Backstage Safari Tour

My DH and I are heading back to Disney World in late February. I am a huge animal lover and I am interested in going on the backstage safari tour. If anyone has taken this tour I would greatly appreciate your opinion and input. Thanks so much. :thewave: :

You really learn alot about how they treat the animals at DAK...we REALLY enjoyed it!

It is a good tour. I loved seeing the elephant living quarters and the food preparation area. The tour of the vet hospitial is nice also.

If you've never done it, you might want to check into the Dolphin Encounter over at Epcot, as well. DH and I have done both - wish there had been a baby somewhere when we did the Backstage Safari, but did see some giraffes up close and personal.

We took this tour (for the second time) at the beginning of the month. For some reason I'm drawing a blank while trying to remember our guide's name, but she was great. We were able to pet a white rhino, and we "met" a screech owl up close and personal. The tour ends with a safari ride - minus the Little Red storyline. We learned how they keep the animals in their respective areas, where the hidden mickeys are, and an interesting fact about the baobob tree. I highly recommend this tour. We have the tour booked for Dec 27th so I am glad to see the great reviews. My DD is a huge animal lover and is really looking forward to seeing the animals. Hopefully we get to touch one.
