Hi we are just back home yesterday. This will be the 3rd year in a row we have gone for the Christmas season.
We went Wed 14th - Wed 21st Dec at the Sequioa Lodge for 5 nights and staying a night at Ashford Travelodge each Way.
The Good
Euro tunnel arrived 30mins early each way and was offered a earlier train FOC each time.
The Roads both in the UK and France not busy and only one minor hold up.
Snow on main street - just magic
The Castle - Looking fantastic after the refurb.
Salon Mickey - Makes you feel like a VIP and the hot choc and cookies were yummy.
Not spending a single penny whilst we were there (and we were on the BB not HB meal plan. This was done, by taking a box of cereal and some tea and milk for first thing. Then having breakfast around 10:30 after EMH eating more as this was a bit like brunch. Making up ham and cheese rolls to eat in the park and filling out wtarer bottle up with orange juice. Bringing our own snacks, crisps, squash to eat during the day. And for dinner which was around 7-7:30 we cooked our meals in our room using my mini oven. We had beans on toast, hot dogs and sweetcorn, pizza and sweetcorn and cheese on toast.
Went to see the characters in the DLH on Saturday when Cinderella and her mice made a special appearance. DD was very happy, No queues and no scrums.
Shows - Playhouse disney, Animagic, Winter wonderland shows - magic.
Being given a free VIP fast pass for me. So DH and I could pop off and do TOT while the other stayed with the littlies. And I could use my park ticket to get an extra FP for the others.
Being given a free VIP breakfast card so we could go when ever we wanted.
DS & DD were given free thumper rabbits and choc coins on check in.
Father Christmas was great and queue was only 10-15 mins midday.
Queues - Or lack of. I was expecting it to be manic as it was the weekend before Christmas and school hols, but with some careful planning we never waiting more then 10-15 mins and most rides we just walked on.
Doing new stuff - Robinson tree house, Park breakfast, Molly Brown, Art of animation
DD meeting Aladdin and Jasmine at the meet and greet spot twice with less then a 5 min wait.
DS Who was dressed as Peter Pan playing about with Wendy, Peter Pan, John darling and Captain Hook at the side entrance when the show was going on.
DD getting to meet Rupunzel and Flynn
DD Who was dressed as Alice getting to meet Alice, The white rabbit Tweedle dee and Tweedle Dum.
Park breakfast at Plaza gardens - 9:15 Went twice, nicer the the hotel breakfast not so squashed in and with a view of the castle. Did the EMh rides first at 8am then ready for rope drop at 10
Messing about with Pooh and Eeyore in our hotel when no one else was
about.
The undercover walkway - great for crowds and rain.
Nice CM's meet loads.
The Bad
People smoking everywhere in the park
Scrums
People pushing in queues
Lack of unplanned characters in the park - I mean there were none.
Christmas not feeling quite so special, (this is my fault as we have been 4 times in the last 5 years at Christmas)
The last day - We had to come home, it was also so so so busy (Tuesday) there we so many people in the park you could'nt move.
This will be the last Christmas at DLP as DD is 7 next year so will no longer be free. We shall go Jan-Mar as under 12 still go free for those dates.
