of is cleaning things up. That being said, I would have called housekeeping if I was the puker.

ugh, i was still buzzing off my 3 trader sams rum drinks (i wanted to bring some mugs home for my sister:jester:) so i totally didn't think to write her name down.

however, i did call housekeeping and tell them that the woman they sent up did an excellent job- she was really the one who got the short end of the stick.

Glad to hear they have standard rooms with their deals. Do you remember what they offered you? Trying to decide between WL and Poly for Mid January but have no idea what it would run through them. We usually have AP discounts but not this time.

Glad you got some kind of compensation. The cherry picker guy right outside my window would really ruin the room for me... No chance of relaxing! And the vomit, well, gross.
