Hi

We got back late last night so here are some of our thoughts on waking this morning (both OH and I woke up thinking we were still in the NBC!):

We had a great time as ever and were pleasantly surprised with the hotel as it doesn’t seem to be many people on here’s choice, but we loved it. The exterior design is super from both front and back and I loved the interior décor. The room felt so much lighter and fresher than either the Cheyenne or SF and we appreciated the slight increase in space. The large double window helped considerably too with this and we were very lucky with our aspect – straight down the lake to the HNY and DS’s favourite, the Panoramagique balloon. Which, incidentally, was one thing we didn’t manage to go on this time as despite mostly sunny weather, it was either too windy, too cold or too hazy when we were walking past. It didn’t matter as time was limited on this trip.

Breakfast was good in the Cape Cod restaurant, slightly less so on our last day in the conference room with no trays and less choice – I never found the infusions and the fresh fruit salad bowl was either empty or containing only apple and grapes – but we never had to queue long or find it difficult to find a table.

We had a pleasant meal in the Cape Cod buffet one evening. I marginally preferred the choices in the Parkside Diner which we usually eat in but the restaurant itself is nicer to sit in and it made a pleasant change. DH particularly liked some of the main course options – guinea fowl stuffed with prunes and pork in a honey sauce and my veggie pasta option was surprisingly light and flavourful.

Best lunch time meal was my all-time favourite, the Agrabah which didn’t disappoint and was the only meal DS really tucked into. Like me he loves his veggie and salad starters. Disappointed there were no baklavas on the menu that day though. Theming has to be the best in park and DS loves finding Rajah and Abu among the hanging carpets. The chef came round at one point chatting with the guests and made a fuss of DS, putting his chef’s hat on his head and having his photo taken with him which was fun too.
I loved the 20th theming around Main Street and a someone else on here has said, quite classical, plus the new parade was brilliant. The new parade tune is so catchy! I must see if I can download it. The new floats are really pretty, as are the new character costumes and as for the floating fairies, well…. how do they do it?!!!

We were very disappointed to wait for the last ever DOUD parade only for it to be cancelled but it wasn’t the CMs involved’s fault and they were as disappointed as us not to be able to perform their last DOUD. I have only just learned from on here that the characters came out for a meet and greet. We were at the IASW end of the parade route, hoping to see the start, and so just wandered off to rides after the announcement and never saw anyone which was a shame, the more so as we saw no other characters out that day at all.

Other than that the few strikers did not make much impact on our stay. We saw one noisy demonstration go past us on Main Street which was rather frightening for DS who hates loud whistles but that was all.

Actually more annoying was the unannounced closure of the shorter route to the NBC from the Village on the evening of the Press Event. DS has mobility difficulties and at the end of a long day walking around the park the prospect of having to persuade him to go all the long way round was daunting. If I had known I would have requested transport through City Hall but there were no warning notices when we left the hotel in the morning. The shuttle bus was not an option, apart from having to walk back to the station, we tried that once and it was horrendous. The wait was long (SF and C each got two buses before ours turned up) then despite standing by the disabled entrance everyone pushed past and DS could not get a seat. No-one offered and DH and I had to prop him up in the scrum in order to stop him falling (his balance is not good). The bus then goes to the HNY and SL before the NBC. We vowed never again! Anyway, after much arguing at the barrier I managed to persuade someone to let us through and we were escorted past the events marquee and allowed to walk on. The woman who escorted us was very nice and we exchanged our delights over the parade which we had seen and she hadn’t and Dreams which she had seen and we hadn’t (special press event evening before).

And no, we haven’t seen Dreams yet! I was so tempted by the VIP showing area offered to Dream Pass holders for last night but in the end we decided that as we had a four hour drive to our next destination and did not want to drive through the night we would leave immediately after the parade which we did. Even then traffic is painfully slow through the Paris area on a Sunday evening we find. So we still have that to look forward to on our return trip next month.

We never even made the Studios this trip! DS can get a bit obsessive about certain rides, BTM, Snow White and the Molly Brown – a nice eclectic mix I think you will agree! - but as long as he is happy we are. Although we saw very few characters this time we did manage to see four of the five princesses which wasn’t bad going. We also saw Clarisse who we hadn’t met before. Who is she exactly? Tic and Tac’s sister?

CMs were lovely, particularly the BTM crowd and one on Pays des Contes de Fees who told us we could stay on for a second tour which was a treat.

All in all a lovely break and great first trip of the year, first introduction to the 20e anniversaire and most importantly, one very happy son! :)

happy child = successful trip in my book :goodvibes!

Clarice is the object of affection for both Chip and Dale (the cartoon is very amusing :)).

Welcome back! :wave2:

Glad you had a great time and loved the hotel :thumbsup2 what a shame you weren't waking up in it after all this morning!

Just think ~ you've got Dreams to look forward to on your next trip. :wizard: :wizard:

Sounds like a great trip. We always find we end up riding one ride more that others and a different ride on each trip.:goodvibes

I can't wait, especially as we could just about hear and see the glow in the sky from our room of the cast members' showing on Thursday evening and the one for the press event on Saturday. :dance3:

Sounds like a great trip. We always find we end up riding one ride more that others and a different ride on each trip.:goodvibes

Yes, it's lovely to have a different favourite each time isn't it? DS also has obscure "won't do" rides each time as well. For the last few trips it has been Autopia and Tea Cups he has given the cold shoulder to. DS also refused to leave the main park to visit the Studios but then wanted to go in every time we passed it on the way back each evening when of course it was shut! :rotfl2:

So pleased to hear you had a great time :thumbsup2. It is hardly worth unpacking :rotfl2:. How lovely going back to soon!

We saw Clarice on our first trip to DLRP, she was great with my DD1 (DD2 was just small in pushchair) and yes, she was sooo glamorous! ;). She was one of my fave characters from that trip actually :thumbsup2.
